German Patience With Greece on the Euro Wears Thin
New York Times ^ | May 8, 2012 | Nicholas Kulish and Liz Alderman

Just weeks ago, the idea that Greece would leave the euro zone was almost unthinkable. Now, with Greece’s newly empowered political parties refusing to abide by the terms of the country’s international loan agreement and Europe’s leaders talking tough, that outcome is looking increasingly likely. Germany’s devotion to the euro and the European Union runs extremely deep and cuts across the political spectrum. But the frustration with Greece here is undeniable. There is a growing conviction that it is up to Greece to follow through on its commitments, that Europe is done negotiating.

Socialists living up to their obligations. BWHAHAHAHAHAHA. That's a good one.

The EU is swirling down the bowl and they know it. It is going to get ugly. Very ugly indeed.

Germany needs to “Go Galt” on the EU before the EU pulls them down into the abyss...

with that much debt, who owns who?

The problem in greece is not the autsterity, it is the fact that the free market is held hostage by a few connected families. (I got mine syndrome)

the bailouts were only to protect socialism.

With enough countries demanding renegotiation of the bailout deals, Germany is alone in enforcement.

Forget about that. The German political elite is 100% behind the Euro and the Greeks know that.

The economic pressure that the German/Euro collective could place on Greece would kill then as a State. The Greeks want to be a lazy, criminal, freeloading society and they have that. Leeches (aka communists) need someone or something to leech off of. If the Germans bail, your pensions do not get paid Greece.

I’m reminded of a different war.

One in which a handful of sovereign states decided to leave a confederation.

Maybe Europe needs someone to “defend the union” no matter what the cost in blood and treasure.

“Maybe Europe needs someone to “defend the union” no matter what the cost in blood and treasure.”

That would take irony to a whole new level.

Yugoslavia? The war which the Europeans felt was so important to them that they volunteered us to fight it.
