Can Newt Gingrich keep his sputtering campaign alive?
csmonitor.com ^ | April 14 2012 | By Brad Knickerbocker

Newt Gingrich, former House Speaker and a major Washington figure for decades, has been pushed to the fringes of presidential campaign discourse.

Although he’s still formally a candidate for the GOP’s 2012 nomination, he describes Mitt Romney as "far and away the most likely" GOP nominee – a fact made all-but-certain by Rick Santorum’s dropping out this week. Mr. Santorum had been Romney’s last remaining serious challenger.

With $4.5 million in debt, the Gingrich campaign organization has been operating on a shoestring as his principal financial angel, billionaire casino owner Sheldon Adelson, began moving toward the Romney campaign.

“It appears as though he’s at the end of his line,” Adelson said recently. “Because, I mean, mathematically, he can’t get anywhere near the numbers, and it’s unlikely to be a brokered convention.”

Who are these RNC insiders I keep hearing about that have so much power over us, and HOW DO WE GET THEM OUT OF THERE?

I am SICK to death of hearing about how the RNC is messing around with us. What do we do about it? How do we neutralize these people?

Are we completely at their mercy? I’m not talking about leaving the party, I’m talking about CLEANING HOUSE! How? If we formed another party it would just get infiltrated the same way if we don’t figure out how to get rid of these scoundrels!

Who are the RNC elite insiders? If you have ever given a substantial donation to a GOP federal officeholder, then you can get invited to events where you will meet other influential GOP insiders and donors.

Most everyone of them have the attitude of “what’s in it for me?” rather than “what’s good for people?”

So the problem is DC culture, the District of Columbia has become the District of Corruption.

The answer to cutting down this rampant corruption to random isolated cases is Newt Gingrich. But the elite insiders fought and are still fighting his attempt at winning the nomination.

How do we get them out of there?
1. Stop democrats from registering as republican for the GOP primaries.
2. Wait for TV to die as it is used for negative advertising to smear and destroy good candidates.Television is on its deathbed as internet is used more often for entertainment and news.
3. Continue using the internet to provide conservative views.
4. Promote and back the local Tea Party.
5. Cut spending in DC. This will remove a lot of incentive to hang around there.

1. Stop democrats from registering as republican for the GOP primaries.
How do we do this? Would this be decided by the state Repub party leaders? Do they have the same agenda as the DC insiders? If so how do we get closed primaries passed if the state level GOP insiders don’t want it either?

Also, what I was asking is, who are the RNC and how do they get to that position? Here’s what I found online http://www.gop.com/index.php/issues/leadership/
Chairman Reince Priebus
Reince Priebus was elected Chairman of the Republican National Committee on January 14, 2011. In his first year as Chairman, Reince oversaw a dramatic turnaround of the RNC, building it into a strong and effective organization for electing Republicans in 2012.

Under Reince’s leadership, the RNC raised more major donor money in an off year than in the history of the RNC. At the same time, the RNC has broken new ground, deploying new communication strategies and innovative technology for voter outreach.

Reince is committed to uniting the Republican Party to reach our common goal – electing Republicans. With sound fiscal stewardship, a dedication to conservative principles, and a message of freedom and prosperity, Reince continues to lead the party toward victory in 2012.

So, they are elected, but by who? And is it basically this small group of people at the top, Reince Prebius,
his Co-Chair, and the other RNC leadership who are setting the direction of the entire Republican party? Reince Prebius was from Wisconsin and helped Scott Walker, so it seems he does back good conservatives sometime - so why are they pushing Romney so hard?

I guess I’m thinking of it kind of like the board of a corporation or non profit. The senators and congressmen are kind of like the paid staff, but the RNC would be similar to the board of directors who set direction and in a general strategic way decide where the money will be spent so they set the philosophical direction of the party.
They definitely have completely thrown the old Republican party platform of the Reagan years overboard it seems. On the RNC website it is all pretty vague but no mention of any social issues such as pro-life at all.

.... So how do you get on the on the “Board of Directors” of the Republican party? How can we, regular everyday people in the middle class have any effect on this at all?

Do we just need to find some huge money donors who are actually conservative with Judeo/Christian values who would jump in and start helping change direction? I hate for it to all boil down to money but it seems the Marxists/Fascists have bought off the Democrats and now are doing a pretty good job with the Republican party too.

I think it’s time for a hostile takeover of this “corporation”! We need to figure out how to do it legally, morally and righteously but with courage and boldness. Or.. as some have suggested, a third party - but that does seem a really long shot...

sigh...
Sorry this is so long, I’m just really frustrated and puzzled by this whole process, and just wonder how America got itself tangled up like this. We seem to be at the mercy of a few elite big money insiders at the top, and a huge crowd of uneducated/unthoughtful voters at the bottom. We can’t get the voters educated in the constitution without breaking them out of the public schools, we can’t get school choice enacted without getting conservatives elected, which we have a hard time doing becuase the voters are ignorant and the RNC leadership really doesn’t care.....
arg... I need to remember Matthew 19:36

I always remember to tell myself and others “If you believe in God, then don’t worry”.

“Do we just need to find some huge money donors ...... I hate for it to all boil down to money ....”

War is Hell and unfortunately it often does boil down to money. But you have the right spirit, ***money*** is not evil, it is the ***love of money*** that is the root of all evil.

So look at money as that which you need to raise in order to defeat those that love it. It is a tool, a means, a process.

But it isn’t completely necessary. What is necessary is to pray for opportunities to turn the enemy against themselves as they are doing to us by having Romney divide the conservative base. That does not mean we get behind Romney, it means we become aware that the RNC insiders are in league with the DNC.

Here is a wonderful essay written during the Summer between the passage of Obamacare and the emergence of the Tea Party. It is worth reading every word of it because it will make it crystal clear what we are up against.

http://spectator.org/archives/2010/07/16/americas-ruling-class-and-the/print

Read every word, and have each age appropriate member of your family, your friends, your neighbors, have them all read this or offer to recite it for them. Record it on a CD and have everyone you know listen to it as they are riding a bus or driving a car.

The more important question is that once we are aware of what we face, what do we do about it?

Pray, Pray, Pray

“...I think it’s time for a hostile takeover of this “corporation”! We need to figure out how to do it legally, morally and righteously but with courage and boldness. Or.. as some have suggested, a third party - but that does seem a really long shot.....”

We don’t need a third party. We need a second party. The Ruling Class has taken our party away from us or they are trying to. You are more on track with the sentiment of a Hostile Takeover. And your ideas are good about finding who elects the RNC leadership. But to do that we need an understanding of how they control power, and unfortunately it’s about money and the knowledge of who has it and how to get it.

Meg Whitman was about money.

Carly Fiorina was about money.

But don’t despair. The real threat perceived by the Ruling Class concerning the Tea Party was that it comprised perhaps 50 million to 70 million people at one time, a huge swath of the voters. If each of these people loosely identified with the Tea Party would give an average $5 to the cause of placing conservatives in the RNC and GOP leadership, that would result in hundreds of millions of dollars which could be spent on Beltway PR firms to establish a positive brand for the Tea Party. It could also be used to launch negative ads against liars and phoneys such as Romney.

But once the money was raised and the right people were paid (unless they are personally wealthy and don’t need to paid), we have to resolve to hold onto power and become the GOP establishment but with conservative values and principles.

Because the Ruling Class wants to hold onto power and they think it is a question of money. We on the other hand want to return to our lives and could care less about federal power unless it affected us again. But we can’t just return to life as usual so we have to leave paid people behind that will maintain the values and principles. And if we do not pay these people they will languish and sell out to whoever will keep their paychecks coming which is what has happened.

Divine Intervention

Here are a couple of wild cards that could happen with God’s intervention:

1. Newt Gingrich
Newt can still make it to the convention floor by denying Romney the requisite votes to sew up the nomination. If Newt can make it to a brokered convention, then he has a chance to debate the Liar Romney and with a lot of free press that will certainly exist at the convention Newt will have a shot at convincing the delegates that he is the face of the GOP.

2. Sheriff Arpaio
The Arizona investigation of fraud and forgery by Obama is not finished and the prosecution has just started. If it will be that Sheriff Arpaio’s office can obtain a grand jury indictment of Obama or persons under him, then this could be a game changer but unfortunately it could play into Romney’s favor and Romney is no better than Obama, in fact he can be thought of as Obama (R).

So the two things above seem like long shots because we are conditioned to think so but if both occur by divine intervention, then we have a chance of getting a conservative to be POTUS.

I live in Missouri.

Missouri's nonbinding primary and county caucuses have already been held. The congressional district convention will be this Saturday. Those meetings, combined with the upcoming state convention, will select the actual National Convention delegates.

Many problematic things happened in this process. In St. Charles County, the whole caucus was shut down with police being called to keep order. In my own county, which voted overwhelmingly in our nonbinding primary for Santorum, due to a split in the Santorum supporters between party leaders (who in our county were mostly Santorum people) and more radical Santorum supporters associated with a local “tea party” group who were perceived as being overly friendly to Ron Paul supporters, a slate of delegates to the district convention which included a mix of supporters of several candidates including Ron Paul was defeated in favor of a slate which had a majority of Romney supporters and the rest mostly moderate Santorum supporters or uncommitted people.

We had only one person of any prominence stand up and support Newt Gingrich — a local optometrist who is a city council member. Most of the rest of the Republican leadership was supporting Santorum with a few people being Romney supporters — and remember that the vote in our nonbinding primary was overwhelmingly for Santorum. However, due to what's happened since the primary and county caucus, I strongly suspect that our delegates on Saturday will end casting mostly Romney votes.

I'm doing a lot privately and quietly in our county, but frankly, it's not helping very much. This is not Gingrich-bashing — I've made clear for months that I'm willing to back Gingrich as a second choice and am trying to convince people to support him now that Santorum supporters have dropped out — but the simple fact of the matter is that Gingrich's past moral issues are a huge problem for the people I'm talking with. Also I'm having a huge amount of trouble convincing people that Mitt Romney, now that he's gotten the Right-to-Life and anti-gay-marriage endorsements, is not pro-life and anti-gay-marriage. These are people who have known me for years and respect my views, but the consistent comment is along the line of this: “Darrell, I know you follow politics closely, but how could Romney get those endorsements if he weren't pro-life and anti-gay-marriage?”

We can talk a lot on the internet with “preaching to the choir,” but for those people who live in Missouri, Iowa, or other states with delegates who are still up-in-the-air, it's **REALLY** important to contact the delegates and do one-on-one persuasion. A phone call or a sit-down meeting for coffee with a delegate, especially if that delegate knows you personally, can do more good than a thousand posts on a website where most of us already agree that Romney is a RINO.

I haven't heard how the event was, but do hope many got to attend!

Here are to appearances by Newt that truly show anyone who will listen that Newt IS the only true Conservative standing in our Republican Primary!

How any Conservative could vote for Mitt Romney over Newt is beyond my understanding! Vote Newt, NOT the chosen Washington/New York GOP Elite Liberal Conservative!

Thank you so much for that thoughtful and reasoned reply. I learned something - which is what I come to Free Republic for but don’t always find. Lots of funny or snarky one liners but not always long thought out responses.

I hope to have time to read the article at the link later today. Hope to have more conversations on this subject. Be sure to ping me to any other articles of interest.

I found this...sorry it’s CBS and what they took from the Richardson townhall was the part when he “bashed” the media.

I don’t know anyone who went, and there was no way on earth I could have gone.

A couple web pages that give facts about Romneycare’s abortion mandate:

http://bostoncatholicinsider.wordpress.com/2012/02/23/did-romney-lie-about-cardinal-omalley-to-the-nation-during-the-wednesday-debate/

http://bostoncatholicinsider.wordpress.com/2012/02/26/fact-check-followup-regulations-prove-romney-wrong-on-emergency-contraception/

The “pro-life” groups are ignoring the facts.
