Could someone help me out here??

I thought it was the job of a special prosecutor to do an investigation to see if a crime has been committed, not how an accused person can be prosecuted.

Am I right??

Based upon what we know, please tell me how she can prove beyond a reasonable doubt the three elements of the crime:

“In order to convict a defendant in Florida of Second-degree murder, the State of Florida must prove the following three elements beyond a reasonable doubt:

The victim is dead; The death was caused by the criminal act of the defendant; There was an unlawful killing of the victim by an act imminently dangerous to another and demonstrating a depraved mind without regard for human life.”

Thanks. OK, here goes:

1. The victim is dead: Obvious

2. The death was caused by the criminal act of the defendant: Again, obvious. Zimmerman shot Martin, which caused his death.

3. There was an unlawful killing of the victim by an act imminently dangerous to another and demonstrating a depraved mind without regard for human life.: This one is the tricky one. There was clearly a killing (leaving aside the "unlawful" part, since more than enough has been said about that already), and Zimmerman's act of shooting him was clearly "imminently dangerous to another." The "depraved mind without regard for human life" part is tough to prove. I think this, too, will come down to the self-defense issue, because the prosecutor will likely argue that, without justification, the act of intentionally shooting someone is an act that, in itself, demonstrates a depraved mind. I doubt that any jury that would find that Zimmerman's actions were not justified would somehow also find that he did not act with a depraved mind.

LOL...This circus coming out of Florida, is just over the top...I’ve never seen such PC race baiting BS in my entire life.

The female prosecutor and her pathetic speech conference as if she was speaking to an audience of 4th grade children was unreal.

He’s always said he did it. The question is why and how did he come to be on the ground.

I have more faith in the justice system than that Eva. Most jurists take their roles so seriously. They will listen to the evidence and the arguments....the judge. Let’s wait and see. Also, we have not seen the evidence. You know the Anthony jury knew how unpopular that verdict would be but felt the state had not proved its case...even though they felt she was guilty. That is exactly what they are supposed to do. We can hope ..after the evidence is in, we will get a just verdict no matter which way it goes.

Mrs. Dallas Sun and good morning to you too. I did not say how I felt about the praying with the family. Actually, I dont feel either way about it. Does not matter to me. That is what she does. And I do not care. Does not bother me if she does or does not.

This is very different than the Casey Anthony case. That case was not political. This case is nothing but political.

No, no, Eva. Not faith in the DOJ. I have faith in the jury system. The jurists will receive jury instructions..and they are very sobering, before they go into the deliberation room. Those instructions leave one with no doubt about what you are charged with doing. If the evidence is not there, he will get an acquittal. If there is evidence we obviously are not privy to at this time, he won’t.

Well, Free Republic can help raise money for him. He does have a Facebook page with a link to his Pay Pal account. If someone could post a link to his page, that would be a good thing. Being chronically broke in two currencies, I can’t do much right now, but others might, and I might later when things improve.

I am responding to Eva who posts intelligent, mature posts. I do not respond to immature, rude posts laced with name calling. Should that person desire a response, they need to stop the name calling and not be rude. Until this time arrives, this person is wasting keystrokes.

The link is obvious to some of us. Pam Bondi is likely to get a Federal Appointment if Romney wins. Corey would then get the Attorney General job in Florida. Her press conference was a campaign speech, nothing more.

This prosecutor and her team sat there and prayed with Martin's family? And Ms. DallasSun thinks this is perfectly normal on a professional level.

Does not matter to me.

Of course it doesn't matter to you, as your the one who said Florida Prosecutor Angela Corey was "World respected" as she gave a speech, talking to the television audience as if they were all 7 years old.

Watching Corey walk out winking and nodding at the cameras and her media friends in the room as if she was at the Academy Awards was one of the most disgusting media circuses I've ever seen.

Corey, clearly giddy about the attention, is smiling ear to ear, during a news conference about some guy that was shot dead.

I said she is “well respected” in the legal community. Or at least that is what I meant to say. If I misspoke I do apologize. Also, she has a reputation for praying and being an unapologetic Christian. I have no personal opinion about that. I am more interested in her as a prosecutor. The judge has now seen the probable cause affidavit and agreed and found probable cause for the second degree murder charge. That tells me there is alot we do not know...because nothing we do would have risen to this charge. Nor surprising we don’t know, of course. Not saying that.
