Newt Gingrich Primary Check Bounces
ABC News ^ | Elica Dover

Republican presidential candidate Newt Gingrich may not appear on the ballot for the June 26 Utah primary, after a $500 check — the required filing fee — bounced, an official said.

State election director Mark Thomas told ABC News that a $500 check given by the Gingrich campaign to secure his place on the Utah ballot bounced on March 27.

“Our office immediately attempted to contact the campaign and the designated agent but no phone calls were returned,” Thomas said. “We also asked the state Republican Party to assist us, but they also could not get into communication with them, although I do not know how they attempted to contact them.”

Geez yourself. I did read the “story” and saw where some official had reported. So do you think that Newt wrote the hot check? Or maybe Newt refused to return their call?

Maybe they stopped payment when someone finally figured out that pissin away $500 in Utah could have been better spent elsewhere.

Geez, you think maybe Mitt’s dirtyassed campaign could be behind any of this?????

If it comes down to Mitt or nobama, of course I’ll vote Mitt, but we are by no means to that point yet. Regardless of what all the Mittbots want to make us think he ain’t got the nomination yet and I’ll stick with Newt until whomever is nominated.

What I have suggested to many folks unhappy with the present challenger, chosen via the primaries, is to WORK to get rid of the congress of old lawyers. Luger and Hatch are two and Marchant in TX could go too. Remember it is a bunch of folks sending money back to their district during Bush 2002-2007 that ruined the republican party image of conservatives in Wahsington.

The EPA story about the folks in Idaho and their wet lands started under Bush not Obambi. It is time to clean out the government, presidents have not done much, maybe some new congressmen and women would help us get control.

-"Romney is a medical-mandate, big spending, gay-marriage implementing, big government establishment RINO. Even if he's better than Obama, he's still bad! And you expect me to be HAPPY about it?!?!?!"

No. Why would I expect you to be "happy about it". When, I am not "happy" about it either.

You want to blame somebody for us having Romney as the nominee? Blame both Gingrich and Santorum for both being selfish and staying in the race to split up the the conservative / anti-Romney vote.

After South Carolina, both of them should have met to see who had the best chance, resources, and support to unite against Romney. They didn't. And why didn't they? Because of the primary reason they got into the race to begin with - because it was more about "them", and not a vision of advancing the conservative agenda of 2010.

They only reason either of these two got the support they did at the end, was not on any account of their past following, or track records, or accomplishments, it was because the conservative voters had nowhere else to go following the implosions of Perry, Bachmann, and Cain. That's the only reason anybody wound up supporting these two candidates. These two, who neither were above 5% in the polls in August 2011, wound up looking like 'saviors' to many who were still hoping for some 'conservative' knight in shining armor to rescue the day. Sadly, they both chose to run their own 'personal' campaigns until they were no more, and with it the hopes to be able to defeat Romney and keep him from getting the nomination.

You can cry all you want about it, and call other people out by saying "WE ARE NOT ON THE SAME SIDE" when you don't want to face the facts and don't want to hear why we are stuck with Romney.

By the way, Newt ran a disastrous campaign, and couldn't manage anything. He should get all the credit for not qualifying in VA, not Romney.

I worship God, and not the god of LDS inc. Are you a Mormon, making such foolery comments and trying to pretend you’re not hyping Milt Rominy?

I am a Roman Catholic, and I am not “hyping Milt Romney”, and I am not a Romney supporter, and no, I don’t have a problem with a Mormon becoming President solely based on their religion, unless we have Mormon terrorists out there.

I agreee...if Texas changes to all or nothing...then there are 150 delegate points for Newt... as no self respecting Texan is going to vote for Mitt Romney (Obamacare Lite) after he announced that he wouldn’t come to Texas and debate.

The state of Utah will vote for Milt Rominy because he is a fellow mormon and a hgih Priest int hat cult. Your efforts to destroy Newt’s image are duly noted and claiming to be Roman Catholic isn’t a plus when you are posting duplicitous crap. A true Catholic wouldn’t be accusing a fellow Christian of ‘worshipping’ some politician. ... To put it another way, I don’t believe you for a second.

You're delusional. Santorum has had the fight all to himself for the past month or so (with Gingrich in the single digits) and hasn't made a dent. Why? Because the Republican establishment did their best to stack the deck. They made sure the funding, the press (i.e. Fox News, et al.), the endorsements all came in for Romney early. Romney and the GOP-e BOUGHT this nomination... before the process even started. The amazing thing is how much the people were able to resist. Romney should have had it wrapped up in February... but the actual voters didn't like him. So the money went to target and smear every not-Romney in contention. There is no doubt in my mind that Romney money funded the Cain accusers, the Gingrich smears, the Santorum rumors... not a doubt.

So we are not "stuck" with Romney... we were stuck with Romney (from the beginning). Which is why the Republican party won't be getting a dime of my money or a minute of my time. I'll support local candidates who are worthy, but the national GOP is dead to me...

No problem. That's entirely your choice.

Newt still has time. All he has to do is start talking about Obama’s forged credentials.

How bad does he want it? (Or should I say how bad does he want to stay alive.)

Romney "does not" win the GOP 2012 nomination ...

It will be Newt and Sarah Palin ...

You really believe that there is a difference between Obama and Romney?

The two wings of the Government Party offer you the choice of a disorganized and self indulgent megalomaniac leftwing progressive,Obama, or the focused and self disciplined megalomaniac leftwing progressive,Romney. The organized one -will- accomplish more harm if elected.

PS; a Chief is always right

maybe this section of a story at National Review might help explain my feelings about Newt's financial decision process

Campaign insiders attribute the problems partly to Gingrich and his wife Callista’s, asserting that the couple was unwilling to downgrade from private jets and security details even as the campaign floundered. Insiders say Callista Gingrich required an entourage of at least two staffers — including one who dressed in an elephant costume to promote her children’s book – and a contracted security guard who followed her even on non-campaign trips.

The scramble to retire debt comes as Newt Gingrich is loaning his campaign thousands of dollars to keep him out on the trail, and he’s eying an uncertain political and financial future, since “Newt, Inc.” — the network of companies and non-profits that made his fortune – has crumbled.

“They overspent to keep up the appearances of being a top-tier candidate,” asserted Greg Fournier, a Central Florida consultant who chaired Gingrich’s effort in Daytona Beach’s Volusia County. “If you have a campaign bus and you’re flying in on a chartered jet, but you do not have the money for that, you end up sacrificing your ground game,” he said. . . . -
