Its been nearly eight years since Dan Rathers long career at CBS came to a close after he ran a story that could have derailed President George W. Bushs 2004 reelection. Instead, the story about Bushs supposedly questionable National Guard service wound up giving the media a black eye after some of the documents used to in the report turned out to be fake.
Nonetheless, Rather is still at it, making the case that he was in the right and that the only reason he was forced out at CBS was because of pressure from his corporate superiors. Rather made that case on ABCs Good Morning America on Monday in an appearance promoting his new book, Rather Outspoken: My Life in the News.
My attitude is in recent years is that sometimes things in journalism go badly for the correspondent, Rather said. But its important not to get baffled, not to be afraid and to never quit. I have a passion covering news. I love covering news. Particularly when you do investigative stories, not everything is going to go well. Ive had my ups and downs. Ive seen rain. Ive seen fire. Ive seen starry nights. Ive seen it all. But I never lost my passion for doing what I do.
Rather also stuck with his claim that the corporate leadership at Viacom, parent company of his former employer CBS, buckled under the pressure.

That's right, Daniel. You're a freakin' American hero.
Will someone PLEAZE tell Dan Blather to SHUT UP!
It was FReepers that caught him, and caused him to get the boot.
He knows if he tells that story long enough someone will believe it.
He believes it himself he has told it so long.
Who cares anyway the POS is gone.
Blather should hang out with jimmah cahtah. They have something in common...too many dead brain cells.
“What’s the frequency, Kenneth?”
Ahh but the strawberries, THAT’s where he had them.
We have a FRiend at Free Republic to thank for blowing the lid off Rather's counterfeit story.
Senility and dementia dont get better with age.
Fake but accurate!
:-)
No! You are looking at this all wrong.
Go Dan Go!!! Hire more lawyers. File a brief in every single county court house in America.
Spend, spend, spend and spend somemore on lawyers at least until you are a pauper and die broke on welfare.
So an ex-president’s Nat’l Guard service is in question...but not the veracity or integrity of the sitting president’s COLB or his actual status as a citizen. Right. Got it.

Go to post 47. It was the very first moment of Rather’s undoing.
Historical record, here: Bloggers Run Rings Around The Partisan, Lazy Old Media
Breathtaking to watch a live thread hone in on the truth. Epic even in review.
I'm sure this guy still believes you. In fact, I'm sure he learned all he needed to know about journalistic integrity from you ; p
And Hanoi John is only days away from signing his SF-180 and releasing his military records. You see, he promised to do that only 2647 days ago on 1/30/2005.
