Talking to someone, asking them about their business even if one is not neighborhood watch, is not only not a crime, it's not even offensive, as long as you have valid concerns.
Physically attacking someone is assault, and can get the attacker shot in self-defense, and no questions can be validly asked.
You reverse the two, and claim assault is a reasonable response to questioning. Just as bad, you lie about the questioning - because no evidence exists that any questions were ever asked.

I have to tell you. Based on the media I have heard about this (before today), I also assumed Zimmerman to be a nut that went looking for trouble.
I have now listened to the 911 calls, read all the reports, the hisotry of the neighborhood, etc that I can find. My mind has now changed. Both of you have embellished some scenarios beyond what has been reported as fact.
If you stay objective and just read the facts and especially listen to all the 911 calls as well as the police reports, you might find yourself scratching your head about the outrage (unless your are for some reason predisposed to assume racism on the part of all white people).
Unless an otherwise logical person is predisposed to assume racism in this case, I see no way to consider this a hate issue or crime. Where in the hell is the media connecting dots that makes this case such an outrage? Is it that the 6’3” 200 lb 17 year old didn’t have a weapon?
Can we get back to objective logic here? I keep a close eye on my neighborhood too. Especially since my wife’s SUV was broken into and my next door neighbor’s house was burglarized in the middle of the day. I can see myself calling 911 (and I have). I would also try to keep tabs on what was going on if I felt the was a potential threat in my neighborhood. Does that make me racists? What if the subject I am suspicious is also black, hispanic, white or asian? Am I still racist?

Your excusing of Martin's assault of Zimmerman is utterly unsupported.
Witnesses say Martin "initiated" the physical confrontation by attacking Zimmerman, apparently for looking at him while calling in a suspicious person to the police.
That Martin was unarmed when he was shot is simply Martin's (last) mistake.

The fellow could have said ‘none of your business’ and walked on - in which case Z is at fault if he didn’t allow him to do so;
or he could have become violent in which case Z acted legally.

What do you know and where did you learn it? Before 2:00 PM today, I had only known what I heard and read on the news. Today, I investigated on my own and listened to all the 911 calls, read the police reports (with witness statements), and some history of both parties.
I would encourage you to go do the same. After conducting my own investigation my opinion of Zimmerman changed. I'm not saying he wasn't a justice zealot. But I don't see where he ever crossed over to vigalante. And I see no evidence in this case or any other 911 call that he ever made that he is racists (He is latino btw).
I am a CCW holder. That doesn't excuse bad behavior or justify a single thing ever. But I admit to wondering if some would jump to defense in fear of legal retribution for the perception that is out there in the media.

I have never mentioned race in any of these discussions, except to denounce the MSM for making this about race. Zimmerman’s actions reflect poorly on all gun owners and all CCW holders and that is the my only interest in this.
Zimmerman is simply a cop wanna be that went too far.
I missed that juicy tidbit. Please point me to the witness statement or CSI report that led an investigator to this speculation. I apparently have not researched everything if this glaring fact is out there.
This is not about Jackson, Obama or Sharpton. A 17-year-old boy is dead and people are flying to defend the shooter and oppose the reality check of an investigation and grand jury.
If someone's terrier had gotten loose and Zimmerman had shot it, more people would be outraged. If Zimmerman had been Officer Zimmerman, more people would be outraged.
Instead, people are asking what possible excuse this boy had to be out of doors at seven o'clock in the evening. I find that outrageous.
That's not what people are asking. They are asking why this racists white guy isn't in jail awaiting trial, conviction and execution for planning the murder of this innocent black child.
And that's the problem.
1) A very aware (boarding on paranoid) citizen sees something suspicious (the guy did not "live" in the neighborhood, there has been crime, it's night time). 2) Calmly call the police and can't initially tell if the guy is white or black for sure. He only answers the 911 operator affirmatively when the black male approaches him. 3) He stops following the suspicious male when the male takes off running according to the 911 calls. 4) There is a physical confrontation moments later that finds Zimmerman with a bloody nose, cut on the back of his head and wet grass on his back. 5) Witnesses testify to the white guy yelling for help and getting beat up. 6) Media fills in all the blanks for viewers and listeners with speculation.
Hopefully this is my last post on the subject, there being no point in arguing when none of us has sufficient facts. But speaking of sufficient facts, there's a map up-thread that shows where the shooting occurred. Looks to me like Zimmerman would not have driven his truck back there, but went on foot. I would ask you to consider -- not explain to me, mind you, but just consider -- how that squares with your assertion that he stopped following Martin when Martin took off.

The cops apparently found it valid. Lets be real here. If Zimmerman were black this wouldn’t even be a story and you wouldn’t care what happened. A month down the road and Zimmerman is not yet arrested. That means there is no credible evidence of anything other than self defense.
Its too bad bad azz wannabe Zimmerman is an idiot and too bad little (6’2” 200lb) bad azz wannabe Trevayn was an idiot. Thats really all there is to this story.
Sorry if I did not elaborate. I have a retired highway patrol officer as a source. I asked if measurements were made at the scene. He said, no, the officer just estimates them, measurements are taken later.
I think that 3 inches and 40 lbs could be well within estimation range.
We do not have anyone in the media saying anything other than 140 pounds, but it seems very low for a 6 foot 3 inch teenager. Could be, we just do not know. We do have several reports that Trayvon was 6 foot 3 inches tall.
As it appears that the parents have insisted that his school records be sealed, we may have to wait until the autopsy report to get definite measurements for his height and weight.
It appears important to me because it changes the way that you look at George Zimmerman's defense.
It also says a bit about the credibility of the Martin partisans.
I think we have a tragedy of errors here. We have all looked at people who appeared to be acting strange, only to find that they were doing something while talking on a cell phone. It appears that Trayvon Martin was on a cell phone with a hands free device while he was walking in the strange neighborhood.
It would explain a bit why Zimmerman thought he was acting peculiarly.
Now that the teen is dead and so much is on the line, will they release any activity as a minor that Trayvon might have been into?
Don’t know, but what I’ve learned form this is that if you are being attacked by a black criminal, you’re better off shooting yourself.

I look out the window and judge the person walking across the street as “suspicious”. Well, he’s visiting you a few houses up the street.
Martin was not a stranger in the neighbourhood, having visited before, at least once right before he walked to the convenience store from where he was returning. A rash of burglaries in the neighbourhood. 40 in the past year, I read (correct the number if you know better.) What does the above say about the quality of the “work” performed by the volunteer crime watch captain, also an unemployed car wash professional, and a 9 year student at a two year college, who as someone else pointed out had an earring in at least one ear, and could have been easily mistaken by Martin as a stalking faggot? (I’ve seen those, haven’t you? They are the ones who look suspicious, as you return with a bottle of iced tea to the house where you’re staying.
