I’m thinking a Libertarian would be a good choice for Speaker of the House.
I guess the reason I think Santorum will work is because of the blue collar mid western voters will go for him more so than Obama this round. I am actually surprised they went last time. If it was strictly popular vote, I would not be so assured of Santroum but since it is electoral college that picks our President, I think he has a great chance. He is also very popular with the under 100,000 group which is very large. The other thing is I believe unlike on some on Free Republic, the population at large will be very energized to support Santorum where they did not support McCain.
I don’t care if the process is limited to the four or any Republican in the nation as long as the Nominee is Newt. If not Newt I would prefer to pick from a short list of those who didn’t run.
You've got to be kidding! No matter how you paint the picture 'all four are applying for a job'....it's that simple. We've all seen and experienced how that tune can play out most unfairly in our own life.
Heck, I accepted a position and gave two weeks notice only to have my supposedly new employer call me the night before my first day and announce he'd rehired the gal back he had fired. Imagine that!
Getting a job...no matter at what level isn't about fairness.....so you can put that argument to bed...besides all candidates know it's a dirty and nasty endeavor to get into politics.....they all knew what was on the line and what to expect. Going to convention was aired and discussed from the get go.
Maybe, but the problem is that HE thinks he needs to wait. And he may be right. A little more seasoning will helps someone like Paul Ryan. He just gets better and better, watch him grow and develope. Probably our best candidate in the future, even stronger than Marc Rubio who will be really really good soon.

I don’t see how it can be otherwise. These four guys have been out there pounding the campaign ground for almost a year. To have someone who has sat back on the sidelines swoop in and take the nomination would be unbelievably cruel and unfair and I doubt well-received by the electorate.

But no most Freepers do not live in a fantasy world....rather they are quite informed and understand the process.
Further you cannot gage an election by what you expect to take place....it's like a card game...some hold back their plays until the last minute and then trump everyone.
The fools are those who underestimate the plays and the powers behind them....things are not always what they appear to be...especially when the media and pundits are pushing peoples buttons....Nobody should be giving them much attention....what will or not bring this to a final end will have nothing to do with pundits or the media....it will be the powers that be with the monies to bribe and move delegates to where they want them...and just because Romney flashes his cash is by no means an indicator he has this sowed up.....there are those waiting on the sidelines who can derail him at convention, and will step forward when the time comes to do just that.
I don't. When Politico played the lead role in destroying Herman Cain, they forever proved themselves as frauds, willing to make up anything and destroy anybody if it suits their liberal agenda.
Can't you just imagine Newt, Rick and Mitt all standing together on the floor of a dark, empty, shuttered warehouse striking this Faustian bargain?

You have to be like Newt to be able to dream, and leave the worries to the Party or the likes of Romney.
I know we do or die with this election, but I have strong faith in the Almighty. If we won’t have a God-fearing leader by next year, collectively we have turned away from God,therefore, we deserve the consequence. Is it a bad thing? Absolutely no, it is a necessary thing!

Yes it is but not impossible...God is never late and throughout scripture just when things "looked like" a lost cause God stepped into the affairs of men.
A very much agree. God appoints leaders in nations both for the good of the people and for correction. We have Obama because we as a nation have been infiltrated by an enemy who has no regard for this nation...and one which we've failed to stand up to.
Further it's a matter of History when a nation turns it's back on God it's "invaded" by the hoards. And even in this we moved with an outstretched arm to assimilate them rather than fight it off.
So I do believe fully we are under the judgement of God now and have been....it's up to the people if they turn to him now or not. My fear is there simply are not enough who believe to offset the powers and the numbers of those who do not. ....nor the will to fight or see that this is a fight for our nations survival.
In my workplace their isn't a one I've come across who understands this election and see it simply as rigged and therefore not particiapting for the most part. They don't have any concern for this Primary whatsoever. And this in part because they mostly are liberals to begin with.
So as Christians we do have a fight and it's one which we may very well lose unless people turn back to God.

I really hope you are right. I just don’t see it that way at all. I am in a very large church in Texas, and even they don’t like Rick Santorum. My sunday school class has at least 200 in it, and you would be lucky to get 10 votes for Rick Santorum, and yes it is an evangelical church. Yes, they will vote for him in the fall if they have to, but few will get excited. I think this is a bigger problem than you think. And the fact that Rick really excites the other side is an even bigger problem. In my Opinion of course.

So each of the guys who have rarely yet in the process registered a 50+% level of enthusiasm for themself in any one state think that somehow the convention should still, even so, belong to them and them alone.
No. If that’s what they think, they are wrong.
OK, so let’s see you step up and go for the nomination. Put your actions where your mouth is. Its easy to sit back and bitch about how bad other people are, especially when you don’t put yourself out on the line. For all you sideliners out there saying, “what horrible choices”, okay, put your choice up there, and convince enough people to support them and win the nomination. Or do it yourself. Either one.
I don't cling to fantasies....but I do believe in God's intervention in the affairs of men....especially when things "look" as if all is lost. So I do not give way to Newt's stepping down until he says as much.
Further Newt spent years getting back the House of Representatives....and nobody believed him then either...yet he accomplished that when he had little to none support that that would be a reality.
I say again, it's a mistake to underestimate Newt as well as trying to determine how he's going to play his cards.....much as people wish to see otherwise how Newt is playing this Primary...his intentions are fully for the good of the entire country, not just this Primary.
Over and over again we hear Santorum saying he "adopted Newt's ideas of Conservative run Governance"....he has said as much in the debates and at various times in his local campaigns.
Santorum doesn't have his own thoughts or convictions because he's borrowed throughout his career on whatever works to move his career path along. And even in this run he borrowed from Newt, Perry and others. He is not authentic....but he is about Rick and what Rick aspires to...and that's about as far as he goes.
It does no good to whisper your little fantasies to me. You gotta get on Santa’s lap for that.
