See you in November? (banana republic politics in Oregon)

For the record, we don't especially care whether Oregon voters elect a labor commissioner in May or November. But we do care that election dates and other key decisions are made in an open, timely and fair process.

By any measure, Secretary of State Kate Brown's belated "announcement" that the election for the statewide position of commissioner of the Bureau of Labor and Industries will be held in November, not May as everyone formerly believed, fails that test.

Word on the street is that the Democrat Secretary of State didn't like poll results showing a Democrat would lose a May election, so she changed the election date to November with absolutely no notice. Even the liberal Oregonian newspaper says it smells, so you know it's bad. This didn't make the front pages, so most Oregonians aren't aware this occurred.

Oregon's legislative council reviewed the issue and wrote:
“We believe that current law applicable to the nomination or election of nonpartisan candidates requires the office of Commissioner to be placed on the ballot for the nominating election to be held on the date of the primary election in May 2012.”

A judge has already ruled it was OK to change the dates to the general election date in Nov....gotta go that extra mile to keep them republicans from possibly winning a statewide office...especially a nonpartisan office.

Why November? Why not declare there will be no elections until the polls say a Democrat will win. That should do it. Prayers and thoughts to all my friends and classmates I left behind in 1966...anyhow those that haven’t been brainwashed by the invaders from California.
