NBC: Romney Wins Illinois Republican Party By Michael O'Brien, msnbc.com

Mitt Romney won the Illinois Republican primary with some ease on Tuesday evening, allowing him to likely add at his advantage over his rivals in the tally of delegates needed to secure the party's presidential nomination.

NBC News projected that Romney had won the contest, the lone presidential primary taking place on Tuesday, shortly after polls closed. The primary offered Republicans maybe their best chance yet of a genuine one-on-one battle between the former Massachusetts governor and Santorum, his chief competitor for the Republican nod.

“Further argument with me.”

Peace I was not trying to argue. Simply trying to understand your comment that is all.

Nov. will not be rocket science.
You go into the voting booth and you vote either for as many Republicans as possible and then against obama. Anything else is sheer stupidity.

Trying to legitimize standing in the corner sucking your thumb because you didn’t get your way seldom works.

If you fail to vote for the Republican nominee you have just helped obama. A man who wants to destroy the future for your kids.Once again, its not rocket science.

***

I get what you’re saying. And I believe in my heart many Romney voters TRULY do want Obama out in a huge way — the problem is — they’re extremely uninformed and don’t get a lot of these issues and they don’t understand the difference between RINOS and true conservatives. They go with who they think “looks” better, talks better, has more money, has more machine — but they stay very much in the dark knowledge wise OR, they believe we need the gd independents to win.

I’m hoping this improves - that with more exposure, Romney stumbles a bit before it’s all over. I REALLY want Newt to stay in and just keep up the pressure on Obama ...every single day. BE Newt — get in his head.

Over time, it could turn ...still very early. I remember everything breaking for McCain sometime back in July or August of 2008!

Oh, wow. I already read this twice, and will again.

But, more importantly, is there any going back now? Undoing what’s been done, and revamping and reigniting - or is it simply too late, too much damage done, too much of the powers that be now in the driver’s seat. I hope you will find the time to answer my questions, they are very important to me.

What an extraordinary post!! thank you so much!!

That's the attitude that has brought us to this point. The liberal Republicans are laughing their rear ends off. They know that "you don't have anywhere else to go. LOLOLOL. Let's nominate someone even MORE liberal next time. They will do they same thing."

Voting for Romney may be good tactics, but it is horrible strategy.

The slippery slope is the easiest road, and you make good speed. And your handbasket driver will supply you with reassuring comments along the way.

Illinois is a LIBERAL state. I repeat, a LIBERAL state. No real conservative is going to do well there, right now, as things are.

I can’t save America and from what I’ve seen from my fellow “conservatives” in recent years, they aren’t going to save America either.

"If" Romney gets elected I will continue to light a fire under his ass and torture the RNC every time they even try to go rino.

IMHO, we have made a lot of progress. The Tea Party alone is proof.

The country has always been center right. Its just going to take a while to reinstall Ronald Reagan style conservatism again. But its in the works and will happen. Not soon enough for any of us but with the likes of Sarah Palin, Marco Rubio Paul Ryan and others we do have a future.

Lets not throw it away because we didn't get our way....again. We are the leadership of the conservative base, if we give up things only get worse.

Yes, how is he a troll? A roll is not defined as somebody that doesn’t kiss your ass btw.

In '06 & '08 we had a lot of people that had recently joined that were preaching that we should not vote to "teach the GOP a lesson". It was a disaster and it brought us Obama. It is not uncommon for trolls to come to Free Republic and try to create wedge issues to split our vote.

Once again we have new people saying they will not vote for the GOP nominee unless it is their favorite. I believe this is a critical election and anybody causing dissension among the troops is not helpful.

I like Newt and thought Perry had shown good results in Texas. Romney is not my choice but I will support the Nominee of the GOP. Anybody but Obama.

We are putting Romney in a position where he has to select Santorum as his VP.

I agree completely. America cannot be saved forever. Rev 13 will come to pass at Gods Appointed time and Schedule.

More bad news, Adam Kinzinger is leading Don Manzullo. It’s a good night for RINO’s.

Amen, TitansAFC.

It happens too often it's drags us down as a country and a people

to have the worse candidate representing our liberties. Conservatives have the best message.

I see where you are coming from, but I hope you see mine.

I’m Catholic. Mitt Romney brought in publicly funded abortion to Massachusetts.

If the choice is between Mitt and Obama, I cannot in good conscience vote for either one of them.

I am not promoting the rising of a third party, but I will not support a man who has written a policy providing public funding for abortion while he was governor.

Santorum, to me is the last man standing who supports what I believe, and so I will support him, not out of desire to divide the party, but because I sincerely believe that he has the best opportunity to beat Obama.

I fear that Romney, we will sell our souls and still lose, just as what happened with McCain. It will avail to naught.

In the past, Republican Presidents weren’t very good at vetting their judicial nominees. They’ve gotten better in recent years, as Clarence Thomas, John Roberts, and Samuel Alito can prove.

Just reduce this to a simple logic problem Will voting for candidate X who is liberal produce a conservative president?

Will candidate X, who is as hostile to our values as Obama govern in a way that promotes our values?

Logically the answer to both is no. Therefore why continue to reinforce the party that produces Candidate X?

It’s going to collapse either way. Do you prefer it to do so with your ethics and morality intact or not? That’s the only real issue. As for me, if Romney gets the nod, he will do it without my vote as well. Blame the GOP for the loss.

Although I don't have a dozen or so links to prove my position its my guess that the RNC has seen the future and they realize that without us they go nowhere.

They might get the presidency but we will take the rest. If not this cycle or the next we will nominate and elect a conservative potus. Will her name be Palin or his Rubio or Ryan? I don't know but it will happen. With or without your help.

You can't tell me they haven't got the funding message that we sent. We now fund individual candidates and Sarah Palin gets them elected. Seems we still have bit to learn about waging a campaign for potus however. You gotta admit that Santorum and Newt were severely lacking in the basics. When our two guys go up against a well financed, well organized, engineered machine that's been at it for years with little or no resources the result is pretty predictable.

When that kind of campaigning stops and we get better organized it will be a different result. The days of the rinos while not over are severely measured. I see the glass half full, you obviously don't.
