‘Your God’s wrong’: Judge erupts in angry tirade, sends pro-life activist back to jail

TORONTO, Ontario, March 22, 2012 (LifeSiteNews.com) – An Ontario Court of Justice judge erupted in a lengthy, angry tirade against pro-life activist Mary Wagner – and ejected a spectator from the public gallery – in a downtown Toronto courtroom Wednesday. The judge then sent Wagner to jail for an additional 92 days, added to 88 days already served prior to trial, after finding her guilty of mischief and two counts of failing to comply with probation orders.

The charges related to Wagner’s November 8 arrest at the site of the Bloor West Village “Women’s Clinic.” Wagner has been arrested on several occasions for peacefully entering abortion facilities in Toronto, where she presents women in the waiting room with a rose and offers them pro-life counseling.

She may be right, in the endl and G-d bless her for her work.

But under the secular law, as it exists, the “women’s clinics” are entitled to THEIR “freedom of association”, and they can control who can and cannot responsibly enter their establishment.

She may be morally right, but the “women’s clinics” DO have the secular law behind them and she must take her punishment for doing what she wants to do. G-d bles her.

I know what the long term result will be, and I know that people like this judge will not wind up being on the winning side, but I think were close to if not past the point at which recovery from this spiral in the near term is highly unlikely. I think we may sink into a very dark period for perhaps even a century or more. It's happened before in history. We aren't immune, even if too many of us thought we were and let our guard down for too long.

People with faith and conviction are shouted down and ridiculed routinely, unless of course they are anti-Western Islamists. Part of me feels that if we are going to commit national suicide, lets do it now and let the dark ages begin - so that the seeds of the recovery from this can at least start germinating.

He is pretty clearly saying that his "god" believes in murdering babies. Nice god you have there, judge.

Unless Canada has a "bill of rights" describing abortion as such, it is just another legal activity for now. Dueling was once legal. So was segregation, slavery, and Nazi Germany's treatment of the Jews. Those laws changed and with public outcry this one will too.

The Judge does not have the right to engage in angry tirades with defendant’s in the court. She should tell him, Your Honor, I will not obey any condition of probation. Sentence me now. And remind him she will report him to the Provincial Bar Association.

I would guess she has lost everything by now. At least she will be fed and housed. They can’t house everyone. God bless her.

Roses? Peaceful entry? What a terrorist!

I would expect a judge to know the law a little better than this. There is no "right to abortion." There is a right to "security of person," which is the supposed legal basis upon which the laws against abortion were struck down in R. v. Morgentaler in 1988.

However, the lack of a law against it is not equal to a positive right—especially when you consider that Bertha Wilson, incidentally the one woman on the Supreme Court at the time, wrote in her opinion that drafting restrictions on abortion were a "perfectly valid legislative objective" and that the state's interest in protecting the life of the fetus increased as gestation continued.

In other words, no "right" is granted if the same court that supposedly granted it stated that the state had a valid interest in restricting it again. Abortion is not a "right," it is simply not illegal, thanks to a quarter-century of moral cowardice on the part of the national government.

That part you are surely correct about. The judge may have made a decision that the law required, but likely did so in a manner that violated standards of judicial conduct, for which they might yet find themselves in trouble.
