Rubio to Santorum, Gingrich, Paul: 'It's Time Now to Concede'
Tonwhall ^ | 4-5-12 | Kate Hicks

Marco Rubio, Mitt Romney's highest-profile endorsement, has a message for other GOP presidential (less)hopefuls: pack it in, boys. The primary's over.

Ouch.

As Tina Korbe reported over on Hot Air, the Florida Senator came out strongly for Romney's chances against Barack Obama, illustrating the kind of tenacity desired of a vice presidential nominee.

“I actually think we’re going to have a very good nominee. I think Mitt Romney’s going to be the next president of the United States. And by their own admission, the folks running against Mitt Romney have admitted that they cannot win the primary, that the only way they can win is a floor fight at the convention, which I think would set us back in terms of our goal of replacing Barack Obama.

“So I do believe it’s time now to concede that Mitt Romney has won the Republican nomination, that he’s going to be the Republican nominee, and that if we all get behind him he will be the next president of the United States.”

Well...he sounds vice presidential. Certainly more so than our current number two (sorry for the reminder. It's painful, I know). I could rally around a Romney nomination if he had a principled conservative like Rubio as his running mate. And could you *imagine* a Rubio-Biden debate?!

" that the only way they can win is a floor fight at the convention, which I think would set us back in terms of our goal of replacing Barack Obama. "

Giving the nomination to Romney is the same as giving the election to Obama.

When Mitten’s new-bought friends start demanding conservative candidates drop out, they’re really demanding that YOU and I drop out.

Bollocks. Onto the Convention.

Rubio believes he has the power because of the support he received as a “STRONG TRUE CONSERVATIVE.” Now he has changed sides and has made his endorsement and expects us to follow. I’ll happily follow a leader who is willing to go where I want him to go, but Romney or Rubio has given me no reason to follow Romney.

"When Paul, Gingerich and Santorum get all kissy and huggy about Romney are we going to call them traitors too?"

Been around FR for a few days now and it has never ceased to amaze me how quickly "conservative icons" are thrown under the bus, when they say something that doesn't fit the particular mantra of the Freeper reading and posting.

I also, different topic, have never seen so many bloggers on here pimping their blogs. Blogs, like editorials, have a place but far too many of them come off as "hard news reporting".

He has a great shot at being this generation’s Colin Powell project.

Obama Solidifying Lead Among Independents in Swing States Independent women widely favor Obama after previously backing Romney by Jeffrey M. Jones

PRINCETON, NJ -- Barack Obama has a 48% to 39% advantage over Mitt Romney among independent voters in 12 key swing states. He first moved ahead of Romney among this group in February after being tied in January and trailing last year.

Obama's standing against Romney has improved substantially in the swing states among women. Among independents, he has gained among both men and women, but more so among women. In combined data from October and December 2011, Obama trailed Romney by 11 percentage points among independent men and five points among independent women. In combined data from February and March, Obama has a one-point advantage among independent men and a 14-point advantage among independent women.

Rubio is 1000% right.

Newt?! Are you kidding me? His biggest (by far) Gingrich affiliated group, that Newt ran until a few months ago, just filed for bankruptcy. Chapter 7, not Chapter 11. Chapter 7 means it’s a total fire-sale, not a restructuring. Newt’s name brand just ain’t as lucrative as he thought it was. I’ve never sent Newt’s non-profit groups any money and I suspect you never have either.

I am sure Newt will live to solicit funds for his foundations another day but for now he’s totally dead as a political entity.

You should have been here back when half of all freepdom was positively giddy about a Powell presidency.

I have stopped being confrontational with other Freepers, but....I will not stand silent when Barry Goldwater is in play!!! Barry Goldwater, along with Bill Buckley is the “Father of Modern Conservatism”. In 1960, I was in Madison Square Garden in NYC along with 18,000 other Goldwater fans screaming and cheering this magnificent American who nurtured Ronald Reagan on his trek to becoming POTUS!!! I admit as, Barry grew older and remarried, he mellowed a bit, but, then again we all do as we age!!! And.......the Republican Party base, the growing conservatives were his base. It was Rockefeller and Bill Scranton, the GOP liberals that did Goldwater in.

And...IMHO opinion, Romney, while he is far from ideal to us conservatives, he is no weak sister like John (Obama is a good American) McCain. IMHO, Romney has nailed the nomination. You either vote for him, or against him, or, sit on your hands, come election day, November 6, 2012!!! For me.....it’s ABO, period!!! Litttle bit tired of Freepers whinning for what is now impossible, but....it is not impossible that Obama once re-elected, will work to destroy this nation. You might want to let that happen, but for my kids and grandkids, I don’t, no way!!! I’ll vote for a blind monkey, with one hand tied behind his back before I would ever vote for “traitor to America” Obama!!!

"if the Republicans could show a united front maybe, just maybe we could take the Senate. "

That's a joke. We will be extremely lucky to maintain our majority in the House. See my post 50.

Santorum isn’t going to drop out, why should he? He’s
worked harder than Romney, Mr. elevator for my car.

Just giving example...

Pray for Santorum, something good will happen, trust God.

Catholics, a powerful time to pray a prayer of petition is during the consecration after the Holy, Holy, Holy prayer. Remember this Easter Sunday.

I must admit, it’s getting crowded under the bus, what with all the “conservatives we loved, but then said something we didn’t like, so now they’re not conservative anymore” folks.

Karl Rove
Ann Coulter
Paul Ryan
etc.
etc.
Marco Rubio

I love FR but this is just ridiculous. (By the way, I’ve spent some time lurking in Dummieland and, believe it or not, they treat their folks the same way.)
