With you 100% on that count!!
Maybe we disagree and that is okay. But this is not a breathless obituary. I am sure FR is not going anywhere anytime soon. It will continue to exist in some form. However, the wounds are deep and the scars will be permanent in that so many long-time posters are now gone. Posters with sign-up dates of 1998, even 1997, have been culled from the herd. Some have been among the most insightful posters FR ever had and perhaps ever will.
In my view, the most harmful participants are those who gang up and encircle a person, drive them to the ground and then claim they failed the purity test of the moment. All while professing to speak on behalf of the owner.
And then what do they do? They send sappy, glittering pictures to one another with expressions of friendship.
Jim I recall the days when Clinton was being pushed on us. His election was disheartening to FreeRepublic viewers like myself. With your dedication we came out of those years stronger with more feeling for our Constitution. The last, at least four, years just show how entrenched the ‘change’ group was and is. It is good to hear you saying to hold the course even though we have to make tactical changes. The truth about Obama and his enablers and anyone who mimics their social schemes will be exposed and with FR at the front again our Constitution will indeed take It’s place as the light on the hill for all other nations to adore again.
I meant to put your name in the TO: part, but forgot.. frustration messes with you sometimes :p
And I totally agree with your original post.
Thank you very much, advertising guy!!
Go, tea party!!
I respect your thoughts, but where will the pressure come from? Do you think the Democrats will run a candidate who is to the right of an incumbent Romney in 2016.
I don't think so.
I think 4 years from now we will be trying to hold our noses and vote for a left wing Romney because as bad as he has been he will not be as bad as the left wing Democrat candidate.
And we will all be doing so to save our country from the leftists.
Hear you. But here are my choices:
Choice a: 100% certainty that I lose my freedom within 4 years
Choice b: live to fight another day
I chose b.
Will never be one of the “one percenters,” but we are paying our bills. Thank you very much, Jacquerie!!
I didn’t mean vote for God. I meant vote based upon my Christian principles and that means NOT voting for someone who supports abortion and gay marriage.
If you vote for Romney you de facto vote for his policies. Sorry, gunner, I can’t do that.
My faith must come before politics.
coulda made a last stand by beating MITT in NC, but there was no energy for it.
NEWT is not the gipper.
NEWT is not Sarah.
Without a leader, work locally. Congress ‘12 and Congress ‘14.
Her eldest sister will be 37 by the time she is born That is one huge age range - and yeah, we got careless
I heard the same during the Clinton re-election. Right here on FR. I heard that FR would be shut down on Jan 21st if Clinton won.
Didn't happen.
I think you are being hysterical.
And I still won't vote for Romney, because he's a pro-abortion, anti-gun, big government liberal.

edited from my previous post:
My hope and dream, and those of many I talk to, is that before the next election we form a huge, powerful conservative coaltion with an extremely well funded super PAC. Before the next mid terms and especially before the next Presidential, we have a plan in place to pre-vet and pre select OUR conservative candidate.
We have a platform that any potential candidate to our wing of the GOP, or new Country party ,( or whatever we call it) must pledge to uphold. We have leadership that looks at those who dare call themselves conservative to see what theyve really stood for and voted for.
Set a standard for what is acceptable % compliance and then from among the available candidates, vet them and come up with ONE that will run within the GOP against whoever the GOPe decides to put up for their candidate. Or alternatively on a third party ticket.
I think we could take back the GOP doing this up and down the ticket, but we cant do it with this continual circular firing squad. As someone said, even Reagan might not have gotten the nomination in this climate.
Conservative Candidate selection, DONE BEFORE THE PRIMARY SEASON STARTS!
ONE CONSERVATIVE CANDIDATE to go up against the GOPe choice!
Fair enough. But let's think about that.
Who have you voted for in the past and what were their policies?
Did those policies MAKE A DAMNED BIT OF DIFFERENCE as regards your core issues?
Don't get me wrong, I'm not a Romney fan. I've been mocking the
son of a bitch for at least six years around here, maybe more.
As soon as I heard about him anyway.
But look at it.. good guys, bad guys, the crap sandwich doesn't change.
The option we have now is to fail soon or fail a bit later.
I'd rather fail a bit later and pile up some more ammo and liquor.
Jim, behind you 100% as always. God bless you and God bless the United States of America.
Most Pizza Hut's have anchovies if you ask for them.
I've heard a lot of reasons on this forum, why I should vote for Romney, nut that is first one which actually may cause me reconsider.
