Cruz was a staffer, doing what the Governor and Attorney General told him to do.

Cruz has been running for office since 2008, beginning about 10 years younger than Dewhurst was when he first ran for office in 1998. The difference is that Dewhurst is on his 3rd or 4th career, while Cruz is still on his first.

That’s all he’s ever done: work for other lawyers. He and Levin talked about how much Dewhurst is “worth” last night, as though it’s a bad thing to build a company from the ground up to over $200 million in 30 years or so.

What silly word games — “R. Ted Cruz” is the “Counsel of Record” for the company that was found liable by a jury.

Worse yet:
Knowing he was going to run for Texas Senate, Cruz *chose* to take on the appeal by a Chinese-owned company against a man whose company is based in the US. That shows poor judgement as well as distractions about jargon.

Dewhurst was LG when the Dems ran to NM in 2003, his first year in office. Many of us watched as he stood firm and imposed sanctions.

Dewhurst has championed the right to life, beginning in that same year with the Prenatal Protection Act and Woman’s Right to Know. This year, he passed SB 16, the Sonogram Act.

In addition, he helped pass Jessica’s Law, the voter ID act, border security funding, and on and on.

Oh No! He was the Counsel of Record for an appellate brief in that case.

Ted successfully ARGUED a case before the Supreme Court representing a U.S. patent holder against a Chinese company in a case defining the proper standard of intent for inducement to infringe a patent in Global Tech v. SEB, but I suppose filling out those briefs is much more important to you.

Concerning the [mis]Statesman endorsement, one should typically vote opposite them in the general election and completely ignore them in a primary. I guess we'll see another Dewhurst attack ad blaming Cruz for that endorsement soon.

The Austin-American Statesman is considerably left of where Pravda was in the 1950’s. I expect to vote for Cruz, despite this red flag endorsement.

Texas conservatives need to rally around Ted Cruz. Please, go out and vote for him. Get others to vote for him, as well. If they can’t make to the polls, give them a ride to the polls. If necessary, hijack a bus of strangers to the polls and don’t let them leave until they’ve voted for Cruz.

It’s that important.

Yep...as I have previously stated, we are on opposite sides of this one...you Dewhurst...me Cruz. :)

As far as choosing...not sure when you work somewhere you always get to choose your assignments, but I will take your word for it that he chose to pick this one 4 years ago.

Best summary yet I have found yet on the web on this stupid china distraction: http://www.thepoliticalguide.com/Profiles/Senate/Texas/Ted_Cruz/Scandals/Attorney_for_Chinese_Tire_Company/

I agree, and that’s why I have voted early for Cruz though I don’t know much about him. I also voted for Warren Chisum for Railroad Commission and Steve Smith for Supreme Court, the latter being anti-Perry.

Agreed...VOTE CRUZ!
Dewhurst record is not stellar as a staunch conservative...he has hidden behind attack ads, refused to talk to newspapers like the Fort Worth Star Telegram - http://www.star-telegram.com/2012/05/14/3959761/this-time-star-telegram-isnt-backing.html
more on Mr Dewhurst according to Teds campaign so I am certain there is some exaggeration as there is from the Dewhurst side coming at Ted

While I agree with this article (in fact have already cast my vote for Cruz in early voting) there is something amiss here!

The unbelievable aspect is that this come out in the Austin Statesman. An article actually pointing out a Republican candidates good points?

What are they up to?

When the Statesman endorses someone in the Republican primary, you can be certain that the folks behind the endorsement are holding their noses. They will not endorse a Republican in the general election as long as the Democrats put up someone who is neither an obvious crook nor a complete doofus.
