Romney's record in Massachusetts was with a Democratic legislature. Even with Romney’s substantial defects, he is preferable to Obama.

You people keep saying that, but it's not true. Romney is a leftist and if (God forbid) he gets elected president, he will be calling a leftist tune and there will be no meaningful opposition from Republicans. At least with Obama, the Republicans are forced to oppose out of political necessity. With Romney, no such pressure exists.

The Tea Party and GOP grass roots will keep the heat on Romney and a Republican Congress. In addition, the federal operational and generational deficits are so immense that the bond and currency markets will force spending cuts and reforms at the federal level, and GOP business interests will insist on regulatory reforms.
