I thought the Republican who came close to knocking off McKinney around 2000 or so was a white, Jewish male, not a black female.

But in 2012 the GOP has an excellent black, female conservative Republican running in GA-04: Catherine Davis. http://www.catherinedavis4congress.com/ It would take a miracle for her to win the general election, especially with Obama on the ballot increasing black turnout in that district (Davis would need each of Hank Johnson and Cindy McKinney to get between 30%-33% and get 34% herself, in a district that, as redrawn, gave McCain less than 20% IIRC), but at least our odds of winning are not 0% anymore.

North DeKalb is in the GA 6th Congressional District, and has been again for some time. There was only about a 4 year period that it was not. With the 2010 census redistricting, even more is in the 6th this year than two years ago. Thank Fran Millar, among others, for that.

I'm in that no-man's land just west of Tucker, inside the perimeter. We're considered North DeKalb but the 6th hasn't made its way down here yet, but it's coming. They initially had drawn the 6th southern line down LaVista, which would have moved me, but the usual racist suspects went berserk and so they moved it up two miles.
