This is really a shame. I hope you’ll come back after the pandemonium has ebbed. Your perspective, at the end of all this, will be very interesting.

I’m with Mr. Robinson, though. He’s been clear as a bell about supporting Mittens here. Mitt is a lying, elitist RINO and this site shouldn’t ever degrade itself to allow support for him. There’s no other place like this one - you know that or else you wouldn’t have spent all those years posting here.

We all make mistakes and post things we wish we hadn’t. Hell, I’m surprised I haven’t been booted just to raise the overall IQ of the place. I wish I could make comments half as intelligent as the rest of the people here.

Take a break. Think about what this place really is. Think about how there must be one place like this one. If there isn’t, we’re all screwed.

Romney’s got six months to earn whatever conservative support he can.

Most significantly, he can fundraise for and support Tea Party/conservative candidates for the House (and for the Senate... if there are any).

The ‘anybody but Obama’ meme is very premature.

There are other sites that you can post your pro Mittens views at. This is a CONSERVATIVE website not a (R) worship site. The GOP has never CUT one darn gov’t program. It's all hot air. The GOP is PURELY Liberal. So I just laugh at those who spout the purity nonsense when their candidate is purely a Liberal ala Mittens. They have no Conservative principles and are pure BS Liberals.

Too bad for the political/regulator class, dependent on government for their incomes and service customers. We’ll get this thing over with and show you some real producers on the other side of the default process.

No vote for the other socialist.

I’m still praying that Newt pulls off a miracle.

Barring that, I’m stunned that so many FReepers can’t see the dire direction of this country under another 4 years of the Omarxist. Encouraging people not to get out and vote against the One is dangerous, IMO.

Mitt is at least better than unadulterated communism and an all out race war.

Things don’t change when people walk away. Especially since most people don’t want anything to change to begin with, and are happy the irritants are leaving.

Lots of people walking away though. Seems premature to me — Gingrich isn’t out of the race yet. No point in falling on a sword before there is no choice.

To: Jim Robinson; Lazamataz; All

Jim, when Laz called you a leader, he was being very accurate.

Sometimes, the truth just has to be verbalized.

You are a leader, because you refuse to compromise your principles.

The recent intensity around here concerning Romney was an excellent illustration of this fact.

With Santorum dropping out, and Newt being so low in the polls, and all the calls coming from the GOP-E to “get behind the leader”, you alone said “Not me!”.

You stood in one place and would not be moved.

Your defense of your position made me reassess just how little of a Republican and a conservative Romney really is compared to the hype about him.

It made me decide that while there is still one conservative standing, I would get behind that man and support him until that man was out of the race. I did not have to be forced into the false decision of Romney or Obama.

There was another option, and overlooked. I would support Newt until he threw in the towel. Newt was not my first choice, but the other choices were culled out of the race.

At least Newt stood for conservative principles.

It was shocking to see how little Romney really stood for. Since I never supported him, I did not look too deeply into his positions.

But you Jim were immovable on the subject of abortion. When I studied the history of Romney’s positions on abortion, it made me angry, because I had been a part of the pro-life movement for well over 25 years.

I respect your stand, and admire your steadfastness.

It inspired me not to grow weary, but instead to renew the battle.

My late mother used to tell me “To thine own self, be true.”

For if we cannot be true to ourselves, then we cannot be true to anyone else.

The fight is not over. We are not puppets of the Republican Party.

We are realizing that the Party is leaving us. And they are free to go.

We stand on our principles and can stand in no other place.

The winds of change blow as they will, but a leader knows himself and raises a flag for others to guide upon.

Thank you for being a leader, Jim. It is a such a rarity today.

And Laz, I cannot tell you how refreshing it is to see your compassion and clarity on this thread. I always knew you were above average in intelligence due to the high level of humor in your posts, but after this thread there can be no doubt.

One last thing—this thread has a lot of long time Freepers who I deeply respect. It is good to see your names. Gideon did not need a vast army to defeat an oversized enemy. The quality of you longtime Freepers make us a Gideon-type army fighting for the best values of America and for our families. You really are great Americans.

This isn’t the first time we’ve gone through this kind of gut wrenching agony here.

I understand what you’re saying, but it really turns my stomach to contemplate voting for a liar and fool like Romney. Then I think of the consequences of not doing it, and they are undeniably far worse.

Its partly about pride; its tough to swallow. I truly cherish all that Jim has done here over the last 15 years, and I prefer to believe that he will grow through this as he has through other similar crises in the past, and I’ll hang on for that for a while.

I hope you will also.

Six or seven liberals on the Supreme Court? Maybe atomic destruction down the pike after our disarmament. Israel destroyed. 2nd Amendment neutered. Obamacare used to deny people medical care based on age and political beliefs. Racial strife. A welfare socialist state. US attorneys going after republicans.

That'll just be for starters.

Bishop Mittens might even win without our votes. What can we expect? None of the things that Newt promised to do on the first day, that’s for sure. I think we can expect in such case a third Bushie or something similar. The man is a nothing, another empty suit. You know very well that he won’t do to the Federal Government what he did to countless private corporations that Bains took over. Bishop likes to get along, like a Mormon missionary that he is. I say, keep his feet to the fire, is the best we can hope for.

BTW, I bet “Williams” in 2008 made the same arguments on why he HAD to support the weakest candidate, McCain.

Anyone with an IQ over 50 knows without Palin he’d have got about 38% of the vote.

I’m no longer being bullyed by the moderate RINO’s who keep putting up useful idiots that give us Dem-lite just to score a “win”. I started voting FOR someone in 1980 and I’m not stopping now.

Mitt Romney has yet to give me ONE reason to vote FOR him. NOT ONE! And a negative (I’m better than the other guy) doesn’t count.
