Romney counters notion he bullied gay classmates

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Mitt Romney on Thursday countered the notion that he bullied high school classmates and insisted he didn't know some were gay.

The Republican presidential candidate apologized to anyone he may have offended by what he said were "hijinks and pranks during high school." His comments in a hastily arranged radio interview followed a Washington Post report Thursday that he had held down classmate John Lauber and cut off his bleached blond hair when they were classmates at a prestigious boarding school in the wealthy Detroit suburb of Bloomfield Hills, Mich.

Well done GOP Elite. Thanks SO much for giving us this ... “thing” as the nominee.

Your "elite" gave us nothing, the people are the ones who voted.......Gingrich, Santorum and Romney were equally trashed by the MSM and some could argue that Romney was given more than his share of the abuse (and the proof lies here) but yet the people have given him their vote.

So, you have to make the choice, do you throw away your vote for some write in and support Obama or do you suck up your hatred for Romney and give him your vote.......

With control of the House and hopefully the Senate after the election, nothing passed by them will be approved by Obama..That's a given......At least with Romney, it's likely he will approve the bills.......

Do what you want tho but don't cut off your nose just to spite your face.......

The WaPo probably got the story lead straight from Carney or Media Matters.

Could be. Regardless of who actually did the "opposition research," I'd still bet that the method was to compile a list of Romney's high school classmates, get in touch with them, and then pay them for whatever story they could come up with.

The irony and hypocrisy here is that whatever leftist entity did the dirty work likely did it by capitalist techniques (i.e., providing monetary incentives) as they publicly talk about and implement "transformational change" in American society.

How does it show Romney was a conservative? It showed he was an arrogant rich-kid prep-school bully who feels he has special privileges, which is exactly how he still comes across.

My guess is that the WaPo searched out all of Romney's former high school classmates they could find and offered them money for any derogatory story about him they could tell. A few Democrats among them naturally took the WaPo offer.

this isn't a coincidence, the WaPo and the rest of the MSM have been provided with tons of anti-Romney, anti_ any GOP person, by the DNC for the past year and will eventually print them as soon as the applicable topic comes up........

It doesn't matter if Romney is the candidate or not, Gingrich or Santorum or whoever will be excoriated by all the ridiculous info that has been gathered by the Dems and fed to the media.......

It takes tons of hours of investigation to uncover any classmates of anyone from back in the 1960's and the fact that they have Romney's is a clear giveaway that the hunt has been on for months if not years.

As an example, pick out five people you attended grade school with back in the 60's and see if you can locate them.....

I remember giving a wedgie to a kid in the 70s, that's assault, isn't it?

Yes -- unless you work for the TSA.

Everything we learn about Romney, including this, reveals his arrogance of privilege, the difference here is that we learn that Romney was a violent, physical bully before he was an effeminate, draft evading Frenchman as his dad campaigned for the presidency as the anti-war republican.

As my homepage indicates, it is a good thing that I didn’t catch Mittens violently ganging up on someone like this when I was a teen.

Sounds like Romney drove him to suicide.

I don’t think there’s any evidence this kid was actually gay either. Long hair doesn’t mean anything.
