Secret U.S. program releases high-level insurgents in exchange for pledges of peace

KABUL — The United States has for several years been secretly releasing high-level detainees from a military prison in Afghanistan as part of negotiations with insurgent groups, a bold effort to quell violence but one that U.S. officials acknowledge poses substantial risks. ****************** But the releases are an inherent gamble: The freed detainees are often notorious fighters who would not be released under the traditional legal system for military prisoners in Afghanistan. They must promise to give up violence — and U.S. officials warn them that if they are caught attacking American troops, they will be detained once again.

How many American soldiers will die at the hands of these released prisoners?

It WILL happen, that is without a doubt. I just wonder if there is any way to keep track?

a bold effort to quell violence but one that U.S. officials acknowledge poses substantial risks.

bold = capitulation

They must promise to give up violence — and U.S. officials warn them that if they are caught attacking American troops, they will be detained once again.

After being released without negative consequence the first time I bet the thought of re-internment is just terrifying! Poor murderers! How they hate being scolded!

“Everyone agrees they are guilty of what they have done and should remain in detention. Everyone agrees that these are bad guys. But the benefits outweigh the risks,” said one U.S. official who, like others, has had his brain scooped out and replaced with Jello pudding, (standard procedure for officials in the Obama administration). (I had to edit the ending of this sentence so that it makes sense. I'm sure this is what the author intended.)

Socialism breeds slave mentality. Free men will fight for what is right, slaves just try to avoid punishment. These slaves are now our leaders.

Thought this was satire, but sadly our massive federal bureaucracy has spat out another policy that defies all human reason..the ‘no hitting other children, Jimmy’ as a war policy.

When they do recapture me will they even know I have already agreed to the non-violence BS already?. Really tough decision. I renounce all violenece dumbarse, I mean kind infidel.

The Compost calls it a bold effort to quell violence but it's really a moronic effort that won't work. We must have some real idiots making these stupid decisions. It is the religious duty of every moslum to lie to the enemy if it will help him kill the infidels. Where do we come up with such ass-hats?

Problem is, this is not accident. Its policy.

We should give them a quick trial to determine if they were “lawful combatants” under the strictest terms of the Conventions on Land Warfare. If the answer is “No,” then they go right to wall, not even back to their cell.
