Iran is dedicated to annihilating Israel, the Islamic regime’s military chief of staff declared Sunday.
“The Iranian nation is standing for its cause and that is the full annihilation of Israel,” Maj. Gen. Hassan Firouzabadi said in a speech to a defense gathering Sunday in Tehran.
His remarks came on the day International Atomic Energy Agency director Yukiya Amano flew to Tehran to negotiate for inspections of Iran’s nuclear program. They were reported by the Fars News Agency, the media outlet of the Revolutionary Guards Corps.
While many within the Islamic regime, including President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, have often stated that Israel should be annihilated, until Sunday no one in the nation’s leadership has announced Iran’s determined intention to carry it out.

Firouzabadi... is considered close to Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.....
Firouzabadi has headed the Iranian army staff since 1989.
He studied veterinary medicine in Mashhad and enrolled in religious studies under Khamenei.
He was a strong supporter of Ahmadinejad in presidential elections.

General Firouzabadi: A General Who Neither Was a Soldier nor an Officer
General Hassan Firouzabadi is the Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces.[1] While being Iran’s highest military officer after Ayatollah Khamenei, he lacks a background in both the military and the IRGC. Before receiving the rank of general and appointed to be the Chief of the Armed Forces in 1989, Hassan Firouzabadi had not served in any of Iran’s armed forces.
It was during the war and at the Khatem al-Anbiya base when Firouzabadi came close to collaborating with the Armed Forces. Hassan Firouzabadi, supervised by Hashemi Rafsanjani at the time, was commander of the Khatem base. Hassan Rowhani served as his deputy in charge of coordinating [meetings between] ministry representatives of the Mousavi government at the Khatem base.
After the war ended in 1988, a council of professional military figures decided to confer Hassan Firouzabadi the rank of general. Ayatollah Khamenei appointed him Chief of the Armed Forces.
Firouzabadi, now 59, has this job for 21 years. Ayatollah Khamenei highly admires him, and armed forces personnel consider Firouzabadi faithful and religious [enough] to be Commander of the Armed Forces.

I believe he means it. More’s the pity. I’m presently finishing restoration of a Megillat Esther that an inmate at Auschwitz had kept safe. His son/grandson found it in the attic, and wanted the faded lettering rejuvenated. The “thousand year Reich” is gone. Nazism is overused for rhetorical overkill, and little else. Auschwitz is now a museum. This Megilla, that outlived Hitler and all his flunkies, will be read every Purim, and tell succeeding generations about another Persian who was “fully committed to full annihilation” of the Jewish people, who will still be here, laughing and clanging noisemakers at the Haman of that time, as we will at the Haman of this, long after he’s only a memory to be blotted out with a grager.
