Petition on WH website to move DNC from NC
The White House ^ | 5/9/12

Posted on 05/10/2012 7:43:34 AM PDT by ReagansRaiders

A petition has been created on the White House's website asking them to move the Democratic National Convention from North Carolina on account of the state voting to ban gay marriage.

Here's a great opportunity to embarrass the DNC and Obama. Head on over and sign the petition (you need to create an account to do so, so be creative -- just like people are when they make donation's to O's campaign.)

Cartagena, Colombia, would be an obvious choice, but there is probably a rule saying it has to be held in the US.

San Francisco, Hollywood, Chicago or Key West come to mind as good locations--except Key West probably doesn't have adequate convention facilities.

Oh I think this is an excellent idea especially since NC is a swing state. Can you imagine how many pissed off people there would be.

Yep. There aren’t many in NC who really want it here.

Still, there are a lot of local businesses that were counting on the convention.

Please do it. I have to move to the area and the last thing I want around me is a bunch of disgusting fudge-packers cleaning up for the big party.

Signed. I hope the Dems at least try to move the convention. That will only ensure that 0bama doesn't carry NC.

You have to sign up at the WH website but you don't have to sign up for e-mails.

“I would think forcing them to remain in a hostile state would be a good thing. Someone explain why we should get them to move.”

Don’t worry. They can’t move it. Way too many contracts already signed. Too many travel plans made. Not enough time or money to change. But a tremendous embarrassment if there’s a massive groundswell for making a move that would be impossible. Should be wonderful negative press all though out the Charlotte convention.

Obama only did this anyway because homos are practically the only financial donors to his campaign right now. He took a calculated risk doing this, hoping that there would be no change of heart amongst his black and Hispanic base regarding this issue. Personally, I think he made a gigantic mistake, particularly with the Hispanics whom, as a group, tend to be devout Catholics and whom I don’t think were that strongly cemented in Obama’s corner in the first place. Blacks, as a group, are also pretty strongly anti-homo as well. Not to mention the horrifically awful unemployment amongst blacks engendered by Obama’s deliberately destructive economic policies.

Logistics alone will preclude them moving it. You cant reschedule a large convention this late. SO .... having a petition boom-let is a win/win ... the DNC will *have* to hold the convention in a state that Democrats are calling names!

In the early 1990s the people of Cincinnati adopted a law that the gay activists found offensive. I don't recall the details but I think it was something along the lines of not extending additional rights to homosexuals.

The American Historical Association had planned to hold their 1994 annual convention in Cincinnati, but because of that vote, to show their displeasure, they voted (at their 1993 meeting in San Francisco) to move their next convention elsewhere, even though that cost them something like $500,000 to do so. It is, like other professional academic organizations, an organization very friendly to leftist, feminist, and pro-gay types.

Of course the cost would be exponentially higher to move a national political convention, and impossible on short notice.
