Gingrich campaign settles in for marathon

The Newt Gingrich presidential campaign is taking on more of a marathoner’s pace to accompany its insistence that Gingrich plans to see the Republican nomination contest through to the August convention...

Monday...Gingrich convened about 15 top campaign advisers outside Washington, D.C., to examine the months ahead... before flying to Louisiana, where he plans to spend the week campaigning ahead of Saturday’s primary.

...Gingrich [has] endured a fresh round of calls for him to exit the race –

Gingrich has said that if he felt Santorum could defeat Romney – and President Barack Obama – one-on-one, he would gladly step aside, but he does not...

[Santorum]..has struggled with assembling an organization in key states, and his decision to campaign in Puerto Rico last week appeared to be a major blunder...

“I think Santorum should want us in,” Conway said. “I know he wants a clear shot at Romney, but does he really want Romney to have a clear shot at him?”

Gingrich ...is looking at his birthplace of Pennsylvania, ... Wisconsin, Maryland and DC, where Santorum did not make the ballot, as states where Gingrich can siphon a few delegates away from the front-runners in the next few weeks.

The under-the-radar strategy will likely be a tough sell to donors

“I’m sure those are some of the things that go through a candidate’s mind as they are wondering, waiting for my ship to come in,” Gingrey said.

Gingrich has given no public indication that such a time is approaching, and he hammered home the long-haul strategy at Monday's meeting, according to Gingrich spokesman R.C. Hammond.

As the meeting wound down, Hammond said Gingrich asked his campaign manager, Michael Krull, to remind Gingrich and the staff each day how many days remain until the convention.

As of Monday, it was 161.

I’m a Newt guy but I don’t think he’s gonna end up with the nomination. But, if his staying in the race will keep Romney from getting the need 1144 Delegates and takes this thing to Tampa...... then stay in Newt.

I'm in- until Newt's out. _____________________________________________________________ Santorum keeps wanting Newt to get out of the race, but remember this: Rick had Romney all to himself in Michigan, Ohio and Puerto Rico and got his butt handed to him. And, he wants Newt to drop out so he can defeat Romney???? What's wrong with this picture?

The writer, THE WRITER is an idiot! “The Newt Gingrich presidential campaign is taking on more of a marathoner’s pace to accompany its insistence that Gingrich plans to see the Republican nomination contest through to the August convention.”

Marathoner's pace??? Fast-slow-fast-slow.... is not a marathoner's pace! That is what newt has done so for and he is at 13.1 and THERE IS another 13.1 to go.

I hate it when morons compare thing to marathons when they are clueless to running a marathon.

I’m in too! Romney and Santorum are identical in their love for big government and nanny-statism... the only difference from Obama is that Romney wants the system to favor his business choices, and that Santorum wants it to favor his moral positions. But neither one of them wants either economic or personal freedom.

The only one who wants that is Gingrich.

I find it telling that you prefer “Mitt” to be in instead of Santorum.

What happens if “Mitt” beats Newt?

I will vote for Newt in the general, even if it is a write-in.

Newt is the only candidate I feel I can strongly support. The other two just represent default votes against Obama; and, frankly, the only reason for voting for them is to spare the military from another four years of demoralization and abuse. They deserve competent leadership.

Dangerously delusional—After losing both Alabama and Mississippi to a dang Yankee from Pennsylvania Newt knew his chances of winning were less than Hades Haagen Dazs on a hot-plate.

So what does he do? Decides to make sure Rick Santorum won't beat Mitt Romney by not only taking and wasting conservative votes--but by spending his last millions in Romneylike smear ads against Santorum.
And this ridiculous “all the way to the convention” crap Newt is selling and a lot of idjits are buying really means, because of his diluting the conservative vote, that even if nobody has the 1144, Mitt Romney will still have the most delegates and just how do you think a GOP-e run convention is going to settle things?

The last time a big loser brought down an entire nation out of pure ego-maniacal vanity and sour grapes was in 1945.

Not bitter—just disappointed with my fellows of the Right.
Unfortunately, I will have to tap out in Morse code against the concrete cell walls of the Obama built concentration camps for conservatives my “I told you so’s.” thanks to Newt.

Excuse me. Newt stole 7 percent from Santorum in Michigan, 15 percent from Santorum in Ohio and PR who cares. What is wrong with this picture is YOU. You need to know that Rick would have won Ohio and Michigan had Newt dropped out of the race. It is obvious but you are blinded by love.
