GOP needs Marco Rubio to ward off extinction

The Republican Party faces a threat to its existence. It’s not an ideological threat, but a demographic and mathematical one. Unless the GOP acts to change the math by broadening its appeal to minorities, it will cease being a major force in American politics.

If you have any doubt about this, look at the numbers:

In 1960, white Americans made up 94 percent of the electorate. By 2010, the figure had dropped to 75 percent.

Among African-Americans, more than 90 percent vote Democratic, and in the 2008 presidential race, 96 percent chose President Obama. For Asian-Americans, a clear majority consistently votes Democratic. In the last presidential election, 56 percent voted for Obama.

Among Hispanic-Americans, the fastest growing segment of the electorate, the ratio of Democrats to Republicans is about 2-to-1. Eight years ago, four out of 10 Hispanics voted for ...

Every single choice for VP is a senator that will reduce the nubmer of republicans in control or if repalced will be by a “moderate” like Kasich. Leave the good senators alone and work on someone thatcan create other values - like Christie who is be best attack spokeman for balanced budget and fighting unions in government.

Since the GOP has been working toward extinction since 1960, why would they want to ward it off?

Buy adapting LBJ's recipe for electoral success? Sure thing...

America needs Marco Rubio - or somebody like him. And it has nothing at all to do with his ethnic background.

Conservatism wins, every time it is offered. The problem is, in many venues we have not been offered a conservative alternative for quite some time now. When the real thing is offered, either it ends up being co-opted or corrupted before it has had a chance to prove itself, or it goes on to success, surpassing all expectations and shifting the paradigm. Then, for at least a brief while, the general public gets to enjoy a true renaissance and genuine prosperity, until the internal contradictions that arise from being fully satisfied again brew boredom, discontent, and some nagging desire for “change”.

When you are right you are right. The only thing that will keep me from voting is if the GOP runs an ineligible candidate. Just because we let one cat slip through the door does not mean we should do it again.

I was referring more to the kids who were brought here by adults, or were born here, who want to be productive. As far as I’m concerned, they can send back the ones who purposely came here illegally.

Rubio brings the following to the ticket:

Swing State = Florida
True Conservative Values
Hispanic vote
Youth, intelligence, and an ability to articulate a plan.
An Illegal Immigration plan slightly more sophisticated than “ship ‘em all back”.

IF 1.) “ - - - I especially don’t think the illegals should be given anything. - - -, “ THEN 2.) “ - - - But those who are willing to work for it should have some pathway.” is a classic example of RINO double-think.

RINO double-think IS the reason that the Republican Party has already gone extinct.

The last Republican President was the one who spent less of our Federal dollars than was taken in as income during the previous year.

As a newbie at FR, look it up. Shouldn’t take to long as EVERY Republican President in the last 100 years has promised to “Balance the Budget.”

BTW, Welcome to FR! Obey Jim’s Rules, develop a thick skin quickly, donate when you can, and ENJOY FR!

Does the law somehow prevent them from eventually applying for legal citizenship?...

We should reward someone whose first act is to break our law?
Who decides if they want to be here for the right reasons?
For the Republican party to retain legitimacy it needs break free of the choke hold of the GOP establishment that gave us Romney, McCain, Dole.
It needs to start real conservative news and political outlets on cable, Internet and radio to get the message of liberty to the uneducated masses.
It needs to wrestle our children away from the gubmint, union schools where they are brainwashed with the democratic message of hate and tyranny.
It needs to increase Republican voter turnout.

"Slightly more" being the operative word for not voting for anymore frauds.

“The problem, as I see it, relates to this idea that whites are alone in voting on the right. Apparently whites have a monopoly on conservatism, and we’re fighting an uphill, into-the-wind battle.”

Not all whites are conservative.
But the overwhelming majority of conservatives are white.

There is a Pollyann-ish cohort of conservatives who believe that anyone and everyone will “embrace conservatism” — if only they can be shown conservative principles, they will logically see such principles as superior and will choose them over liberalism.

Such beliefs are fantasies. They will not happen.
When will we wake up?

"A Rubio keynote address at the convention would be a launching pad possibly even beyond VP. That’s how Clinton and Obama got their start into presidential politics...as well as Mario Cuomo before that."

So, we as Conservatives need to copy-cat the RATS? Rubio will give a good convention speech and so what? What has he ever done to derserve to be elevated by us?

Look at exactly what we got with smooth talkers like Clinton, Obama & Cuomo. Good speech con-men and liberals that are embedded in the political system forever! They enrich themselves & do everything they can to bankrupt the country.

There are many worthy & ethical Conservatives with good character, who are patriots and love our country. They have the same ideals that we dol THESE are the kind of candidates that we need to elect in order to change the GOP. We don't need more of the same of what we already have.

“Rubio is ineligible for the presidency, as is Obama.”

Right you are. Throw Bobby Jindal into the mix also.

Funny how even here, the media, and in the halls of Goverment, The Constitutional eligibility requirements for the President and Vice President has morphed from being a “natural born citizen” into being a “citizen.”

Keep up the good fight engineer, because, without this push back, we are losing the war of words to the leftists who have gone out of their way way to show us their ill intent.

Take it to the bank!

Virginia Governor Bob McDonnell will be the VP pick.

Memorize the spelling NOW. So I won't have to keep correcting all of you as I had to with Michele Bachmann.

“Rubio brings the following to the ticket:.....”

Rubio, as a potential Pres. or VP candidate, brings nothing more than a slide further away from our Constitution.

Take the longer view....after all we’re not Democrats/socialists/communists are we?
