Charles Manson quickly denied parole
LA Times ^ | April 11, 2012 | Andrew Blankstein and Shelby Grad

A California parole board Wednesday quickly rejected parole for convicted mass murderer Charles Manson, a prison spokesman said.

Manson did not attend the hearing, which was the 12th in which state officials concluded Manson was too great a danger to be released.

The board was expected to make a ruling Wednesday afternoon, and it's unclear exactly why the decision was rendered so quickly.

Before the hearing, his attorney, DeJon R. Lewis, said he would like to see Manson transferred to Atascadero State Hospital from the state prison near Corcoran. "Charles Manson does not need incarceration at this point in his life," Lewis told CNN. "He needs hospitalization."

You mean the gif?

It was from a clip of an interview with Manson answering the question: “Tell me in a sentence who you are”

He drove murderers to the LaBianca home and ordered them murdered, he’s as guilty as the ones that brutally stabbed them to death.

“Jihad” is Arabic for “Helter-Skelter”; “Osama bin-Laden” for “Charles Manson”.

It has been a long time since I read Helter Skelter, but it was my take that one of the women killed Tate. Sharon Atkins states she stabbed her. I’m not going into all the details, but this was a particularly vile senseless set of murders. (admittedly restating the obvious here)

Anyone involved at any level should have been fried in the early 70s.

This link will touch on a number of the issues. It doesn’t get as graphic as it could.

The account I read, had Atkins trying to kill her (complete with her infamous demonic reply when Sharon Tate was begging for her life and that of her baby), but she had to call in the crazed Watson to finish her off. IIRC, Watson had a starring role in all 7 murders.

All involved should have gone to the San Quentin gas chamber no later than 1971.

No, he needs injection.

He conceived the entire plan and gave the orders:

On the afternoon of August 8, 1969, Manson set his plan in motion. Calling together several Family members, Manson announced, “Now is the time for Helter Skelter.” That evening he told three female members of the Family—Susan Atkins, Patricia Krenwinkel, and Linda Kasabian—to get an additional change of clothes, a knife, and a driver’s license. Manson discussed details of his plan with a fourth Family member, Charles “Tex” Watson before all four piled into an old Ford. As they drove down the driveway of the ranch, Manson stuck his head in the car window and told them “to leave a sign.” He said, “You girls know what I mean, something witchy.” Although Tex understood his mission fully, the three women knew neither their destination nor that the night was destined for murder.

...Manson, meanwhile, expressed his displeasure with the attack at the Tate residence. Too messy, he thought. He decided to accompany the next Helter Skelter mission, which he scheduled for that very night. In addition to the four Family members from the previous night’s mission, Manson was joined by Clem Tufts and Leslie Van Houten. Manson ordered Kasabian to cruise the neighborhoods of Los Angeles, in search for potential victims, before settling on the home of Leno and and Rosemary LaBianca. Watson, Krenwinkel, and Van Houten were the killers chosen by Manson. As they left the car, Manson told them: “Don’t let them know you are going to kill them.”

That was just really creepy. In ‘69 I was 11 and even then I knew he scared the cr@p out of me. They should just dump his ashes in the dump, were he belongs.

Well it’s the old “If I told you to jump off a bridge” adage, and some nut drove you there and you did it who is to blame? This isn’t the military we are talking about, this is civilian life where responsibility wasn’t given wholly to those who committed the murders. Anytime you see an interview with Susan Atkins or those others women its all “Charlie Charlie Charlie” same with the press to the point where now people believe Manson was one of the people who killed but he wasn’t. Charlie was and is a freakin nut, that’s where is starts and ends with him. Once people start excusing behavior because of some nut then you get Germany 1939 or Obama 2012 which is why you have all these fanatics running about like the OWS protestors and the New Black panthers calling for the head of Zimmerman because they’ve been given carte blanche by this nut in the WH.

Isn’t accessory before, after, and during the act sufficent complicity to get the death sentence in a capital murder?

Of course, with today’s “lawyers” who’d happily defend Hitler, there’s no way to know.

Because 40-odd years later, Charles Manson is still both evil incarnate and nuttier than squirrel puke? Did the obvious never cross this journalist's mind?

He may have done that. As I said, it’s been a long time since I’ve read about it.

As for Manson, I think he’s as coherent as he wants to be.

People want to think he was crazy, because they can’t quite grasp that level of evil people like him actually do exist.
