That is Santorum’s problem, he thinks Government has the answer for everything. What's next, will he suggest burning books, more government intrusion into the private lives of FREE Americans.

These threads have convinced me that the collective IQ of Free Republic has dropped about 30 points since I first started posting here in 1998. Back then, it was obvious that obscenity is harmful to society, could and should be policed and restricted and IS NOT protected under the First Amendment. Now, we have all of you absolute slack-jawed morons arguing that Rick Santorum is somehow the equivalent of the Taliban for suggesting that the obscenity laws that are already on the books should actually be enforced.

And worse....

Gingrich and Romney have exactly the same position as Santorum on this issue.

You're all being played by the media and you're either on-board with the narrative or are too stupid to realize it.

Probably has something to do with the fact that all three front runners are pretty much the same, with different packaging. They all want to save the country through the power of the government. I really dont see any of their presidencies differing much from each other.

You’re right. When you ask them if they favor obscenity laws prohibiting public nudity, masturbation and consensual sex acts in their neighborhoods they become outraged and claim this is different because their children should not be subject to seeing these acts involuntarily. It is their “right” not to be subjected to these acts in public.

But somehow it is not their “right” not to be subject to same on the public broadcast system or the internet. Your theory that the collective IQ has diminshed a couple of sigmas might explain that little conundrum.

Then they go on to complain that you and I want to prevent them from doing what they want in their homes and bedrooms throwing around the statist epithet. How ridiculous can the argument get? Nobody gives a crap what they do in the privacy of their own home. As far as I’m concerned they can glue their eyes to images of adults engaging in sex acts until the sun stops shining. LOL, I mean really, how moronic can they get?

Here’s another beauty of an argument. By regulating the internet to require XXX websites to require ID to enter the site you have trampled on political speech. That’s my personal favorite.

A little less retarded is their state powers argument. Yes public obscenity laws should be as local as possible but small towns, big cities or large states have no capability to regulate the broadcast spectrum or the internet. Common sense and common decency must take a back seat to the libertines these days. It’s all right there in the Constitution and the DOI, the inalienable right to subject others to your sexual dalliances. Good grief.

“These threads have convinced me that the collective IQ of Free Republic has dropped about 30 points since I first started posting here in 1998.” Well, maybe its time to look elsewhere for your mean postings.

And the Santorum supporters have not added one increase in IQ due to their blind support for a candidate that is not qualified for President, and tries to convince Newt supporters that they are blind and stupid. Fiscally conservative is not what defines Romney or Santorum. Try again.

There are a great many laws that are not being enforced, however, the ones that Santorum wants to focus on are only those that support his sanctimonious positions. Santorum continues to lie about Mr. Newt and continues to misstate his positions. He is no better than Romney in that respect.

Mr. Newt has made many mistakes, both personally and professionally. He admits those mistakes and has learned from them, asked God for forgiveness. Santorum continues to make excuses for his mistakes, no admission, and has certainly has not learned from them. Santorum’s own words in support of Romney is enough for me to never trust him.

I could vote for Santorum if he somehow pulls off his conservative snow job. I will hold my nose and pull the lever. However, I would like to be proud of my vote, and know that if Mr. Newt gets the nomination he could actually win the election, defeat Obama, and clean up the mess the republican establishment has created since he left office. Santorum was part of that establishment for numerous years and likes to take credit for accomplishments he should not be proud of, as well as some he just takes credit for. He is not an honest man, just an establishment crony. Yes, he has had a good marriage, and seems to be a very good husband (and sometimes I question that), but that does not make him qualified to be President.

EAGLES UP FOR MR. NEWT! VICTORY OR DEATH was the cry then, and is the cry for Newt supporters.
