NBC: Romney Wins Illinois Republican Party By Michael O'Brien, msnbc.com

Mitt Romney won the Illinois Republican primary with some ease on Tuesday evening, allowing him to likely add at his advantage over his rivals in the tally of delegates needed to secure the party's presidential nomination.

NBC News projected that Romney had won the contest, the lone presidential primary taking place on Tuesday, shortly after polls closed. The primary offered Republicans maybe their best chance yet of a genuine one-on-one battle between the former Massachusetts governor and Santorum, his chief competitor for the Republican nod.

They cost us this. The no one but Rick, stubborness.

Our side has many hurdles and the anger and disrespect is not good.

This election is about my soul and my soul doesn’t depend on whether Obama is defeated.

“Rush has been predicting that whomever the GOP candidate turns out to be, the GOP (and Independents who’ve turned from the temptations of the Dark Side) will unite to defeat the Marxist.”

Defeat a Marxist with a Socialist. No wonder this country is headed for disaster.

I don’t think Romney needs Rubio to win FL. He does not connect with blue-collar voters and those earning less than $100k. He needs to win some crucial rust-belt states. I think he’ll be making a huge mistake if he does not bring in Santorum. Reagan brought in Bush (who mocked Reagan’s policies as “vodoo-economics”) and I can’t see how Romney can drop Santorum and unite both wings of the party.

I had planned to work hard and volunteer for either Newt or Santorum this summer but if Romney is going to be the nominee I’m going to take the summer off. Screw him.

I also think I’m going to quit my Republican membership. I don’t feel at home there anymore.

I agree!

A solid Conservative VP choice could be Romney's political salvation. Also, choosing a strong conservative could prove to be a positive influence on him.

I'm scared to death of Obama winning a second term. It's this fear that's changing my mind about voting for Romney. Who knows, maybe some type of miracle will happen...?

This isn’t over by a longshot

I’m with you. And if Romney wins, I can’t wait for his campaign or the RNC to call me for a donation. I’ll let them know I will NEVER vote for mini Marxist and will be voting third party.

Good post,if we get a Paul Ryan or Marco Rubio it should wake up the spoiled brats i didn't get my way basers and bring them back to reality.

Anyone who consciously compares Romney to the Dear Marxist leader is way out there in duhhhh... land as far as I am concerned.

Sure Romney is a rino, sure he was no one's first or even second choice here but to put him even in the same world with zero is insane.I guess sometimes reality is a hard slap in the face.

You just have to deal with it or go back in the corner and suck on your thumb some more.

I am now completely afraid that we ALL are going to be disappointed in the nomination.

Can you tell me what you think of these 2 things: Newt going all the way to the convention, which Newt has said he will do. I don't think I've heard Santorum say that, he may have.

and 2) Newt and Santorum forming some sort of alliance. Would that be at all effective against Romney?

This Saturday, Louisiana has a primary. Santorum should do well there.

time for Newt & Rick to exit so we can focus on the task at hand. The sooner the better.

Yeah spaceman from planet Kolob, the sooner the GOP dies, the better.
