Good grief. If the injuries had been “fatal” Mr. Zimmerman would be dead. Does anyone proofread these things?
I suspect the “proofreader” didn’t know the meaning of “fatal,” but had encountered the phrase “fatal injuries” in the past, and just decided that the word belonged where she put it.
