FR Exclusive: Convicted Sex Offender Headlines Obama Campaign Event Emceed by Manager Jim Messina

Obama reelection campaign manager Jim Messina emceed an event for Obama campaign volunteers Sunday night that was headlined by a rock singer convicted of sexual battery on a college student in 1990.

The popular rock group The Red Hot Chili Peppers played a concert at the House of Blues in Cleveland last night for about 1200 Obama for America supporters who volunteered time at Obama phone banks. From the Cleveland Plain Dealer:

...On Sunday, the Cleveland Heights woman joined 1,200 Obama volunteers at the House of Blues to hear the band play a 45-minute set that included its anthem, "Under the Bridge," and "The Adventures of Rain Dance Maggie." The Chili Peppers had approached the campaign about helping the president's re-election bid while they were in Cleveland.

The free show came just hours after the Los Angeles band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

The show mixed the band's caffeinated struts and funk-rooted songs with Obama's campaign themes. It underscored the impact of a heavy-hitting band like the Chili Peppers has on getting the political message out.

The Obama campaign had announced last week that volunteers who signed on to help with a phone bank would get free concert tickets. Most of the Obama volunteers at the show have worked with the campaign for years, staffers and volunteers said. The phone bank last week contacted about 39,000 people, campaign staffers said.

"I was going to volunteer, and they said that I could get tickets to see the Red Hot Chili Peppers, so I said, 'What the heck?"' Cowell said. "I've never seen the Red Hot Chili Peppers. I've heard of them, but I never heard them."

She may have been alone Sunday.

The crowd stood and sang with Kiedis and bandmates Michael "Flea" Balzary (bass), Chad Smith (drums) and Josh Klinghoffer (guitar). The band, formed in the early 1980s, rode the alt-rock revolution to stardom. At every turn, the crowd chanted song lyrics and shrieked the members' names.

Jim Messina, the national campaign manager for Obama, introduced the band, saying the members appeared "because they care about their country."

Red Hot Chili Peppers lead singer Anthony Kiedis was convicted in 1990 of sexual battery and indecent exposure against a female George Mason University college student who was working backstage at the Chili Peppers' concert on April 21, 1989 at the Patriot Center in Fairfax County, Virginia.

According to the victim, Kiedis exposed his penis and tried to force her to perform oral sex on him against her will.

The Los Angeles Times reported on Kiedis' 1990 conviction.

Four years later, in 1994, the Clinton administration dropped Kiedis as a spokesman for a campaign to promote condom use produced by the Centers for Disease Control, according to the New York Times.

The Obama campaign recently became embroiled in their own 'war on women' campaign tactic when Democrat advisor and former record industry lobbyist Hilary Rosen attacked Ann Romney, saying of the wife of Republican party presidential front runner Mitt Romney, that she has "never worked a day in her life.

In 2008, the Obama campaign forced the campaign of Republican presidential opponent Sen. John McCain to cancel a fundraiser with Texan Clayton Williams over Williams' remark from 1990 comparing the weather to rape. Williams was quoted as saying, “As long as it’s inevitable, you might as well lie back and enjoy it.”

So his campaign is going to be pimping free concerts to get photographs of crowds at Obama rallies again this time around too?

Is he going to campaign in Germany and the other 57 states again?

Obama lives in hell. THe worms are coming out of his nostrils and eyes and are claiming the presidency themselves, much the way he came out as a worm from the eyes of the RINOs like McCain.

Muslims LOVE sexual perversion. Why would it be a surprise that he headlined for his dear “leader” hussein?

You wouldn’t be joking if the victim was your daughter. She was not a groupie. She was a student working the show for the university.

She was not a "groupie". She was tasked by the school to assist with logistics. I remember this.

I’d be careful on this one. Looks like George Mason university, in DC,, and the innocent female student was in their dressing room after the show as she said, to offer to drive their bus back to the hotel. (cause buses never come with drivers)
He was undressed in his dressing room, where she entered, and he being a rock star, made a lewd joke, asking if she was sent there to give him a Monica. She makes a complaint the next day.
He plead out to a few misdemeanor charges.

This could very easily be another humorless radfem east coast type like Kagan, Fluck, etc ad nauseum. It’s more than enough to dislike this guy because he supports Obama. We are way past the era where the word of coeds in universities should be trusted. (especially at universities within a few hundred miles of DC) In fact,,, you are more likely to meet the radfem type there than normal.

It was worse than you describe. And no, the victim was not a “humorless radfem east coast type like Kagan, Fluck, etc ad nauseum.” Even if she was, it wouldn’t change the facts nor the conviction.

IIRC, he slapped her in the face with the body part - did not simply make a request.

He still denies that what she said was true. Why should i believe her word above his? A lot of the accusers at Tailhook were/are believed. And they were full participants,, to the point of drinking drinks by sucking them out of a phallus shaped container.

It takes more than an acccusation. Men, including rockstars, are totally defenseless against anything a female says. There are a million reasons that women lie about this kind of thing. Attention, to make a boyfriend jealous, to extort money, because they werent ready for a Mid-term the next day and needed an excuse, and just plain crazy,,etc etc.

Im just saying she accuses/he denies,, no injury, no proof, and no defense was possible except to deny it. And she was in HIS dressing room,, why? Please spare me the indignation,,, since at least 1965 women know exactly what going into the dressing alone room means.
Last,,, there is a striking absence of other women claiming similar behaviors. He gets the benefit of the doubt here against a secret accuser. But i’ll reserve the right to think he’s stupid for supporting Obama.

Besides,,,if the goal is to discredit Obama you’ll need to do better than to tar him with the RHCP association. Thats like if Santana plays for him, having some breaking news worls headline “Obama associated with pot smoker!”

After all, Merle Haggard played for Reagan,,, We are on extremely thin ice if we insist thast every musician associated with campaign events have decades of purity and chastity. The worry is that all kids generally like the RHCP, a LOT. And we get nowhere with such silliness,, except to give college kids a reason to roll their eyes at how retarded we sound being all freaked out about it.

“IIRC, he slapped her in the face with the body part - did not simply make a request.”

BS,, and i keep hearing little inuendos, but why not give us the whole who, what, where, how, and when? Including who she is? IIRC, she was alone in the dressing room with him. So why? What EXACTLY was her task that required her to be in there? Who was she working for? Did they confirm they they sent her there do do task “X”? Was she professional? Did she knock,,, wait for an answer,,and say “i’m here to for “X”?
This just sounds like baloney,,,

There is something shady about this. And how was her face THAT close? Did he grab her? Where? Who saw her right after,, later that night? Did they go out for beer and wings as she laughed the night away?
Without some serious proof,, it just sounds like more of the last 2 decades of feminazi shenannigans. Flame away,, cause thats what i see.

women know exactly what going into the dressing alone room means.

Not the dressing room, and there was a witness:
"The plaintiff claims in the Motion for Judgment that after the April 21st concert, as part of her duties as a member of the Program Board, she waited in the hallway of the Student Union Building opposite the room to which the band members were taken after their performance. While she and another female member of the Program Board sat waiting outside the room, Kiedas, Fruscianti, Smith, and Balzary came out of the room and approached them in the hallway. At that time, Kiedas asked if they "were the [*372] women sent to suck our ****s+" Fruscianti and Smith stood on either side, and Balzary stood behind Kiedas. When the two women protested, Kiedas approached the plaintiff as the other woman moved away. Kiedas then pulled down his pants and thrust his ***** into the plaintiff's face, poking her in the cheek." LINK

What was the backstage task she was doing after the show, alone, with the singer? Don’t be naive. At worst,, he probably hit on her.
