Newt Gingrich Primary Check Bounces

Republican presidential candidate Newt Gingrich may not appear on the ballot for the June 26 Utah primary, after a $500 check — the required filing fee — bounced, an official said.

State election director Mark Thomas told ABC News that a $500 check given by the Gingrich campaign to secure his place on the Utah ballot bounced on March 27.

“Our office immediately attempted to contact the campaign and the designated agent but no phone calls were returned,” Thomas said. “We also asked the state Republican Party to assist us, but they also could not get into communication with them, although I do not know how they attempted to contact them.”

Agreed. I can’t stand Romney, but I loathe and detest Obama and what he’s trying to accomplish. The lesser of two evils is what we face. It sucks, but that’s the reality of the situation :(

Why? He does have a lot of jewlery, doens’t he?

So this is what FR has come to? Anyone that jokes or says anything about Newt or Rick or Sarah or Hermann or anyone other than Romney, automatically they get branded as a Romney supporter?

That’s pathetic

For NAVY, I’m surprised at your colossal lack of vision for the big picture.

These thread trolls for Romney seem to think that ANY resistance going forward is ALL and ONLY about getting Newt the nomination.

Blue in the face we’ve said that should Newt ever win, lose or draw, the GOP-E deserves a protest at convention and Newt is just the man to roar in there and take it to them.

NEWT has not suspended, Santorum suspended.

Newt’s been our guy and there are states and delegates to be won for him, but more than that, there is a convention coming, and we get NOTHING by caving for Romney. No concessions, no nothing.

I’m IN until Newt’s OUT. Bring it on.

MONEY BOMB for Newt TODAY. Whoo HOO!!

If Romney LOSES 564 out of the 1,053 delegates from the remaining states, then he does not reach the magic 1,144 number. Challenges to the FL and AZ allocations could increase his deficit.

Based on how few times Romney won over 50% of the vote in previous states, if all the non-Romney voters consolidated around Newt now, Romney would lose 18 of the remaining 20 states.

Denying Romney the nomination is doable and is still TOTALLY in the hands of the voters, not the elites.

It's good that you have such a dedicated loyalty to Newt. I feel the same way about him as you do. However, Newt has always been disfavored among the elite in the GOPE. So he was targeted and destroyed quite completely.

Santorum has already met with Romney and we will not see an exchange of Santorum’s delegates move over to Newt, like some here are fabricating.

It is only realistic, to understand that there is no way Newt can turn the race around. The votes will just not be there for him. He is also so strapped for money and support, that it in impossible for him to suddenly take charge of the race, or even force a contested convention.

It is what it is. The focus now needs to go in the direction of beating Obama, plain and simple. We need to get a positive attitude, or we lose. That, is also plain and simple.

I wonder who is writing the Rominy talking points memos we’re being spat upon with today? Do ya suppose it’s Rove? The subtlety factor with knife plunged into the back nature hints at Rove.

Primary voters in my state and 19 others have not spoken yet. It’s insulting for you to discredit our votes. Romney needs to win over half of the remaining delegates to secure the nomination. This is a very different race now. Just think what would happen if a new poll came out tomorrow showing Newt ahead of Romney. Everyone’s attitude would change. Therefore this is all still up to the voters. If they don’t throw their support to Romney, he can be denied the nomination and we will have a chance to nominate a BETTER candidate at the convention. If you want to focus on beating Obama, you should focus on getting a NON-ROMNEY as your nominee, which can be done simply if the voters who never had Romney as their first choice now consolidate around Newt. Romney is a general election loser-in-waiting.

geez - did you read the story, the state has been calling him to try and fix the problem. Maybe you should consider that this is an example of Newt’s management style. I remind people that his “friends” in the congress voted him out of the leadership for some reason. Those of us a long way from him don’t know why this very bright very articulte man seems to make more enemies than friends...inside his party.

Well then, while the rest of us are tuned in watching the exciting speeches given in Tampa in August, by people like Rubio, Palin, Newt, Christie, Cain, and the VP nominee, you may as well find out what’s going on over on ABC’s Dancing With The Stars. Because if you really believe Romney is a communist, then for you the election doesn’t matter. Then again Ron Paul may hold his own convention, like he did last time. Always room for you in the crowd.

Hey, it IS tough right now, but this is bigger than Newt getting the nomination.

That’s what I’m UP for. The real battle and the larger picture. It’s taking it to the GOP-E at the convention, making Romney bleed for every delegate between now and 1144, rubbing some elite RINO and media noses in hopefully a PROTEST they will never forget, best delivered by Newt, in spades.

These people have collapsed the Republican Party on purpose and right on time. They deserve to sweat this thing out until the doors open at convention. They have shoveled HUGE money to shove a socialist down our throat who was enabled to cut the legs out from any conservative who dared to run, and it’s an abomination.

WIN, lose or draw, Newt’s still IN. He has relatively small debt—4 million—so he is in this because he is a SOB, a fighter, and has just enough madness in him to crawl up their @$$$ and hand them their hat. I hope, BG, he does just that, even if it’s verbally.

Check out #45.

Maybe the people will rally against a Republican socialist, but if WE don’t, who will?

But, yes, I will be where I need to be in the general, but we’re in a primary I thought. Media is trying to end this thing, that’s for sure. Thank you, PF...... Rita

I’m stickin’ with Newt.

That's cute.

Some are still sticking with Fred Thompson. They just know it might pull it out.

Reality bites:

Newt turned out to be the little engine who could------n't. If he couldn't win more than 2 primaries, what magic will make him win againt Obama?

Don't let your anger or overemotional reflexes, direct your thinking or your actions.

This is not as extreme as many here are trying to escalate them to. Everyone needs to just calm down and get grounded in reality again.

We need to beat Obama. Period. There should be no other concern at the moment. There is way too much emphasis being placed on defeating our own side, which will guarantee that we fail.

The real enemy is raging out of control right before our eyes. Look at the National Debt, Inflation/food prices, Energy prices, refineries/Coal mines being shut down weekly, 88 million people have left the work force, etc,,,,.

We all have much bigger fish to fry, than to destroy the candidate that the voters among our own party have chosen. To band with the Democrats, to help them destroy us, is the equivalent of helping a firing squad take aim, by helping them steady the rifles that are aimed directly at our own heads.

Many of us need to take pause a bit. We’re all on the same side of the fence. The primaries have been fought fair and square (within the legal rules), and the people who are voting on the ground will pick the nominee.

Your advice would be more palatable if it was at all factual. Here in VA the rules WERE changed after the fact, with the support of a Romney-backing governor, and Romney held to a different standard than the other candidates (except wacko Paul, of course). I never got a chance to vote for Gingrich or Santorum, because the powers-that-be gamed the system to deny me that choice. Don't pee down my back and tell me it's raining (or that I have to enthusiastically support a moderate shoved down my throat).

We ARE NOT on the same side. I am on the side of personal freedom, small responsible government, moral values, and American exceptionalism. Romney is a medical-mandate, big spending, gay-marriage implementing, big government establishment RINO. Even if he's better than Obama, he's still bad! And you expect me to be HAPPY about it?!?!?!

I am angry, yes, but don’t see my post as overly emotional, given all the givens we both agree upon.

I conceded that I will be where I need to be on election day, but I see no need to throw the rest of the primary for the quirky one, who has yet to utter a word on the specifics of resolving squat, especially when there stands Newt. But, that’s just me.

Speaker of the House is not a “manager”, in fact, if you want to use this as ‘evidence’ of his ‘managerial’ abilities, there’s not much of a positive reputation from his underlings on that score for his tenure as “Speaker of the House”.

I have never been a Romney supporter. You just seem to easily disparage factual opinion if it doesn't fit your "I worship ______" (fill in the blank). Yes, of course it has to be "Romney talking points", if you try to point out the obvious weakness of a candidate.
