Meet the First Obama Girlfriend

It only took nearly six years for the media to begin vetting President Obama’s past.

Today, Vanity Fair released an excerpt from a new biography of Barack Obama by David Maraniss. The excerpt discusses Barack Obama's first love affair, with a white Australian woman named Genevieve Cook. It's a telling examination of who Obama was as a young man -- and it shows a self-absorbed "internationalist" with delusions of grandeur.

The book itself sounds like an ode to Obama. Maraniss writes, “At age 20, Obama was a man of the world … He could not be of one place, rooted and provincial.” No, says Maraniss, this was a broadminded young man who “knew the ways of different cultures better than he knew himself.”

When he first moved to New York, he was in the midst of an affair with Alexandra McNear, a girl from Occidental. They exchanged a series of purple letters with one another – turgid missives from overfevered young minds. Here, for example, is tendentious Obama explaining poetry to his young girlfriend:

I haven’t read “The Waste Land” for a year, and I never did bother to check all the footnotes. But I will hazard these statements—Eliot contains the same ecstatic vision which runs from Münzer to Yeats. However, he retains a grounding in the social reality/order of his time. Facing what he perceives as a choice between ecstatic chaos and lifeless mechanistic order, he accedes to maintaining a separation of asexual purity and brutal sexual reality. And he wears a stoical face before this. Read his essay on Tradition and the Individual Talent, as well as Four Quartets,

You made a funny. It’s possible for zero and his cabal to hide information from ALL OF US but nothing would be hidden from zero...of course he knows.

Wasn't Emma Peel another character on the Avengers? John Peel is also related to Valerie.

Maraniss may be trying to carry the water for the Obama line when he places young Barack at a Columbia gym doing his workouts in the early 1980s. The implication would be that he was indeed enrolled at the university during that time frame, whereas that fact remains doubtful, due primarily to the complete lack of corroboration from putative classmates and the lack of a transcript.

Maraniss definitely leans to the left, having worked for the WaPo and written a less than scathing biography of Bill Clinton. Therefore, it would be incumbent upon Ben Shapiro to carefully vet Maraniss' material when doing a piece like this.

There have been so many lies and distortions about Obama's background coming from the MSM that a conservative writer like Shapiro risks his own credibility by quoting Maraniss at length on this subject.

He would have been told, as he would have no memories of any actual parents. So many must know. That is one reason why they hold everyone in such scorn and contempt, they know the “secret”.

Obama’s head seems oddly positioned on the neck. Hm?....I wonder.

Is possible to duplicate two people standing exactly in the same stance with a head positioned in this odd manner? I bet not.

Good point about the light source.

So?.....What will be the commentary on this from Rush, Hannity, Levin, Beck...etc.? Hm?

Answer: Deafening silence from the so-called conservative media. ( The weenies!)

Put simply, a person who hides everything about himself is definitely something.

I missed this post at the time but have a few thoughts about it. Photoshopping has created a lot of suspicion, people now question every photo that they don’t immediately ‘approve’ of.

Obama’s head does look large in the photo with the girl.
Obama’s head and body looked like a midget in the group that was watching Osama’s killing.

I have posted slideshows of Obama smoking weed in college and he seems to be wearing the same gold ring on his left hand that he still wears, and that was ‘before Michelle’!

I’m also suspicious of the photo on the couch. [I haven’t read through the thread to see other comments]. Why is Obama dressed for WINTER in a turtle-neck, long sleeved shirt and wearing WINTER boots with heavy black socks [or something] on his legs, while his companion is wearing a wide necked short sleeve SUMMERY looking shirt and tennis shoes with no socks at all?

I see no problem about the longevity of the leather jacket. When you pay a few hundred dollars for a good leather jacket, they can last for many years. I have several and one full length leather coat that I’ve had for probably 25 years, that is still in perfect condition.

[That’s his roommate. They shared the apartment.]

You know I know that Phil! Siddiqi, I believe his name was.
I am very familiar with this picture, even posted it with the ‘roomie’s’ ten fingered hand blown up large and Obama’s left arm seemingly resting on his own left leg.
That still doesn’t explain the winter-summer attire.

That particular picture could be more easily photoshopped than the one of Obama on the bench with his grandparents.

...he's been wearing that ring for a very long time, it's a dress-ring - an African 'elephant-hair-ring' in gold.

Thanks Fred. Strange that he always wore that on his 'wedding finger'. Do you have any thoughts about the difference in winter/summer attire in the 'couch' photo? I haven't always kept up with these threads and miss a lot.

Maybe that finger is a 'wedding finger' in the US, but he's not steeped in American customs, is he? I never understood why anyone would assume an african elephant-hair ring, even though it's in gold, could be mistaken for a wedding ring. It just isn't a wedding ring.

I have no solution to the difference in clothing, other than it suggests he's not long arrived at the apartment or is dressed for leaving, which suggests to me that he was NOT living with Siddiqi and was the visitor, not the resident.

There was always an obvious need to create the Central Park fake, they wanted to show us two things; that he was there at the time and that he still had a relationship with the Dunhams. I doubt both. If that's him sitting in Bow Bridge with the Plaza Hotel in the background, then one might think they have posed him to fit between the Dunhams.

And that raises another problem. The growth of the trees on the shoreline indicate that photograph was taken some several decades ago. But all would be explained IF the pose was recent.

Seat someone in the desired pose with the lake and the hotel in the background, IN FRONT OF A STUDIO BACKDROP, place that body between the Dunhams on the bench, then add his head from a previous image. Now release both images and it looks like he was in Central Park that day, had his photograph taken on the bridge and then with the Dunhams...

So there you go, and you don't know who was sitting on that couch with Siddiqi, and we don't know who it was standing next to Genevieve Cook...or sitting in Central Park. Furthermore we don't know if it was him standing in the Street in Nairobi either.

But it's always the same jacket...

No, he doesn’t seem steeped in American customs, but we know his Grandmother Dunham raised him and he should have been familiar with wedding rings and the finger they are worn on. So many fingers and he chooses that one, lol.

As to the winter/summer clothes, I’ll remain puzzled about that. In winter or summer I wear winter or summer clothes inside too, just add a coat to go outside in winter and I live down south.

The coat did appear often, but as I said - a good leather coat lasts a long time.

Thanks for your info, I know you have been very knowledgeable about all of this over time.

You missed something. The only reason it looks like the leather coat had a long life, is IF you believe zero was wearing it...right from the image with Siddiqi through to Nairobi, which we are told was either in 1985 or 1987, depending in who's telling the story.

The only constant is the jacket...goodness knows whose head was there. Who was it with Genevieve?
