I liked her use of the phrase “justice for Trayvon” or when she said she’d prayed with the Martins.

Not surprised by this. His cutting off contact with his lawyers didn’t help his case.

I commented in a different thread, yesterday I think, that Zimmerman had been saying everybody should wait until the evidence all came out and vindicated him - but that without charges there isn’t a mechanism for the evidence to all be made public.

The way to do that without making charges would be through a grand jury, which would look at the evidence to see if there is enough to make charges and bring Zimmerman to trial.

I don’t know why she didn’t do that.

In my head I know there has to be some kind of trial in order for Zimmerman to be vindicated - or found guilty, if it turns out there is evidence to refute what we’ve already seen and heard.

But in my heart this petrifies me because I have absolutely no confidence that the system even attempts to arrive at justice. As I understand it, a NJ judge just decided that Obama is at least 35 years old, at least 14 years a US resident, and is a natural born citizen, based on ABSOLUTELY NO EVIDENCE. Just like the GA judge decided on the basis of no evidence to prove eligibility and in spite of a bunch of evidence to disprove it. What we’re seeing is that evidence doesn’t matter. The system doesn’t care about evidence. And they are blatant about flipping us the bird if we bring up the issue of evidence.

The claim from Blacks is that they can’t trust the system either - that the fix is in on blacks. Could be they are thrilled that we have the sinking feeling in our guts that they say they’ve always had, knowing the people with the power to hear the evidence can use it for their own biased or political purposes and wipe out whatever evidence they want.

I think the place we need to get is where blacks and whites are both saying amongst each other and to others that the rules of evidence are a time-tested friend and protection for innocent people of all races when properly followed.

What seems unlikely is that Zimmerman confronted someone he’d lost.

Which makes me think that all of this "justice for Trayvon" talk from the prosecution is cynical anti-riot insurance.

Yes, that smarmy drivel was likely for the benefit of the howling mob.

It's difficult to believe she could possibly be serious.

If I pick a fight and try start losing I can kill the guy attacking me and get off scott free.

Short answer, yes. A friend of mine got jumped in a McDonald's parking lot. The guy jumped him from behind and held him from behind while pounding on him. My friend managed to get a handhold and push the guy backwards into a car. He then proceeded to slam the guy's head into the car about four more times. My friend got charged with assault. The cop (and ADA) told him that he could have gotten away with one head-slam... but after he continued to slam after he had gotten free HE became the aggressor.

Zimmerman could have run up to Martin, called him the N-word, spit in his face and then slapped him. But the moment Martin got on top of Zimmerman and started to bang his head on the pavement, Martin became the aggressor. Period. You don't like it, change the LAW. Open your doe eyes...

I disagree with your theory. Here’s my theory: Trayvon was casing the neighborhood, found a juicy target while wandering the development, then notices Zimmerman’s surveillance of him. Trayvon takes evasive action to break contact. Then Trayvon starts to brood and get upset, doubles back, sneaks up on Zimmerman and proceeds to take out his anger on Zimmerman.

.................................Second, the facts are, and will come out, that Trayvon attacked Zimmerman, I believe this. This fact alone will get Zimmerman off. TRAYVON COULD HAVE WALKED AWAY!..................

I think that is the first time have heard it put like that.

TRAYVON COULD HAVE WALKED AWAY!

Nice

Am surprised at the murder charge, though. I thought he would be charged with manslaughter.

Corey said the decision to bring charges was based on the facts and the law, declaring: "We do not prosecute by public pressure or by petition."

What a steaming pile

You don’t think he could have found him again? It is not a particularly complex maze that they were living in.

"It might be prudent to also carry a knife or sharpened screwdriver that doesn't match anything in your home/garage."

Heh, just like Trayvon did...

"Last year Martin was suspended for spraying graffiti on school grounds. The Miami Herald reported that the school guard who stopped him searched his backpack and found 12 items of women's jewelry and a flathead screwdriver that the guard believed to be a "burglary implement."

Would any black juror dare to find Zimmerman not guilty?

They have loads of evidence. A dead body, a gun, a guy who admits to shooting the previously alive dead body, physical evidence, witnesses and so on.

They also have a brewing race war and worldwide saturation of potential jurors.

The burden of proof is pretty high in Florida. Just ask Casey Anthony.

Case closed, done, everyone go home.

It’s clear that Trayvon wasn’t afraid of Zimmerman because Trayvon approached Zimmerman rather than simply going safely home.

Trayvon’s girlfriend said she heard Trayvon ask Zimmerman, “Why are you following me?”, followed by Z asking “What are you doing in this neighborhood?” That’s the same basic gist as what Zimmerman claimed.

If Zimmerman was out on a wild rampage with a gun just looking for a black guy to shoot, Trayvon would not have approached him with a question like that.

What’s your evidence that Zimmerman “made up the story that he was no longer following Trayvon to cover his ass”? How do you prove that Z was still following Trayvon? Was there audio or video of it?

Presenting the other side is fine, but if it’s just wild accusations with no evidence to back it up, it shows that the “other side” has nothing to stand on but their own bias or wishes.

And that doesn’t cut it, where justice is concerned.
