Police Find 5 ‘Horrified’ Nearly Naked BU Students In Fraternity House

BOSTON (CBS) – Five nearly naked college students were found shivering in a Brighton basement Monday, tied together with duct tape.

Boston Police say they found the group terrified and humiliated. There were also signs the Boston University students may have been beaten.

The early morning raid left police officers stunned.

No one answered the door at 24 Ashford Street Monday night, but when police responded early Monday morning, they found the male students circled in the basement, stripped to their underwear.

Police responded to the house after a call about a loud party.

According to police:

“All five were shivering and had horrified and fearful looks on their faces. They were all tied together via duct tape wrist to wrist to form a human chain. Officer asked if they were alright and got no verbal answer. Victim looked right at Officer and with tears coming down his face shook his head from right to left and back indicating no.”

Police say several condiment-type items were poured on the students, including flour, coffee grinds, fish sauce, chili sauce, honey, hot sauce, mustard, and empty sardine cans.

The students also had red welts on their backs, investigators said, indicating that they may have been beaten.

Police say it’s an underground fraternity, Alpha Epsilon Pi.

A Boston University spokesperson told WBZ-TV that members of the same unrecognized fraternity were already under investigation for a previous incident.

Last month, the school cut ties with a sorority on Ashford Street after another alleged hazing incident.

“We hold all of our students accountable for any violation of the code of student responsibilities, whether it happens on or off campus. We are very concerned for the alleged victims,” B.U. spokesman Colin Riley said in a statement.

There were no arrests, but police are considering criminal charges.

Fathers and Mothers, look to your daughters - because if you don’t, others will.

I think those in charge have become sadists who actually enjoy torturing others as a control issue (personality defect)

>> Five nearly naked college students were found shivering in a Brighton basement... police say it’s an underground fraternity

OK, that fits... now if they had found them in the *attic*, *that* would be strange.

The worst thing the brothers do is make them wear a tie once a week.

LOL!

I went to a small private college, and we had to wear a tie and jacket to dinner every evening.

I like good fun, a decent roast, and a good ribbing as much as the next guy; you TOUCH me and you’re an ER case — like — NOW.

yep, it's basically a cover for bullies and weaklings who couldn't kick anyone's ass so they have the cover of the frat.

They're everywhere. My father told me about a douche bag in Paris Island march a bunch of boots into the swamp and killed them with the same mentality. He said he had some booze, got pissed off and just marched them into the swamp. Probably had been done a bunch before , but this time he killed 5-6 boots. Said he was a crappy DI and hated his guts cause he was a bully.

He never let me "join" anything but Corps. Frats were a f'ing joke when I went back to school. I discourage my girls from any guys in those except for the service organizations... like Engineering, Business Majors etc... other than that in my very limited exposure it's just a way of pooling resources to chase tail, buy booze, pass school notes and prolong high school. Like I said before, if you want that and are willing to take the beating/humiliation/group think... go for it. It looks fun and expensive, I just couldn't hang around guys like that. I've got 2-3, 3a.m., bail me out of jail, bury a body friends I just never needed to rent any.

I was lucky. I went to A&M.

I was starting to agree with you, then I read this. Hearing an Aggie make fun of other people's traditions is like having your manhood questioned by Barney Frank.

I guess they never told you about the Aggie "jizz jar." I'd also take popped up collars over this:

Whenever I see someone wearing a fraternity sweater or talking about their fraternity I always wonder what go awful thing did they do to become a member.

Not all fraternities haze physically. My hell week was 95% mental (lack of sleep, psy ops, etc.) versus physical. I was never once hit or struck in any form or fashion. I was so tired by the end of the week that I am pretty sure that I hallucinated (no drugs, alcohol, etc.) but that was about it.

yep. I was "independent". went to A&M after a couple of years as MOS 0321 but never got the 8654. The corps at A&M is like any college organization. Unless you have senior NCO's that will bust some balls, the little sadists come out to play. It's the same in the Corps. I've seen some real bad "training accidents" when people got out of line. Fall off stuff, run into stuff and sometimes just decide that their brain housing group needed to be adjusted. But the first sign of hazing, laxity of discipline or any of this stuff occurs, you gotta drop a frickin sledgehammer on it. HARD.

We were brothers and training for something different than the Corps of Cadets or frats. But I have to tell you, there are some fine young men that came out of the Corps of Cadets and still do. Aggie Muster names a lot of them. ..that's another "tradition" I love about A&M.

Your reply to my post #8.

if it is unrecognized how does the university claim jurisdiction?

Your point well taken and it is certainly a valid one. I will follow this carefully and note whether the University could be held accountable in any way, shape or form.

Cordially.

I played college football and figured the frat boys couldn’t teach me much about being a man.

“I’d recommend that college kids not join fraternities, sororities or attend their parties...”

Parities might be ok, since they’re not interested in scaring off people (just don’t try to drive home). But trying to join, NO THANKS. I never even considered that during my college years, and I still have a job and make good money. Just not needed.

“Life gives us hazing enough, not to mention DI’s in Basic.”

Back in college an acquaintance was in ROTC. He pledged some Frat and went through the whole thing, and this was back when hazing and stuff was a big deal to weed most of the pledges out. At the final ceremony when he was supposed to raise his hand or whatever he declined, said he just did it to prove that frat guys aren't special and left the house. I think he also said something about how they were pussies compared to the military.

Maybe in an odd way it was his own way of preparing for Basic?
