Arizona high school forfeits championship game rather than face girl opponent

A state championship high school baseball game is over before tonight's first pitch, after one Arizona team forfeited rather than play an opponent with a girl in the lineup.

Our Lady of Sorrows refused to play Mesa Preparatory Academy in Thursday’s scheduled Arizona Charter Athletic Association state championship game, because that team has Paige Sultzbach at second base. The 15-year-old agreed to sit out a pair of regular season victories over Our Lady of Sorrows, which is run by the Society of St. Pius X, an traditionalist church that broke away from Roman Catholic Church over Vatican reforms in 1970. But with everything on the line tonight, Sultzbach wasn't willing to stay glued to the bench — even if it means no game at all.

In a statement to FoxNews.com, an Our Lady of Sorrows official said the school had no choice but to forfeit because it has a strict policy prohibiting participation in co-ed athletics and believes in "forming and educating boys and girls" separately.

“Teaching our boys to treat ladies with deference, we choose not to place them in an athletic competition where proper boundaries can only be respected with difficulty,” the statement read. "Our school aims to instill in our boys a profound respect for women and girls."

I've seen my wife smoke men in basketball

she must be in the top .25% of women or the guys she plays against suck.... before you get her into "grappling" self defense I hope you realize that even if she were attacked and lucky enough to get someone in an arm-bar, ankle lock, choke hold that someone strong enough can pick her up and slam her back first into the deck, unless she's a horse... but since she can smoke men in B-ball she might be a hefty chick.

I had the same type of BS pulled on me by an instructor that made a big deal about beating on guys because of her training. I didn't choke her out but her face was awful purple, the snot was coming out of her nose while she tried to breath through her teeth and the vein in the middle of her forehead stuck out like a hose. I even let her get on top and straddle me the second time. My point is that in a "real" competition the aggressive nature and superior upper body strength of men usually wins out. Otherwise you'd see women in the NBA, MLB, NFL and my favorite Mixed martial arts.

The only place that women beat men is in Hollywood, Cable/Network Television, Broadway and Angelina Jolie movies. All places inhabited by girly men with sexual identity issues trying to make all men metrosexual eunuchs.

I like coed sports, like mixed tennis leagues, soft ball and jogging/triathalons etc.. but when it comes to full contact sports where I'm trying to really win I'd rather not have to kick a woman's ass. Cause its' not a good thing to hurt a lady and whether you win or lose you still look like a d#ck beating a woman.

Heck I ended up losing to the female instructor in the long run, cause I ended up in "office hours" and was lucky that was the end of it.

They knew from the beginning that women were allowed to participate in athletics but yet they chose to wait until the championship game to stake their boycott? Cry me a river and revoke the team's right to participate in any state sponsored athletics.........

If a team can't find a second baseman that can beat out a girl.... well they suck and probably can't compete.

You do know that second baseman is rather inherently emasculating in all youth leagues? The "guy" playing there is almost invariably the weakest arm on the team, with not enough gun to play the left side of the infield or in the outfield, or to pitch, or to play catcher, and is usually too slight of build to risk at first base defensively. To top it off, most second basemen aren't usually dangerous at the plate either, again having to do with a lack of arm strength, which partially translates into poor hand speed.

Second base is the least "macho" fielding position in the game at every level, and that is most readily apparent in youth ball. Second basemen are not usually the one facing spikes up on a double play ball either, it's the usually much more athletic shortstop who most often faces that hazard.

A girl would not have to be a phenom to beat out a male youth second baseman, in the field or at the plate.

I guess I missed something in the article. I didn't realize that Paige Sultzbach had been FORCED to play baseball on that team....

Here I thought her participation was voluntary and her ability had earned her a spot on the team.......

Great. So that totally negates the greater than one sigma advantage in upper body strength and speed that men have on women.

BTW, did you know that lots of women get hurt or killed each year trying to defend themselves from perps using the fancy martial arts that they wasted thousands of dollars learning?

I’d seen women with black belts get creamed by “average Joes” with no martial arts training, but who could bench press 250 lbs. (which is not actually that much, considering).

This nonsense about women being physical equal with men is simply bilious mental masturbation. If it were true, then the entirety of gender roles throughout history would not be what they were.

Sure, sure, there are always going to be some women who can run faster or whatnot than some men. That’s because there is some overlap of the bell curves. Nevertheless, no matter how fast or strong a woman may be, she is not going to be faster or stronger than a man who engages in similar levels of working out and training. An female olympian can easily outrun a middle-aged male accountant with a spare tire. She will, however, pretty much ALWAYS get beat by a male olympian in the same sport.
