Charles Manson, now 77, gets new chance at parole

LOS ANGELES—

This post has been corrected. See the note below.

After 11 failed bids for freedom, notorious killer Charles Manson, now 77, is up for parole later this month. The parole board rejected his bid in 2007, saying Manson [For the record, 9:42 a.m. April 5: An earlier version of this post incorrectly gave the killer's last name as Mason.] "continues to pose an unreasonable danger to others and may still bring harm to anyone he would come in contact with."

Manson refused to participate in that hearing, describing himself as a "prisoner of the political system." He also declined to participate in any psychological evaluations in 2007.

“What’s funny is everyone thinks of grandmothers as kindly old ladies, like their own grandmother. Yet they were young and slutty and violent and drunken and vicious once too.”

We certainly were! Those were the days,my friend.

Forgot about that and those auto trips from hell.

We had some great vacations though.

But I believe you’re wrong.

I don't think so Jack.

Manson didn’t kill Hinman, it was Bobby Beausoleil who stabbed Hinman to death.

And Manson did not kill a Black Panther either.

It was a guy named Crowe, who Charlie thought was a BP, and Charlie only wounded the guy, I believe he shot Crowe with a .25, but did not kill him, only wounded.

If ya don't believe me, feel free to look it up Jack.

William Ayers’ wife applauded the cultists murdering “pigs” in their home, including a pregnant woman, and then eating their food.

The Weather Underground did kill people and commit treason against this nation on behalf of the North Vietnamese military in a time of war.

THOSE hippie punks are still walking the streets free, committed THEIR last known act of violence in the 1980s (a bank robbery) and have been welcomed by the current occupant of the White House.

Manson harbored murderers and approved of the killings. He did not kill anyone himself in this case (although there were rumors of bodies being buried at the ranch, the land was turned into a housing development if I recall and I do not recall any stories of “more Manson victims” being discovered).

There are more demonic figures from the 1960s who haven’t been called half the boogey man that Charles Manson is.

I do not advocate his release. But in faireness, you shoudl recognize that prosecutor Bugliosi is just as mad about G.W.Bush’s “murders” as he is about Manson’s.

To be honest, Vincent Bugliosi looks nearly dead in comparison to Manson.

And both have weird religious beliefs they'd like to impress upon others.

There is no “fairness” across the board, all guilty people should be tried for their crimes and punished accordingly..... but they aren't.

Some not only skate for their murderous crimes, like Ted Kennedy and the Underground folks, but are even CELEBRATED by the Left as HEROES.

A lot of demons walking free and being supported by public paying jobs. And they don’t just do a little clerical work and keep quiet about the things they once did. They actively work to make things BAD for the entire nation.

Manson’s impact is blown out of proportion compared to some villains of the 1960s and 70s.

I’m for paroling him as soon as those he killed come back to life.

Who did he kill?

I don’t think Charlie Manson himself killed, but his ‘family’ did, they’re still in prison for the murders. It’s like saying Hitler really didn’t kill anyone. Personally.

Notorious killer? Who did he kill?

Shorty Shea - one of the cowboys from the Spahn Ranch

Trial? Evidence? Confession?

Or can we string him up next to Zimmerman?

Nixon pronounced Manson guilty before trial just as Obama has nearly done in Zimmerman’s case.

Again, were bodies found on the Spahn Ranch?

If there are more crimes to charge Manson with, go right ahead.

I am bothered when someone is prosecuted for ONE charge out of multiple murders (on separate occasions) and then the criminal tries to get off death row on a technicality for the prosecution or witness testimony. Multiple convictions mean they will stay behind bars or get the needle.

Gary Graham had a big round of celebrity support to try to bust him out even though he shot a man (who lived) through the jaw while attempting to steal his car. If that case had been prosecuted, the victim would have seen some justice in his case.

Rumors and innuendo of other unsolved murders does not a conviction make.

They did find the body

There were witnesses

he was already on death row - why waste the money prosecuting him

He is not on death row. His sentence was commuted to life. That’s why he’s up for parole again.

I read your second sentence and the third one twice. That’s what’s wrong with sentencing.

He wasn’t single out for commutation. It was a temporary suspension of the death penalty. He could be charged for another murder case and given the death penalty. But some think that’s a crazy concept since he’s already in jail.

If he butchered someone, he should be charged with the crime.

For now, he sits in prison with a death sentence for a criminal conspiracy charge that entailed some gobledygook about the Beatles’ White Album by a prosecutor who made national news and remains a celebrity to this day with books on everything from crime to international politics and religion.

The Wonderland murders were as brutal and the prosecution let the perps walk. The drug kingpin behind them was eventually sentenced for some kind of financial crime rather than sending a goon squad and a celebrity porn star to butcher 4 people at home. The drug kingpin was connected with city officials.

LA is a corrupt town. Has been a long time. Jack Webb had the LAPD tap his wife’s phone during their divorce proceedings.

pardon my simplistic view. People on death row should be executed. People who have the sentence of life, should not be granted parole.

May not need to be said. I am neither a lawyer or a politician.

It was considered “cruel and unusual punishment” to reinstate the death sentences for those who’d had their sentences commuted during the suspension.

The law is a ass.
