Strange they should mention profiling.

There is nothing illegal about profiling, even racial profiling.

Why would such a thing make it into the indictment?

Of course, he profiled him. If it was an elderly couple walking their doggie they would be profiled, too, and left alone. Profiling is an efficient way distinguish possible thugs/terrorists. Eff political correctness.

I believe private citizens are still allowed to “profile”; if not, someday soon it’ll be possible to arrest people who don’t want to date short people or fat people. After all, isn’t that just an example of profiling?

What’s wrong with profiling. I dont see any issue with profiling anyone. My sister dropped off some friends at LAX this morning, she was driving a Range Rover, security asked her to open all the doors so they could search inside, when she asked why they said that SUV’s can be used to carry explosives so they just wanted to check. Maybe someone should call Sharpton and ask him to represent my sister’s car, since it is black LOL

>> Why would such a thing make it into the indictment?

Because of the way 2nd degree murder is defined in FL law.

The prosecution needs to prove that Zimmerman acted with a “depraved mind”. If he didn’t then it’s not murder 2, it’s at most manslaughter.

This is the same reason the bitc... uh, excuse me, the prosecutrix claims he said “f****** punks” — a claim which is contradicted by all of the audio evidence, raw and enhanced.

But if she doesn’t throw things like this and that into the affidavit, a murder 2 charge is unsupportable.

Suppose someone blindfolded you and drove you to an unknown neighborhood late at night.

Would you feel slightly more fearful to discover to see you’ve been dropped off in a neighborhood of young black males?

Yep, Trayvon looked suspicious so George called the police. If that is profiling, so be it. People are profiled all the time.

It was too nasty out to know the race of the hooded person right away.

...and I HATE the headlines where they call George Zimmerman only by his last name, but the “little Skittles angel” is called by his full name.

But he called 911 because he spotted Trayvon. My point is that we all profile everyday in every encounter with a stranger. It is necessary for survival.

Yep. Keep in mind, regardless of what the race-whor... uh, excuse me, the prosecutrix CLAIMS in her stinkin’ affidavit, she still has to PROVE it in court. PROVE — not merely SUGGEST.

Even a mediocre public defender would find plenty to work with in Zimmerman’s defense.

And from what I hear, Zimmerman’s attorney is pretty good.

Many years ago when I was a 30 year old pretty little blond, I went on a Real Estate call to a bad (you guess) neighborhood in XXXXXXXXX NY. A cop actually stopped me and escorted me to and from the house.

Now, I just roll up my car windows when I drive through that same rotten, dirty, welfare neighborhood.

Zimmerman’s life is changed forever.

Will Spike Lee’s minions finally get the right address and shoot Zimmerman at home (if he makes bail)?

Will Trayvon’s family sue Zimmerman for everything he has or ever will earn under the theory that they win if they can trade in a loser-punk-kid destined for prison and get a big roll of cash?

Will Zimmerman win in both criminal and civil court and then make money on speaking fees or a book/movie?

Whatever happens, this will (sadly) be the center of his life forever.

Is this profiling?

Neighborhood Watch is undoubtedly one of the oldest and most well-known crime prevention programs in history. While the modern day concept of program rose to prominence in the late 1960s in response to an increasing burglary rate, the roots of Neighborhood Watch can actually be traced all the way back to the days of Colonial settlements, when night watchmen patrolled the streets. The modern version of the Neighborhood Watch-USAonWatch Program was developed as a result of the multiple requests from sheriffs and police chiefs around the country who were looking for a crime prevention program that would incorporate citizen involvement and address the increasing number of burglaries taking place, especially in rural and suburban areas. In 1972, the National Sheriffs’ Association (NSA) took the concept a step further by seeking funding to make the program a national initiative. Thanks to a grant from the Law Enforcement Assistance Administration, the National Neighborhood Watch Program was started.

For the first two years, the program was devoted primarily to disseminating information on the nature and volume of burglary and securing residential property and mking it less vulnerable to break-ins. From there, it evolved into a program that promoted the establishment of ongoing local neighborhood watch groups that encouraged citizens to partner with their law enforcement agencies in an effort to reduce various types of “neighborhood crime.”

Since its beginnings, Neighborhood Watch has grown from an “extra eyes and ears” approach to crime prevention to a much more proactive, community-oriented endeavor providing a unique infrastructure that brings together local officials, law enforcement, and citizens for the protection of their communities. Today’s Watch Group programs incorporate activities that not only address crime prevention issues, but also restore pride and unity to a neighborhood. It is not uncommon to see members of Neighborhood Watch groups participating in community cleanups and other activities that strive to improve the quality of life for community residents.

In addition, the adoption of community policing by local law enforcement agencies has contributed to a resurgence in Watch groups over the years. Neighborhood Watch fits nicely into the framework of law enforcement/community partnerships, and Neighborhood Watch meetings provide a useful forum for airing neighborhood problems and practicing problem-solving techniques.

Furthermore, Neighborhood Watch has become especially practical in our current society, in which two-income families are the norm and many neighborhoods are deserted during the day. While criminals have attempted to use this statistic to their advantage, law enforcement has uncovered an important reality: the communities in which citizens have observed and reported suspicious activity have enjoyed lower crime rates.

As communities throughout the country have adopted the program and reported success, the popularity of the Neighborhood Watch Program has grown, and it continues to still.

Zimmerman "profiled" Trayvon Martin.

So what? Show me the state or federal law or the constitutional provision that prohibits a private citizen from profiling. WE ALL PROFILE. It's human nature. And any person over the age of twelve who says they don't profile in at least some respect is a liar.

Zimmerman can also make weekly purchases from the commissary, from an account contributed to by people on his visitation list. So far, he's spent $79.84. He has $41.16 remaining.

Sounds like some kind-hearted freepers in the area need to see what needs to be done to get on his visitation list, let him know he's supported and add a little bit to his account. :)

They probably have to weight his personal safety before asking for a bond. He wouldn’t be allowed out of the state, and needs to be available to meet with his lawyer. Where could he go safely? For now, for better or worse, he’s probably safer in the county jail.

Zimmerman saw a kid wearing a huddie with pants around his ankles walking in a neighborhood where he was not known, with a spaced out kind of look. Doesn’t matter what his color is. The kid fit Zimmerman’s profile of possible trouble.

Criminals dislike Neighborhood Watches. The Dem lawyers will attempt to argue that the development as a whole (ie, the set of homeowners as a whole) is civilly liable for the torts of any Neighborhood Watch member.

I listened to the 9-11 tape released by the police & the affidavit does not accurately represent the events recorded on the tape.

Contrary to yhe statement o Trayvon’s mom, Trayvon’s father said it was not Trayvon calling for help.

The circus begins. God, may justice and the law prevail.

If there are strangers in our neighborhood they are damn right profiled—we don’t care if they are yellow, blue or green. If they are out of place, someone is going to find out what they are up to. Of course, that usually comes as a question like—are you lost or can I help you find a particular neighbor?—and just let me get close enough to jot down your tag number if they have a vehicle.

You seem to have missed all of the 5.8 million references to NBC apologizing for its shamefully misleading edit of the 911 call.

The fact is this: Zimmerman never mentioned race until the 911 operator asked, "OK, and this guy — is he black, white or Hispanic?" Zimmerman replied, "He looks black."
