Anyone can make an odd take on the bible, but what is really neon light crazy about LDS is the sci-fi notion of eternal planets. Granted, it was quite imaginative for Smith’s time, but he wasn’t interested in writing riveting fiction. He founded an honest to badness religion.
If he had stuck to fiction, he might not have been killed in a gunbattle.
