Keith Olbermann: Dog-Gate Exponentially Raises ‘Absurdity’ of Campaign
ABC News ^ | Apr 22, 2012 | George Stephanopoulos

After a week of dog-eat-dog politicking between President Obama and Mitt Romney’s respective campaigns, Keith Olbermann said today that the “dog-gate” controversies have gotten out of hand.

Politicos, pundits and the presidential-campaign watching public spent the past week pondering which is worse, a presidential candidate who put his dog in a kennel strapped to the roof of his car for a 12-hour drive or a president who ate dog meat as a child living in Indonesia.

“It raises the level of absurdity to something exponential,” Olbermann said on “This Week” about the Romney campaign criticizing Obama for consuming dog meat when he was 6 years old.

“With so many valuable questions going on, we’re wasting most of the time dealing with the dogs,” the former MSNBC and CurrentTV host said.

But ABC’s George Will said neither the candidates nor their campaigns are responsible for the recent dominance of dogs in the presidential race. Instead, he said, the media is to blame.

“The horse race is over, and the sugar rush that the media got from that is gone, and therefore they’re looking for something to keep their mind off, I guess, big questions,” Will said during the “This Week” roundtable.

Wall Street Journal columnist Peggy Noonan argued that with the breakneck speed of the campaign this year, dogs may be the topic of the week, but they are not here to stay.

“There are literally thousands of people in the United States now who are employed to cover these campaigns minute by minute and they need something to say,” Noonan said. “And so

Mitt had a dog on the roof of his car.

Barry had a dog on the roof of his mouth.

This story has plenty of legs.

Question: What's the advantage of serving dog over chicken?
Answer: With a family of 4, everyone gets a drumstick.

Keith Olbermann said today that the “dog-gate” controversies have gotten out of hand.

TWO THINGS HERE:

#1. Who the hell cares what Keith Olbermann thinks or says?

#2. I bet he didn’t say this until it was reported that, on more than one occasion, Obama ATE dog meat

Two Scottish nuns have just arrived in USA by boat and one says to the other, “I hear that the people of this country actually eat dogs.” “Odd,” her companion replies, “I heard it was just their president, but if we shall live in America we might as well do as they do.”

Nodding emphatically, the mother superior points to a hot dog vendor and they both walk towards the cart. “Two dogs, please,” says one.

The vendor is pleased to oblige, wraps both hot dogs in foil, and hands them over the counter. Excited, the nuns hurry to a bench and begin to un-wrap their ‘dogs’.
The mother superior begins to blush and, then, staring at it for a moment, leans to the other nun and whispers cautiously, “What part... did you get...?”

That photo-shopped photo makes me sick. I love dogs. In fact, I would risk my life for a doggy before I would for many people, including Obambi.

But accusing someone of causing a shooting spree by putting a bulls eye on a map is not absurd?

The article said “the former MSNBC and CurrentTV host.....it would have made more sense if it had said “FORMER CurrentTV host”. Confused the hell out of me.

I guarantee you that if Oberman had been on TV when it first came out about Romney’s dog carrier, he would have named Romney “worst person in the world”. Then when it came out that obama ate a dog, he’d have simply dropped it.

Rodney Dangerfield must have been talking about Keith when he said his Mom had to tie a pork chop around his neck to get the dog to play with him.

Nothing in American history has been as absurd as this Presidency. He may have eaten dog, snake, and bugs, but at some point in life, maybe at the feet of Frank Marshal Davis, he enjoyed others eating his snake.

Never would’ve been brought up if it weren’t for Obama’s people pushing Romney’s much more tolerable dog-gate.

Exactly. You'd think Axelrose would have read his bosses ghost written Dreams of My Father (and Nightmares for the Country) and seen that once he opened the "dog controversy", it would come back to bite "The Won" in the arse. Mittens should make a statement along the lines of , "Hey this is ridiculous, so what if the president ate dog while growing up in Indonesia, what's important is that under his watch the economy is going to the dogs."

Don't let the MSM get away with shifting the focus away from the epic FAIL that is Barry's record.

Typical Leftist response. When the Right fights back and wins, the Left always says that there is nothing to see here and that the whole thing is absurd.

You just have to love it. First Obama’s minions go after Mitt by insisting he lacks respect for women and “Voila” an Obama backer attacks “stay at home” mothers and wives and implies they are ignorant no-nothings. STRIKE one for Obama.

Next the Obama campaign criticizes Mitt for the Dog fiasco and, once again, this comes back to bite Obama. STRIKE two for Obama.

Now we reach the Grandpa with more than one wife issue brought up by, of course, Obama minions, and BAM - it turns out Obama’s grandpa and Daddy were married to more than one woman. STRIKE three for Obama.

It would seem there is no dirt on the face of the earth that Obama has done first and better. Now, should we discuss “Silver Spoon” vs “Affirmative Action?”

I did hear Obama would never put a dog on his car roof. It drys the meat out too much.
