Obama plunges into campaign, tears into Romney
Google News/AP ^ | May 4, 2012 | DAVID ESPO, AP

Plunging into his campaign for a new term, President Barack Obama tore into Mitt Romney on Saturday as a willing and eager "rubber stamp" for conservative Republicans in Congress and an agenda to cut taxes for the rich, reduce spending on education and Medicare and enhance power that big banks and insurers hold over consumers.

Romney has staked his candidacy on an understanding of the economy, developed through a successful career as a businessman, and his promise to enact policies that stimulate job creation.

But Obama said his rival was merely doing the bidding of the conservative powerbrokers in Congress and has little understanding of the struggles of average Americans.

Obama must be running scared -- he has nothing to offer except lies.

Has ANYBODY heard of ANY plans to cut ANYBODY’s taxes? Not me? Talk about lies.

We have the ultimate unfair tax system right now with half of workers being complete freeloaders and the top 10% of earners paying 70% of all income taxes.

Unfortunately, Miff won’t combat these lies because he doesn’t know how.

I think Obama plunged into his re-election campaign in 2009.

They meant Obama plunged into his re-election campaign war chest.

True, he's been campaiging since 09, but to pay for it he was plunging into taxpayers' pockets.

“Mitt Romney on Saturday as a willing and eager “rubber stamp” for conservative Republicans in Congress “

We can only hope! LOL

If Obama was smart he would demoralize conservatives by saying that Romney is not much different from him. Attacks like these make it easier to hold your nose and vote.

Now, now...

Look, I am not a fan of Mittens in any way, shape or form, but if there is one thing that the last few months have shown clearly, he does fight and he fights dirty if necessary.

While acknowledging that the E-Rinos have forced him upon us, we also need to realize that he is no McCain either. He has no illusions about the media being his ally. If this is any sign of Obama’s game plan, the bamster’s in serious trouble.

Oh man, I *wish* that was the case. Heck, I think Mitt should use that same line, LOL.

You'll have to stuff a sock in that thought until after the election. Besides, NO ONE ESCAPES DEATH AND TAXES.

I think you are confounding "federal personal income tax" with "Taxes" and that's just crazy talk. There are lots of taxes and every single one of them is intertwined with the price of everything you buy.

Nothing gives away an anti-Ronald Reagan agitator like the argument against cutting some folks' federal personal income tax rates to 0. He's the guy who sponsored that change.

So, you with us in this campaign, or are you still arguing on behalf of the Democrat idea to tax the poor and force the rich to hide their wealth abroad?

Promises, promises. Yet another Obama lie.

If only that were true, more of us conservatives would want to vote for him!

Every time Obama tells us Romney is beholden to Conservatives that just makes him look that much more detached from reality.

Nobody normal believes Romney is a Conservative, or even like a Conservative. It just doesn't happen that way. The fact Romney thought of himself as a sort of Conservative shows how detached he is from reality.

So both these guys want to have control of the Football that launches the nukes.

Been watching TV this evening, a lot of anti-AEP commercials coming on. At the end indicating paid for by Obama!!!!! Not only did he force them to close a lot of their coal-fired plants, but now he’s actively campaigning against what they have left!!!!!!!

I agree. I'm no fan of Romney either, but I believe he will fight harder against Obama in a general campaign than McCain ever dreamed of doing. I'm convinced McCain in 2008 was more interested in having "his turn" to run for President and his place in the history books than he was in actually winning the election. Romney, for all of his many flaws, wants to win. He may still end up losing, but I guarantee you he won't be saying things like "we have nothing to fear from an Obama 2nd term" during the general campaign.

Romney did suggest across-the-board rate cuts. You probably only heard that he wanted to eliminate the mortgage interest deduction for second homes, but what he actually suggested was an across-the-board income tax cut.
