Oh really ABC, are these the FACTS?

It's just the fog of race war. The yellow press doesn't have time to get the facts straight, even months after the fact. Their time is spent instead using Photoshop to doctor photos and lighten skin tones. They're on a mission and it's an election year. They need emotion and minority voter turnout. They just wish Zimmerman wasn't so minority looking.

And your snippet suggests that zimmerman did not start following the guy until after he been told not to by a civilian operator. How can he stop following someone if he is supposed to be sitting in his truck??

“Zimmerman will be exonerated when the jury hears the facts and realizes the he did nothing but kill a thug in self defense!!”

Depends on the jury. They try to keep smart people off them.

> "...police say could have been avoided if he did not leave his car as directed by the 911 dispatcher." [ABC story]
> "The dispatcher said nothing about not exiting his car." [aruanan]

You're right. He didn't. I'm not even sure that Zimmerman continued to follow Martin after the dispatcher said that he didn't need him to do that. At about 1:27 of the audio of the Zimmerman call the dispatcher says, "Just let me know if he does anything, ok." Zimmerman: "How long until you get an officer over here?" Dispatcher: "Yeah we've got someone on the way, just let me know if this guy does anything else." [Wikipedia transcript]

So at that point the dispatcher himself has told Zimmerman to do something that he'll need to keep Martin in sight to do. Zimmerman starts giving directions to where he is, but then Martin starts running, and Zimmerman tells the dispatcher. The dispatcher asks, "He's running? Which way is he running." To answer that, though, Zimmerman has to keep him in sight, and apparently starts running himself (he seems to have trouble keeping his breath while speaking). Zimmerman: "Down towards the other entrance to the neighborhood." Dispatcher: "Which entrance is that that he's heading towards?"

Again, to be sure about the answer, Zimmerman has to keep Martin in view. When the dispatcher realizes that Zimmerman isn't staying where he was, though, he asks, "Are you following him?" Zimmerman: "Yeah." Dispatcher: "Ok, we don't need you to do that." Zimmerman: "Ok."

Zimmerman continues to sound winded as he makes the next few comments, but that may just be because he was running previously. In any case he stops sounding winded soon afterward, and at one point says that he doesn't know where Martin is. So he's not following him at that point.

Obviously Zimmerman and Martin meet up eventually, but exactly how that happened we don't know. The understanding with the dispatcher was that the police would call Zimmerman to find out where he was when they arrived. Zimmerman: "Actually could you have them call me and I'll tell them where I'm at?" Dispatcher: "Okay, yeah that's no problem." Zimmerman wasn't expected to stay in the same place, and he was free to move around.

Martin knew that Zimmerman had been following him previously, so when they met later that could have led to the conversation reported by Martin's girlfriend. Martin: ""What are you following me for?" Zimmerman: "What are you doing here?" I can see Martin being annoyed, but that doesn't justify an attack. His attack on Zimmerman was the criminal act that caused him to be shot -- in self defense, as the injuries to Zimmerman indicate.

Zimmerman is guilty beyond a reasonable doubt and anything beyond that are mere facts and here say.

What I don't understand is why are they giving so much credence to the girlfriend;s conversation.

There was no recording and she is giving much detail about
how this all went down.

here is a link to the testimomy by her

The autopsy report showed that Trayvon was shot at a distance of no more than 18” so he was not stalked and gunned down from a distance. The autopsy also showed bruising of the knuckles consistent with eye witness testimony that they saw Trayvon on top of Zimmerman beating him with his fists and that Zimmerman was yelling for help. Zimmerman’s documented injuries are also consistent with this testimony. Between the eye witness accounts and the physical evidence Zimmerman’s contention that he was jumped by Trayvon and used his gun in self defense seem not only plausible but likely. The notion that Zimmerman was a white racist is also inconsistent with his history of having minority friends, working to help minorities, living in a gated community with minorities and being himself of mixed minority ancestry. To make this case into a hate crime is ludicrous.

> What I don’t understand is why are they giving so much credence to the girlfriend’s conversation.

Well, she’d be expected to slant things in Martin’s favor, and possibly even make things up. It’s not implausible to think that at one point, though, Martin would ask, “What are you following me for?” and Zimmerman ask, “What are you doing here?” That doesn’t justify an attack, though.

A couple of things in the article don’t sound likely to be true. “She strongly urged him [Martin] to run, but she could tell he did not because he was out of breath and tired...” I doubt that the teenager Martin was more tired than Zimmerman, who sounded winded on the police call after a few seconds of trying to keep Martin in sight. Also I doubt very much that it was Martin who said, “Get off, get off.” It was Zimmerman who had injuries to the back of his head.

He was OUT of the car when talking to the 911 dispatcher; he was returning to the car when he was assaulted. He had answered “OK” when told “we don’t need you to do that”.

The enemedia is delibeartely trying to confuse the potential jury pool, to prevent a thug’s killer form getting a fair trial.

So is Corey going to bring in this “witness” who didn’t see anything, along with the girlfriend and Trayvon’s mother, and have them testify, then tell the jurors to believe them and ignore what the other witnesses say? Is that part of her strategy? It might work if they have all liberals on the jury.

I guess ABC wants to get pulled into Zimmerman's defamation lawsuit against NBC/Brian Williams.

That's the only reason I can think of for manufacturing evidence.

She (Dee Dee) also said she heard the grass. She heard the grass twice.

One other thing though. Dee Dee talks about the earphones, presumably a bluetooth, falling off TM. The police state that they were recovered from his hoodie pocket along with the skittles, pin(button)and lighter. Oh, when George was talking to the dispatcher he said TM looked like there was a button on his hoodie.

At any rate, the "What are you following me for?" if it occurred, could not have happened before the time that Zimmerman reported Martin to have disappeared, which was subsequent to the "we don't need you to do that." Besides, if it did occur, it demonstrates that it was Martin who returned to Zimmerman and confronted him, leading to everything else that followed.

Gee, if Martin had only gone back to his father's girlfriend's house once he got out of Zimmerman's sight none of this would have happened. And maybe seeing a shorter, pudgy-looking guy armed with a cell phone was enough to encourage Martin to get all up in his grille. Oops. Some people, often the young, don't know when to leave well-enough alone. I wonder if there's some kind of metric that would correlate the likelihood of a bad outcome with the propensity of wanting to have the last word or not standing down.

Good point. Since some liberals actually do become conservatives (often after having built a valuable enough life they want to protect or having a teenage daughter--like whoever said, "What's a neoconservative? A liberal with a teenage daughter"), it's not a congenital condition that prevents them from seeing this point.
