Did not see a thread started for tonight. About 50 mintues before polls close.
Tonight, it's important to keep track of the actual delegate count. Even though Romney will likely be projected the winner within 30 minutes, the delegate math will what's important.
Romney has solid leads in the 7 CD's in Northern IL/Around Chicago. These total about 19 Delegates
3 Congressional Districts covering North/Mid state are too close to call. These total about 9 Delegates.
Santorum's got the edge in the Downstate 8 Congressional Districts. These total about 26 Delegates.
Depending on how the 3 CD's swing, it is possible that Santorum could lose the popular vote, significantly, and yet still walk away with a split of the delegates.
Latest Projections:
Romney 45-46% Santorum 35-36% Gingrich 8-9% Paul 6-7%
Newt had my vote in Cook County today.
[There is no such thing as religious baggage]
“It’s the Economy and Unemployment stupid!” (Not aimed at you, just quoting Clinton, minus the Unemployment, which I threw in for good measure.
It's not just liberal Chicago anymore. The whole state is going that way.
Pay attention to Kane County, in the far west suburbs.
This used to be a conservation bastion. If it goes for Romney big, there's your answer right there.
Good for you. Don’t think he will be on our Texas ballot but if he hangs in until then, he gets my vote.
Stick it dork......
Yeah, you Newters will show ‘em. Are you always this jubilant for Mitt?
Yeah, Newts really raking them in on the economy tonight. Yeehah!
Tell that to JimRob. I'm sure he'd find your analysis interesting.
Reality is what is is. Nothing here that excites me. My man is losing and will probably drop out, so you can learn first hand, the hard way.
Hugh victory for Romney, NOT!
Do any of these morons think Romney will take IL against Obama? When it’s O’s home? The primary vote is supposed to reflect what people will do in the general, this doesn’t.
Despite what they’ll try to cram down our throats tonight, it ain’t over til Oprah sings.
I looks to me like he was the typical cocktail party circuit Republican...supported Cap-and-Trade with Pelosi, in on Fannie and Freddie, opposed the Ryan budget, worked against the tea party for Dede. Can you name anything conservative?

Newt didn’t campaign here. Illinois is as close to a one-on-one race between Romney and Santorum as we’re likely to see. Geeze, Romney beat Santorum like a rented mule. But Romney can’t beat Obama. If we don’t get a brokered convention, we are so screwed.
I don't see him rooting for Romney like Psyhcodork.
Wow, you change back and forth all the time. I am learning the hard way why you are psycho.
Nobody will ever accuse you of consistency.
I was about to say the same thing about, Santorum. Looks like that brilliant “Unemployment” speech was worth about 10 points to Romney.
Sorry Newt was in Illinois the other day. You know, a candidate has to at least compete in most of the states if he wants a chance to win.
Anything short of that is non serious.
The part about not fitting in the machine happended to me. The rubber guides were so tight that the machine could not move the ballot in to scan it. I had to move it around a bit to get it to move. Also, I noticed the digital counter on the scanner only said 49 when I ran mine through, finally after 3 to 4 tries (this was at 5 minutes to closing of the polling place!).
My office is in Illinois (we live across the river in Iowa). Co-workers said that turnout was really low.
I was one of three at mine today. I can't believe no one gives a rat's behind our freedoms are going down the tubes.
