Knew an African American gal who couldn’t wait until she turned 18 so she could change here name. She grew up tough and saw the world as it is (ie, wasn’t a lib).
Why did she want to change her name? It was Female, pronounced “fem-al-e.”
She was also a genetic anomoly. WAY smarter than anyone else in her immediate family, esp her truly useless parents.
/not a joke

Why did she want to change her name? It was Female, pronounced fem-al-e. When I was young, my next-door neighbors were a black family. They named their daughters Marvenus and Uranus. That's not so bad, right? Well, their last name was Burns (think about it, Uranus Burns). True, I kid you not. Bet she wanted to change her name when she grew up.

A school teacher friend of mine had a student in her class named Female Higgins - pronounced fee-mollie. The girl said her mother had wanted to name her something else, but the hospital had already named her & put a name tag on the baby girl's wrist.
I have had pets smarter than that!
