IDF chief dismisses officer who hit Danish activist with rifle

IDF Lt. Col. Shaul Eisner, who was filmed over the weekend hitting a Danish protester with his rifle butt in the Jordan Valley, was dismissed from his position on Wednesday.

IDF Chief of Staff Benny Gantz decided to dismiss Eisner, after the recommendations of GOC Central Command Nitzan Alon and Sami Turgeman, commander of the Israel Defense Forces' ground forces, on the grounds that the attack was a "moral failure."

Gantz said that an investigation into the incident revealed operational failures in the preparation of IDF soldiers for the protest bike ride in which the activist took part as well as in the soldiers' handling of the confrontation that erupted.

Eisner, who was due to receive the rank of colonel, will be transferred to a senior staff position and will be barred from carrying out any command position in the IDF in the next two years. Starting 2014, Einser will be able to return to a command position, should he fulfill the necessary requirements.

After his dismissal, Eisner told his associates that all he wants is several days of quiet. "I just want to rest from this entire affair," Eisner said.

"What is important for him is that the affair is over. It is the IDF chief's decision, and now there is a decision," one of Eisner's associates told Haaretz.

The is such BS. The anti-Semitic, Leftist ISM thugs (remember Rachel Corrie?) deserve to be taken to task in such a manner as this excellent example. After a good beating kick their heinies out of Israel.

The butt of an M-16 will leave a a bruise. The butt of an M1-Garand will leave a bruise, a severe laceration and if correctly used will break the jaw.

If I can be so bold as to make a suggestion the IDF, stop this political correct Bull Sh--, give Eisner his rank and position back and for gods sake, give him a M1-Grarad/

If the sources are correct, the officer had been struck on his hand with a stick.

Said blow broke bones in the officer's hand.

The protester was hit by the officer after the protester hit the officer.

This sounds (assuming the reports to be factual) like a typical, politically motivated, example of Israeli analingual obeisance to the Palisimians.

The Left twists, distorts and blows out of proportion anything they can use to make the politically conservative Americans and/or religious Jews look bad.

Zimmerman protected himself against the attack of Martin. And this officer did the same against the Palie.

He barely touched him.

Bull. He smacked the guy with a rifle full in the face without cause.

The video was shown worldwide harming the reputation of the IDF.

Israel cannot afford such indiscipline.

That is not what the video showed.

Look at the video. This is at worst a love tap. Don't know about the broken hand, I'd like to. But no one wields a rifle like that. Other than perhaps to push someone back.

Nonsense.

If I was Prime Minister of Israel I'd refuse entrance to all foreign ISM types.

But once they are there you can't have the IDF walking up to unarmed, unresisting foreigners and smashing them in the face.

It makes the IDF look crazy and evil.

The video is here. This is at worst a love tap. I'm thinking the greatest necessity is remedial bayonet training for the LtCol. Maybe a slap on the wrist. Since they're essentially doing crown control, mace might be useful. Here in the US you'd get tasered for this. Not a tap in the face. I would like to know more about the broken hand.

You talk crap.

The IDF officer was not being attacked and the guy he hit was Danish, not Pali.

International Solidarity Movement gives attaboy and pat on back to anarchist for smacking Eisner’s hand with a stick and breaking his fingers.

I don’t think one should buy a gun with the intention of using the non-business end of it. An M-16 shoots more bullets. If you want to break someone’s teeth only, a small joint of bamboo is easier to conceal and later dispose of, and doesn’t even show up on camera if you’re fast enough. The Japanese call it a kashi-no-bo, and it’s devastating. Best of all, it doesn’t even show up on metal detectors.
