On Monday, former Arkansas governor and one-time Republican presidential candidate Mike Huckabee will launch a three-hour radio program on almost 200 stations across the country, going voice-to-voice with Limbaugh in the noon-to-3 p.m. time slot, Monday through Friday.
Cumulus Media, which owns and operates the new program, is already pitching Huckabee to listeners and advertisers as the safe alternative to a man who has recently found himself under weeks of intense fire - not for the first time - and who some believe could be vulnerable to a challenge from someone offering a kinder, gentler conservative voice.
Our tagline is, More conversation, less confrontation, Huckabee told POLITICO. Im going to treat every guest with respect and civility. Nobody is going to come on and get into a shouting match with me. Thats just not my style.
Making a direct comparison with Limbaugh, John Dickey, the co-COO of Cumulus Media, adds, This is going to be safer from a commercial standpoint, and more respectful from a listeners perspective. I think that environment has been sorely lacking in talk radio.
While representatives of The Rush Limbaugh Show, a Clear Channel property, and its syndicator, Premiere Networks, agree Huckabee will, in fact, offer a safer alternative, they strongly reject any suggestion that he poses a threat to Limbaughs audience and enormous influence. In their eyes, Huckabee is just the latest in a long line of would-be competitors who have never been able to measure up.

Absolutely true & very good point. Personally I cannot stand listening to Sean Hannity as he is the worst when it comes to constantly interrupting people and talking over them. I wish he would shut up (or his guests should tell him to shut up so they can answer his 6 part questions)

I give the Huckster's BORING program 6 months or less, until it folds due to shear boredom & PC correctness.

PETE
Well, I’ll be a sonofabitch. Delmar’s
been saved!
EVERETT
Pete, don’t be ignorant-
Delmar is slogging back through the water.
DELMAR
Well that’s it boys, I been redeemed!
The preacher warshed away all my
sins and transgressions. It’s the
straight-and-narrow from here on out
and heaven everlasting’s my reward!
EVERETT
Delmar what the hell are you talking
about? - We got bigger fish to fry-
DELMAR
Preacher said my sins are warshed
away, including that Piggly Wiggly I
knocked over in Yazoo!
EVERETT
I thought you said you were innocent
a those charges.
DELMAR
Well I was lyin’ - and I’m proud to
say that that sin’s been warshed
away too! Neither God nor man’s got
nothin’ on me now! Come on in, boys,
the water’s fine!
Everett drives, shaking his head with a forebearing smile.
Pete, sitting next to him, and Delmar, in back, are both
dripping wet.
Pete is sullen:
PETE
The preacher said it absolved us.
EVERETT
For him, not for the law! I’m
surprised at you, Pete. Hell, I gave
you credit for more brains than
Delmar.
DELMAR
But there were witnesses, saw us
redeemed!
EVERETT
That’s not the issue, Delmar. Even
if it did put you square with the
Lord, the State of Mississippi is
more hardnosed.
It's mostly Rush. The man loves to hear himself talk. Can't stand the man.
What a RINO’s RINO. This guy has proven to be a steady disappointment. You know, I actually regret he was the music entertainment for the 2000 FR Inaugeral Ball.
It’s folks like Mike that keep us bogged down with ‘compromising’ with the left. No one notice the reference to ‘half a loaf is better than no loaf’ by Supreme court justice Kagan.
Note: They always come after the other half.
It would be an instant cure for Insomnia.

“Huckabees falling for an old game. If he was half the ethical person he thinks he is, he’d go for a timeslot OTHER than one held by an established conservative. Shame on his pettiness, shame on his gullibility.”
I agree. I’ve thought he was gulled (or used) into running in the last election, because his actions only split the vote and helped get McCain the nomination.
So I don't think he'll be going head-to-head with Rush in NYC.
He's actually a bass player....and a pretty darned good one. That's one thing about his FNC show that I DO envy. He brings on some killer musical guests and gets to jam with 'em. I'd do the same in a heartbeat. :)
LOL
Huckabee will end up apologizing for his lame attempt at media attention.
Idiot.
More conversation, less confrontation
Air America.
And I’ve wondered why so many Left Leaning Entertainers have been on his show lately.
Looks like his employer is using their clout to stack the deck.
Won’t work though. Rush owns his time slot.
I can’t stand him, to me he is not likeable. fox could do better then him.
The photographer is personally responsible for destroying Huckabees campaign. He either worked for a railraod or sold Ben Davis clothes on the side.
According to radio-info.com, one Willard Mitt Romney is the first guest
>>Its launch day for Cumulus Media Networks The Mike Huckabee Show, debuting live Monday, noon to 3 p.m. on 180+ stations around the nation. The former Arkansas Governors conservative political talk show is going for the big guns on day one, with scheduled guest Mitt Romney...In an obvious dig to Rush Limbaugh, Huckabee says in Cumulus press release, I’ve spent the last couple of months gearing up and talking to listeners about the kind of talk radio they want: more conversation, less confrontation. Let’s get started.”
