Actual Title:The Audacity of Bubba:Clinton Appears in New Obama campaign ad Suggesting Romney Would Not Have Ordered Bin Laden Raid
Former President Bill Clinton appears in a new Obama campaign ad ( see the ad in the next post in Extended News )suggesting that Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney would not have ordered the raid that killed Osama bin Laden, even though Clinton himself repeatedly spurned opportunities to capture or kill the 9/11 mastermind.
Reuel Marc Gerecht, a senior fellow at the Foundation for Defense of Democracies, told the Washington Free Beacon that Clintons appearance in the ad was just astonishing.
Its pretty preposterous to suggest that he ran an aggressive counter-terrorism shop, Gerecht said of Clinton. Far, far from it. The notion that President Clinton was focused on the issue, was aggressive on the issue and was willing to really put his presidency on the line to go after bin Laden is absurd.
In a 2006 interview on Fox News Sunday, Clinton animatedly claimed he worked hard to try to kill [bin Laden].
The facts suggest otherwise.
Dick Polman of the Philadelphia Inquirer wrote in 2002 that Clinton spurned Sudans offer [in 1996] to hand over bin Laden because the United States lacked enough evidence to indict him.
This, Polman noted, would prompt Mansoor Ijez, a Clinton friend who had sought to negotiate the deal with Sudan, to lament, Clintons failure to grasp the opportunity represents one of the most serious policy failures in American history.
Clinton, however, defended his actions in a 2004 Vanity Fair interview. At the time, in 1996, [bin Laden] had committed no crimes against America, Clinton said, so I did not bring him here because we had no basis on which to hold him, though we knew he wanted to commit crimes against America.
This article is misleading in that the title implies a discussion by Bill Clinton of how Romney as Commander-in-Chief would not have ordered the hit on Bin Laden while it is just as well a hit piece on Bill Clinton in which it excoriates him for not having captured Bin Laden in relative ease, Bin Laden ripe for the plucking on many opportunities.
It occurred to me at how America's two worst foreign policy disasters of recent years, the loss of Iran and the lack of initiative to capture Bin Laden before 9/11 were the result of pusillanimous leadership, ineptitude of Democrat Presidents, Carter and Clinton.
Barry wouldn’t have ordered the D-Day invasion or the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. So what’s your point Slick?
Obama been laudin’ that raid and Clinton sure knows about NOT caring a whit about any stupid raid when he’s already busy watching television.
How does Clinton know what Romney would do? He does not even tell the truth about what he has done in then past!
What the hell is Clinton talking about? he had a co`ple of chances to hit osama and blew up a milk factory in Africa and chickened out in an attempt in Afghanistan.
Does this screed end with a tag, “This is a paid political announcement?”
Obama probably slipped Slick Willie a million or two bucks from his Stimulus Slush Fund, provided by the poor saps who are filling their tanks for $80 and their bellies with $3 burgers.
If I recall correctly, Bubba had a perfect opportunity to take out Osama pre-9/11 and blew it ... or whatever.
I'm certain of that. Obama is part of the Peacenik crowd who continually condemned the US for being the first to use atomic weapons. And before he became our illegitimate president, he was among those calling for civil trials for terrorists, as did his racist AG.
It took Barry 6 months to finally order it. I can’t stand Romney but I am sure he would have done it much sooner.
Tell me where to get them. Sounds like a good deal to me.
Compare the then General Eisenhower to the shallow, narcissistic little man known as Obama.

The decision to seriously get Bin Laden was made under Bush. All Obama had to do was follow through. Our Military did the rough and tough difficult stuff.
It is very sad that my fellow countrymen voted for this feckless, shallow, mean spirited, selfish, greedy, cowardly, conceited, delusional fool of a man.
Well said, And how much sadder if they vote in the majority to re-elect him?
Is it just me ? Or is it highly ironic , to the point of being almost unbearably disgusting , that a disgraced former President , who utterly failed to get bin Laden even when presented with multiple opportunities to do so ,would lecture the American people about the value of U.S. President taking the right decision at the right time . Clinton IS TO BLAME for September 11th , 2001 . How dare he make such a facetious statement at this time ?
Remember that Clinton spend untold millions on cruise missile strikes on empty camp grounds. Killed a few camels, didn’t he.
