It was bound to happen. The elderly Sanford, Florida couple whose address was misidentified by a tweet from a Los Angeles man and later retweeted by filmmaker and actor Spike Lee, has hired the Morgan & Morgan law firm to represent them, reports the Orlando Sentinel.
Before my initial visit to Alaine and David McClain's residence Tuesday morning, I suspected the address that Marcus D. Higgins first tweeted out to Mr. Lee and others was not the home of Trayvon Martin shooter George Zimmerman. I noticed through Google Earth that the neighborhood was not a gated community and was several miles from the Retreat at Twin Lakes where the shooting took place. Furthermore, there were no reports that massive crowds were gathering around Mr. Zimmerman's residence either.
My suspicions were confirmed after I spoke with a neighbor of the McClain's, Tim, who told me several news agencies had already passed through the area looking for Mr. Zimmerman and that an Elaine lived at the address not Trayvon Martin's shooter, George Zimmerman. I was surprised, given the gravity of the potential danger to the occupant living at the Edgewater Circle address, that other news outlets had not reported the case of mistaken identity already.

Another twitter comment that comes back to haunt the user. It couldn’t happen to a better guy. Keep rambling on, Spike.
Signing up for the twitter is free but comments could be costly.
Best news I have heard all week.
Don’t forget emotional damages.
Heck, I am emotionally damaged, by the idea of a 70+ couple being chased out of their home.
Class action, anybody?
RACISM!
Spike see Anthony Weiner about Twitting
I’m all about marching on Spike’s house...I missed a lot of Tea Party gatherings, but I am in on this if someone gets something going.
Odinga, Holder and crew put the strong arm on them and this is a way to to shut them up.
Just saw that episode.
I read earlier that he apologized via Twitter..apologized for tweeting the wrong address! didn’t apologize for tweeting Zmans address..
The minute I read that, I had a feeing the McClain family had lawyered up..so, his “apology” was only because a big lawsuit coming his way. Sorry Spike, half-as*** apology won’t save you..
I’m in.
Morgan & Morgan law firm. If you don’t know who they are, they are the bottom of the bottom feeders. In this case I am glad that they are representing this couple, although it is a publicity seeking venture on Morgan’s part.
Charlie Crist did a TV commercial for them after he lost the Gov’r election to Rubio. Morgan was one of his biggest donors.
Do the right thing, people. Sue his weaselly little ass into Dennis Rodman penury.
It’s OK for that scum to apologize and we are expected to accept, yet, Rush Limbaugh’s apologies are ridiculed. I hate liberals and I hate Spike Lee. Someone has his address and I hope he/she posts it for the world to see.
I hate class action suites - the lawyers get millions of bucks, the plaintiffs get a fifty-cent coupon.
But, I could make an exception for this...
The real point is to bankrupt that SOB
If it ever got to a court room here in Seminole Co. I would be first in line to serve jury duty!
Can Shelton Lee say SLAM DUNK?
Last I heard Lee hasn’t even tweeted that the address was incorrect.
I hope all he’s left with is 40 Acres and a Mule. (That’s the name of his production company.
Indeed!!
A swift kick into Shelton’s groin would give him the two acres he deserves!
The McClains are doing the right thing.
Good...in this case I hope they take a big bite outa Spike Lee's bottom.
