Body found in Salem was fetus, not infant, autopsy reveals

SALEM -- Remains found in a Salem yard have been identified as those of a fetus, not an infant as deputies initially thought, police said.

An autopsy revealed the body found in the 4700 block of Carolina Avenue NE Wednesday night was that of a 24 to 25-week-old fetus, the medical examiner's office said Friday.

After the story was reported Thursday, detectives received calls and tips that helped them find the mother, according to Don Thomson of the Marion County Sheriff's Office.

The mother told investigators she had suffered a miscarriage on the morning of April 11.

"At this time, this investigation is being categorized as a medical incident," Thomson said. "Consistent with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, the identity of the mother will not be released."

Results of the autopsy and the investigation will be sent to the district attorney's office for review.

This "fetus" was being called a "baby" in the media when the remains were found by the family dog. Dear God, help us, how much sicker can this society get.

THAT is a distinction without a difference.

How much longer can we last as a nation with this horror going on everywhere? This country has turned its back on God - how much longer is He going to put up with it?

If she had a miscarriage why didn’t she call 911 for help?

So a trip down the birth canal where the little guy or girl remains alive for a while = infant...and a trip down the birth canal where his or her life is interrupted limb by limb ripped-apart = doesn't = a baby?

This culture is more fourth-world & superstitious than I thought. Presto! Magical! You now have personhood conferred upon you by the media!!!

And what are these media sources conveying to parents of miscarried babies?

That nobody -- no baby -- was really there?

THAT is a distinction without a difference.

Oh, yeah, don'tcha know!   It's a fetus before it's born and an infant after it's born.   What's that you say?   The mother wasn't still carrying this fetus?   Oh, then it was a violent C-section that wasn't a vaginal birth?   *OH!*

Is someone trying to tell us that we're supposed to shift our language to call premature birth infants "fetuses" now?   AAAAAEE!   I don't think so!

What an ignorant headline. It is like Body found a human, not a person

There is a judgement to come and the wrath of God will be well justified.

“Remains .......... have been identified as those of a fetus, not an infant as deputies initially thought, police said. “

WAIT! a fetus is just tissue, RIGHT? How could they mistake “tissue” for an INFANT! Are they blind? I mean, those “things” they abort are just “blobs” of tissue, right? I'm confused. Does the doctor pull out the “tissue” and exclaim... OMG IT'S A BABY! Sadly, no. They just pull off the little arms and legs and sell the more important parts. Then they throw the rest into the yard for the dog!

(Ok, the dog reference was for effect and to connect with the article, BUT aborted babies have, in at least one case, been just thrown up on the roof, to discard them. No dogs, just birds and rodents.

Making you sick? Good. Now, DO SOMETHING TO STOP ABORTION.

Before 20 weeks = miscarriage
20 wks and after = stillborn

Risk for complications in cases of “fetal demise” goes up significantly after 12 weeks gestation.

I believe "fetus" is Latin for "child".

In English, the Left plays all kinds of games. In Latin, they would be having a harder time -- "The child was found to be not a child at all, but rather a child." ... Nah, that just doesn't work at all.

Notice, too, that the "mother's" identity is protected by HIPAA laws, even though she just threw the dead baby into the neighbor's backyard to be dragged by the family dog.

Oh - maybe it was "post-partum depression", and she didn't know what she was doing :-(

Stupid deputies, can't they tell a fetus from an infant?

"detectives received calls and tips that helped them find the mother, "

If they are looking for a 'mother' there must have been a baby.

These are the sins of our culture that will lead to the destruction of America, at the hands of an Obama 2nd term.
We have abused our liberty and now will lose it.

What’s the difference between a fetus and a baby? Answer is there isn’t one.

The article says she had a miscarriage - not an abortion.
My daughter is pregnant and subscribed me to a weekly update on growth progress. 24 weeks says: [sic] “just over a pound and almost a foot long (picture an ear of corn)”

What do you do if you have a miscarriage at home? Apparently, she buried the “fetus” and did not do a great job of it. Do you put the body in the garbage, wrap it and take it to your doctor, to a hospital or police station? Not clear on the protocol.

If you continued to bleed, I would guess you would need a D&C to repair your uterus lining, but if you didn’t need one, you might not go to the hospital.

I think, because of their advocacy, folks are jumping to conclusions not evident in the article.
