MK Tibi in Canada: Boycott Products from 'Settlements'
Arutz Sheva ^ | 18/4/12 | Elad Benari

Arab MK Ahmed Tibi, notorious for making statements against Israel while he serves in its parliament, has called for a boycott of products manufactured in Judea, Samaria, and east Jerusalem.

Tibi made the controversial comments during a visit in Ottawa, Canada, on Monday. According to a report in The Montreal Gazette, Tibi also said he was aware that his remarks were a direct violation of the boycott law approved by the Knesset last July, though he seemed unfazed by that fact.

“I said that I am willing to test this immoral law trying to prevent me, as a member of the parliament, from expressing my views against the settlements in a peaceful way,” The Montreal Gazette quoted Tibi as having said during his visit to Ottawa. “This is the first time that someone is calling and demanding abroad.”

The boycott bill prevents companies from participating in government bids if they take part in a boycott of a business in Israel. It stipulates that anyone calling for an economic, cultural or academic boycott against the Jewish communities in Judea and Samaria will be unable to participate in government tenders. In addition, any person who considers himself a victim of a boycott could sue the boycotter for compensation.

I’m boycotting the Ghaza Hilton, or whatever they call their three-star hotel there. The food’s not kosher and the room service sucks, not to mention the homicidal maniacs nearby that keep firing missiles at Be’er Sheva. No way will I ever spend a night there.

Eleutheria,
Do you know of any lists or stores where Israeli products are made? I try to purchase from Israel where I can. Thanks in advance.

I used to work in a kosher deli at Winn Dixie in Tamarac, FL. They had a lot of Israeli products. If you’re in NYC, of course, there’s plenty. Also Albertson and Publix usually had a lot in FL, although I think Albertson’s pulled out of FL. Don’t know about the other 48.

Very good question. If we’re going to have a girlcott, best to do it right. Those videos of the dancing BDS weenies I posted in 1 should give some indication where to start. Maybe the best thing is to find the stores they did their little dance in and make a point of buying there, give the managers an incentive to brave the storm-dancer sonderkommandos and keep stocking the merchandise. I’ll look into it further.

I know Trader Joe’s carries some Israeli-made products out here in California. As does Safeway.

Tribe has a store locator on its About Tribe tab. Sabra on the home page. I think we ought to tell them about the girlcott, and maybe make a button or ribbon or something for supporters of the girlcott to identify themselves by. That way, we can make sure the managers and clerks all know that there’s a girlcott, and that these dips@#$$ts, far from scaring off business as they had hoped, are generating more sales of Sabra and Tribe. This might be fun.
