French President Emmanuel Macron called on Wednesday for abortion to be added to the EU Charter of Fundamental Rights. Speaking to members of the European Parliament in Strasbourg, eastern France, on Jan. 19, Macron said that the rights charter, ratified in the year 2000, needed to be revised. “Twenty years after the proclamation of our Charter of Fundamental Rights, which enshrined, among other things, the abolition of the death penalty throughout the Union, I hope that we will be able to update it, in particular to be more explicit about environmental protection or the recognition of the right to abortion,”...

Phil Murphy, D-N.J., signed the Freedom of Reproductive Choice Act alongside Lt. Gov. Sheila Oliver, the leadership of the state’s Senate and Assembly and Planned Parenthood President Alexis McGill Johnson Thursday. The New Jersey state legislature gave final approval to a bill yesterday that will legalize killing babies in abortions up to birth. Governor Phil Murphy is expected to sign the measure into law this week even though he claims he’s a practicing Catholic. As LifeNews reported, the bill will legalize abortions up to birth and allowing non-doctors to kill babies in abortions. The legislation guarantees “the fundamental right of reproductive autonomy,” even though women already have reproductive autonomy and choice prior to the decision to end a baby’s life in an abortion as reproduction has already taken place.

President Joe Biden (D) said on Friday, Sept. 3, that he does not believe life begins at conception - contradicting his previous statements on when life begins. Biden answered a reporter’s question on abortion on Friday, after addressing the August jobs numbers at the White House. “I respect those who believe life begins at the moment of conception,” Biden said. “I don’t agree, but I respect that. I’m not going to impose that on people.” Biden’s declaration that he does not believe life begins at conception is contrary to what he has stated in the past. At the 2012 vice...

President-elect Joe Biden is poised to roll back several of the Trump administration's most restrictive sexual and reproductive health policies, including limits on abortion. Reproductive rights advocates expect Biden to quickly overturn Trump-era rules, like banning federal funds for foreign and national health organizations that promote and provide abortion and giving employers more freedom to deny free contraceptive coverage for their workers. "We have a ton of work to do to undo the harm over the last four years, but knowing we have champions there who understand what needs to happen in the first 100 days is tremendously exciting," said...

Washington, D.C. Newsroom, Jan 19, 2021 / 11:00 am MT (CNA).- President-elect Joe Biden is expected to promptly roll back pro-life policies the Trump administration put in place, NBC News reported on Monday. Biden, who will become the second Roman Catholic president when he is sworn in to office on Jan. 20, is believed to be seeking to repeal the Trump administration’s Protect Life Rule and the expanded Mexico City Policy. The Protect Life Rule prevents organizations which perform or refer for abortions from receiving Title X family planning funds. It effectively stripped Planned Parenthood of approximately $60 million annually...

UN secretary general tells feminists he won’t let Trump undermine abortion ‘rights’ It is clear that we are witnessing a very strong attack on all the progresses made ... in relation to sexual and reproductive health,' Guterres said with the U.S. president in mind. NEW YORK, September 4, 2020 (C-Fam) — UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres says he wants to “make sure that governments do not take advantage of COVID-19 to undermine sexual and reproductive rights and to put into question the services that are provided.” Guterres said this during a virtual townhall meeting with feminists on Monday. He was responding to...

In what may be his first major move to the left on policy as a 2020 presidential candidate, Democratic frontrunner Joe Biden has endorsed repealing the Hyde amendment, a measure that prohibits federal funding of abortion except in cases of rape, incest, or when the mother’s life is endangered. “It can’t stay,” Biden said of the Hyde amendment during an exchange with an ACLU activist earlier this month. The video of the exchange was posted by the ACLU on Twitter on May 8th but has drawn little attention since then (it was flagged by Washington Post reporter David Weigel on...

Washington (CNN)A federal judge in Oregon announced Tuesday he will issue a preliminary injunction against federal restrictions that prohibit taxpayer-funded family planning clinics from referring patients to abortion providers, according to The Oregonian. US District Judge Michael J. McShane called the federal restriction a "ham-fisted approach to public health policy," but has yet to issue a formal written opinion in the case, according to the outlet, which also said McShane was "reluctant to set 'national health care' policy and would describe the scope of his injunction in a formal written opinion soon." The case was brought by 20 states --...

In his State of the Union address on Tuesday night, President Trump attacked the law that New York passed last month codifying a woman’s right to an abortion, and he proposed federal legislation to roll back the protections provided by the 1973 Roe v. Wade decision. The president’s diatribe was part of the far-right’s escalation of its assault on a woman’s constitutional rights. It’s worth recalling that in 1999, long before he ran for president, Mr. Trump described himself as “very pro-choice.” Today he claims to be anti-choice, and he shamelessly courts the religious right to win votes. Too much...

During his speech to the Planned Parenthood abortion business today, President Barack Obama asked God to bless the number one abortion performer in the United States. Here is how he ended his speech: “As long as we’ve got to fight to make sure women have access to quality, affordable health care, and as long as we’ve got to fight to protect a woman’s right to make her own choices about her own health, I want you to know that you’ve also got a president who’s going to be right there with you, fighting every step of the way,” said Obama....

WASHINGTON (AP) -- President Barack Obama says there's an effort in states across the country to turn back the clock on abortion to the 1950s. He says at a gala for Planned Parenthood that when politicians turn the abortion-rights group into a punching bag, they're really telling women they're on their own.

President Barack Obama, tomorrow, will become the first sitting president to address the Planned Parenthood abortion business. Obama originally planned to talk to the abortion giant tonight at its gala but pushed back the speech to Friday after massive criticism and suggestions he was ignoring victims of the Waco explosion. Tomorrow, he will speak to 1,000 supporters of Planned Parenthood Federation of America. The big question is whether he will address the murder trial of abortion practitioner Kermit Gosnell. Obama has thus far refused to comment on the trial — despite the fact that he has commented on other trials...

President Obama will again embrace Planned Parenthood this week, headlining the group's annual gala even amid a growing national focus on abortion. Planned Parenthood, a lightning rod in conservative circles, announced Tuesday that Obama would give the keynote speech at its annual Washington event, joining Dr. Ruth Westheimer and actress Lena Dunham as "champions of women's health." "President Obama has done more than any president in history for women's health and rights," said Planned Parenthood President Cecile Richards. "He understands that access to birth control and preventive health care are economic issues for women and their families." But the ceremony...

Michigan is in the national news because of a disturbing development in human fetal stem cell experimentation. Neuralstem, Inc. announced that it has received approval from the Food and Drug Administration to expand an amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (Lou Gehrig’s disease) Phase II study to the University of Michigan. The stem cells used in the study come from spinal cord tissue taken from a healthy, 8-week-old aborted baby. Phase I of the trial tested whether human fetal stem cells can safely be injected into the spinal cord. According to Neuralstem, the aim of Phase II is to obtain the maximum tolerated...

We're used to MSNBC's Toure saying outlandish things, but his latest commentary in celebration of the 40th anniversary of Roe v. Wade is by far the worst. During a segment last week, Toure went on what he called an abortion rant in which he thanked God and country abortion was there to "save him" at a time when taking care of a baby and becoming a father would have been inconvenient for him. He also refers to abortion as a "safety net." We're used to MSNBC's Toure saying outlandish things, but his latest commentary in celebration of the 40th anniversary...

The recently re-appointed UN High Commissioner on Human Rights, Navanethem Pillay, has issued a document calling for governments to criminalise organised opposition to abortion by non-governmental groups such as pro-life lobbyists or even family members. The UN Human Rights Council published its “technical guidance” to address maternal mortality and morbidity in July, to “assist policymakers in improving women’s health and rights.” The document starts from the abortion industry’s assertion that the best way to reduce maternal mortality is to introduce legalised abortion and reduce legal and other restrictions on abortion. Under the “rights-based” approach to women’s health care, the document...

“Membership of the species Homo sapiens is not enough to confer a right to life.” To the ears of us ordinary people, it sounds like the ravings of some fringe group of European neo-fascists or Communists, but the man who made that statement in a Scottish newspaper today is perhaps the most acclaimed and respected ethical philosopher alive, toasted by liberal academic and political elites around the world. Philosopher and Bioethicist Peter Singer defended abortion in an op-ed in the Scotsman today. “Opponents will respond that abortion is, by its very nature, unsafe – for the fetus,” he wrote. “They...
