Rubio to Santorum, Gingrich, Paul: 'It's Time Now to Concede'
Tonwhall ^ | 4-5-12 | Kate Hicks

Posted on 04/05/2012 6:38:31 PM PDT by VinL

Marco Rubio, Mitt Romney's highest-profile endorsement, has a message for other GOP presidential (less)hopefuls: pack it in, boys. The primary's over.

Ouch.

As Tina Korbe reported over on Hot Air, the Florida Senator came out strongly for Romney's chances against Barack Obama, illustrating the kind of tenacity desired of a vice presidential nominee.

“I actually think we’re going to have a very good nominee. I think Mitt Romney’s going to be the next president of the United States. And by their own admission, the folks running against Mitt Romney have admitted that they cannot win the primary, that the only way they can win is a floor fight at the convention, which I think would set us back in terms of our goal of replacing Barack Obama.

“So I do believe it’s time now to concede that Mitt Romney has won the Republican nomination, that he’s going to be the Republican nominee, and that if we all get behind him he will be the next president of the United States.”

Well...he sounds vice presidential. Certainly more so than our current number two (sorry for the reminder. It's painful, I know). I could rally around a Romney nomination if he had a principled conservative like Rubio as his running mate. And could you *imagine* a Rubio-Biden debate?!

Obama’s Cauacasian Mini-me hasn’t a prayer this fall. And the absolute utter measure of the uselessness of the GOP is their failure to grasp that.

I just like to see what would happen if there was a clear cut choice between Romney and A Conservative, not 3 or 4 conservatives but A conservative.

Bye the way, this coming from a man that just voted for Newt in the Md primary.

They should tell this shiney-faced rookie to shove it, and stop pandering for the VP spot.

Good post, and practical, too!!! Love Free Republic, but some of the posters here are living in LaLa land!!! Romney is the GOP nominee for POTUS, like him or not!!! Santorum, Gingrich & Paul, good me, good conservatives, but they are going nowhere. Newt is totally toast!!! Rick will destroy himself politically if he goes on. If lose Pennsylvania, which he will to Romney, his bright political career will be over!!! However, if he plays his card hand correctly, he could become a future POTUS!!! The choice is his a waylone!!! I suspect that is what he and staff are mulling over these next few days!!!

If Santorum concedes to Romney and supports him with gusto, he is on his to a very possible POTUS stint in a few years. If not, and....he whines, rants and raves, he will finish himself off, just as Gingrich as done so effectively to himself. Newt’s wounds, most of them, are self-inflicted!!! Most voters know Newt is unstable and they have shunned him by the thousands. The same will happen to Santorum if Rick goes the wrong way and seeks retribution and negative behavior!!!

Rubio is dead on!!! Time for all Conservatives/Republicans to get behind Romney and rid the nation of POTUS Barack (Gangsta Trayvon’s Dad) Hussein (Muslim Brotherhood Adoree) Obama (America’s Traitor POTUS)!!!

Thanks for your encouraging post. As far as I’m concerned, Richard Viguerie, Rebecca Hagelin, Dr. Dobson, and Gary Bauer, et al, really BLEW IT. When Rick drops out before the PA primary, lets see if they have the humility to admit a mistake and hang tough and back a conservative.

I would have loved to had been there.

He is the only one we need. It’s such a shame that so many others do not see that.

Oh well. It is good to know where you stand. See ya!!

Wow. It seems like just yesterday when the word "Rubio" would usher in a HUGE slobbering horde of adoring "freepers" lavishing gushing praises. Where are they now? Newt needs to be at the June convention as a candidate.

I prefer that Mit just drop out of the race and see what kind of differences we see when there are only Conservatives on the ballot.

That makes more sense to me. We've seen entirely too many semi-pro used car salesmen run for the top of the ticket over the years ~ we know their kind now.

We had the same problem with Barry Goldwater that we'd have with Romney. That is that the party rank and file simply won't be behind the candidate.

This is not a Conservative vs. Leftwingtard issue ~ it's just pure politics.

Republican and Conservative voters don't want to vote for MIt ~ we even had a 1 million voter fall off in the Virginia primary when the only choice was a RINO or a nutcase. We know MIt's support is a yard wide and a MM deep ~ that's all it is.

“Ann Coulter is nobody’s fool.”

Ann Coulter is Romney’s fool. ‘Course, since Romney’s a nobody, I guess she’s Nobody’s fool.

But why in the world would you want to be Ann Coulter’s fool?

Rubio sure lost his cachet in a hurry didn't he.

That sort of thing proves conclusively that he's just another professional politician with NO CORE VALUES!

Welcome to the United Soviet States of America..where the Pravda State Media “vet” the candidates to the pleasure and needs of the RinoCrat UniParty.

This “election” will be a non-election...featuring the state approved “candidates”-whose only distinction is whether they are black or white.

“Marco Rubio, Mitt Romney’s highest-profile endorsement, has a message for other GOP presidential (less)hopefuls: pack it in, boys. The primary’s over.”

Well....

Who was that guy (a baseball catcher?) that proclaimed, “it ain’t over ‘til it’s over!” ??

The primaries aren’t “over” until Utah. And then there’s a convention.
Seems to me that’s when “it’s over”....

“If Santorum concedes to Romney and supports him with gusto, he is on his to a very possible POTUS stint in a few years.”

See, you, like, totally, fail to grasp why Santorum’s in this. You think he cares beans about having his turn in a few years?

He cares about trying to stop the trainwreck that is Romney. He cares about conservative ideas, about which Romney cares jack squat.

He needs to stay in this and he needs as many people to vote for him to show Romnoid just how strong the Not-Romney faction of the party is. Otherwise Romney will think that all the Pubblies love him, that Rubio loves him. That Ann Coulter slobber-loves him. How else is Romnoid going to realize that Rubio just selling his a$$ for a mess o’ Romnoid pottage later unless the Not-Romney vote remains at 55-60% all the way to Tampa.

The uniting around Romnoid can take place after Tampa.

This “unite around Romnoid now” business is all about defeating Santorum and NOTHING ELSE, defeating conservativism. It worked in Wisconsin. And because it worked in Wisconsin, it will work even better in Pennsylvania. Convince enough potential Santorum Not-Romney voters that ROmney’s inevitable and the conservative not-Romney movement folds.

Romney needs to have his nose held to the grindstone as long as possible if there’s going to be a ghost of a chance of influencing him to govern conservatively.

It probably won’t work anyway, but it’s all we’ve got left—to try to impress upon him just how many people DON’T WANT him so that he just might remember that 2 years from now.

So stuff it with the “let’s all unite and be nice” crap now. There’ll be time for that later. Right now is the time to vote against him.
