We can do lots of things, but I’m pretty confident that we’ll make it through this Marxist induced downturn in the economy eventually and all boats will rise with the tide including ours. We’re going to continue plunging ahead, tighten our belts, raise the funds, beg, borrow or steal (metaphorically speaking), install some new equipment, make improvements when and where we can and continue fighting the good fight, unencumbered and unbeholden to anyone but our like-minded loyal participants and supporters.

In other words, damn the torpedoes, full steam ahead!!

Thank you very much!!

I have wondered why a conservative site like Free Republic has what is in essence a PBS model of holding fund drives to pay for it’s operational budget while Democratic Underground draws a significant portion of it’s budget from a very capitalistic model of having ad revenue.

It really is past time to make a change that would provide Free Republic with a more predictable monetary stream. Other conservative forums have a model that includes advertising. It need not be anymore imposing than the current FReepathon posts on the top and in the thread pages.

............install some new equipment, make improvements................

JimRob:

As the cost of maintaining this active website on your servers has escalated geometrically, have you and John looked at keeping only active threads on in-house equipment, and offloading the millions of inactive threads off to some cloud servers?

We can all wait for the few seconds delay in accessing cloud backup, and I would believe that the capital costs of storage could be dramatically reduced.

Just a thought - I guess I need to send another check!
