Reid:Overturning Obamacare Puts Admin In "Better Position For Election" [OK, Let's End It]
Real Clear Politics ^ | 3/27/12 | Harry Reid, Old Woman from Nevada

Posted on 03/28/2012 11:22:27 AM PDT by SoFloFreeper

SENATE MAJORITY LEADER HARRY REID: The question is, 'Do I think it will damage the Democrats if the law is overturned?' You know, you folks read stuff more than I do. There's a significant school of thought that the administration is -- puts them in a better position for the election if it's turned down. Now, I think it will be upheld but I don't know but you can read all that stuff as well as I can. Again, I think you're speculating, I don't know.

Well hell, I say we take the old woman at her word.

Someone introduce a bill rescinding ObamaCare and call it the "Position Obama Better for the Election" Act. POBEA will help save our nation by putting the Messiah back in office for four more years.

Yeah, this is what I suspected. If SCOTUS does not throw out Obamacare, the Dems suspect a bloodbath at the local, state, and legislative level.

I don’t care, just get rid of it. If the population is stupid enough to re-elect him then we get what we deserve.

This is a good sign. Dingy is anticipating defeat, or at least hedging his bets.

I don’t really care what those far left kooks think. I just want this damn bill killed, stomped to the ground and destroyed. Whatever happens after wards, who cares, at least this disaster known as socialized medicine will be dead!

On the other hand if it does toss Obamacare and it’s the usual conservative-liberal 5-4 split including Kennedy, then the future makeup of the USSC will suddenly loom large and Mitt Romney will buff up his ostensible conservative chops over that issue (it does look a lot like Mitt is in striking distance of the nomination now, even though most of us would not have wished this waffler to win it).

This is all assuming the USSC does announce the decision before the election, or even in time to influence the GOP convention.

"If SCOTUS does not throw out Obamacare, the Dems suspect a bloodbath at the local, state, and legislative level."

You are right on ... the tea party revolution would re-ignite like you never believe if the SCOTUS upholds all or even part of the law.

I've found it amazing, at my middle age, about this law. I came of age during the Reagan Administration and have watched many waves of politics. NEVER in my 50 years has a law been ignored, or wished to go away, than Obamacare, at a corporate level. NEVER. Other legislation has been decried but never has legislation been hated. Nice to see that, in spite of the Dems, that good ole Americans still have the backbone to realize that the Congress works for us.

Also, for once I just love Bill Clinton. He told BHO in 2009 that the reason the Congress was lost in 1994 was because HillaryCare did not pass. I knew the truth, as a young Republican back then, that the reason the Congress was lost was because the Dems tried to pass Hillarycare. The takeover was even larger in 2010 because Obamacare succeeded in passing. I hope BHO throws a drink in Clinton's face someday saying, "you a--hole, your advice was 180 degrees wrong!"

I suspect people will still feel the throat pain they experienced when the dunces tried to ram obamacare down our throats. I will NEVER stop letting Mary Landrieu know how she went against the people of Louisiana and sold out the American public and is STILL standing with obama on obamacare no matter how we think. We will all remember her stand when her reelection comes around. She’s toast! At last!

Harry Reid logic... Well yes it makes for a better campaign slogan especially when recent polling this week shows 2/3’s oppose this key element of Obama’s failure.... Remember this is the mind that went along with Pelosi and not reading the bill before they passed it.... The Pretender in Chief as well as Obamacare and his legacy are in deep doo-doo....

In a way, Harry has a point.

First, Obama has a new target to blame for his all his failures. About time, blaming Bush was getting so tired and lame. Now, he can claim he could have given everyone free healthcare, balanced the budget, and returned the seas to their proper levels if not for that evil SCOTUS.

Second, it gives Obama a new promise to run on - the NEW and IMPROVED Universal Heathcare, version 2.0! Twice the coverage at half the cost! Free Birth control for students! (ad imfinitum)

"There's a significant school of thought that the administration is -- puts them in a better position for the election if it's turned down."

Now that's what you call spin! As for his "significant school of thought..", I think it's more like significant wishing.

What would Hillary say?

This requires a willing suspension of disbelief!

Even old Serpenthead was spouting this same spin .... He wasn't believable either. Here's Guy Benson destroying his case ...

Step 1: The rare Democrat Congressional super-majority and White House advocate a bill that the public doesn't want, relying upon wild promises that people don't believe.

Step 2: This Democrat juggernaut rams their unpopular bill through Congress with nary a single Republican vote, using backroom deals and legislative tricks that further alienate the public.

Step 3: The law begins to go into effect, violating several core pledges right out of the gate. The law remains deeply unpopular.

Step 4: The public elects anti-Obamacare Republicans in 2010, and overwhelmingly demands that the Supreme Court invalidate either the individual mandate or the entire law.

Step 5: The Supreme Court invalidates the individual mandate.

Step 6: The remaining shell of Obamacare begins to crumble as its unconstitutional tent pole (the mandate) is ripped out. Premiums shoot up to truly stunning levels, as insurers are forced to issue "insurance" to all sick comers, but without the near-universal mandated coverage to help limit premium growth.

Step 7: The public rushes to reward Democrats for the mess they -- and they exclusively -- made by passing an unwanted law that turned out to be constitutionally and practically untenable.

Over here in N.C., we’ve seen not only the end of Bev Perdue, but also a HUGE republican majority that overruled her on the budget and other great legislation. 2012 will simply be an extension of that. The thing we need in place now is Tea Party pressure to keep the republicans honest. Maybe we can get a 3rd party started in time for 2016 and get rid of Mitt.

Why don’t you end in a manner of good conscience and let’s have that discussion.
